  1. One additional thought regarding Michael Emrys/Erwin's comments and IanL's response about target lines 'snapping' (apologies - I don't know how to use the quote feature!): in my experience, the target line will always 'snap' to the centre of an Action Square during area fire. The unit firing will then proceed to direct fire (as best they can) across the entire Action Square, shifting fire between bursts for example. If a small unit is in one corner of the AS or another, they will still conceivably receive some incoming fire (not sure if that is responsive to you are referring to). I have also noticed that if a unit is directing area fire to an AS, and then spots a unit occupying that AS - they then direct their fire more accurately at the acquired target. MH
  2. Hey Odin, I am currently running CMBN off of an HDD and running CMFB off of an internal SSD. I can report that CMFB loads in the neighbourhood of 10x faster, particularly for large battle. Now, I don't know how differences between the architecture of the two games (CMBN vs. CMFB) factors in, but I have found the difference between the drive performance to be significant (so much so I am currently looking into moving my old BN files to the SSD - just haven't quite figured out the re-installation process yet ) Hope that helps, MH
  3. I really enjoyed your DAR against Artemis in CMBS - great fight and great presentation. Looking forward to this WWII rematch - give 'em hell! MH
  4. - Great images as always Bud Backer. I have to add my voice to the folks praising the scenario designer of 'A Muddy Affair.' I just finished my first slogging run through, and it is a excellent map in all respects. It was a great tactical challenge, with the AI acting and re-acting in a way that felt very dynamic, along with formidable and well thought out defensive positions. The map itself was carefully built, in a way that felt authentic and lived-in (with a few troublesome nooks and crannies as well). So far, I have to say that FB designers seem to be making the most of the tools the BF engine provides and taking it to the next level, with this map as the perfect example. Well done and thanks.
