  1. Was pondering something similar was just trying to work out a way to simplify it, looks like a fun idea though
  2. Well I finally got a kill of an M1! It wasn't the crack ATGM teams ambushing ( anything that could hurt an M1 refused to actually hit it) It was a crack T-90 that was running away from some Bradleys that managed to get the kill (While the M1 was distracted shoot at all the APC's yes I was a callous git and left them viable hoping they would give the ATGM teams time to get a shot while getting blown up) I also have put together a wee check list type thing that may be of use to others after constantly getting to the first turn and realizing I have forgotten something crucial. Any suggestions to add to it are more than welcome: Force Selection Do you have enough to deal with heavy armour? (If you do get more overkill is impossible, Russian ATGM's as Crack for all the good it will do) TRP's! AA (Even as the US bring it) FO's (If your Russians you don't have enough, you never bring enough) Air Controllers (As Russians see FO's) Deployment Put the TRP's somewhere sensible where you can't draw line of site easily ATGM's deployed in pairs and for the love of god check there LOS FO's where they can actually do some good (Don't expect their drones to last long) Just check all the sight lines Have you actually scouted the terrain on the line of advance properly Remember woods are not the friend of infantry unless they are really thick Check ALL the sight lines even those ones you are totally sure are fine.
  3. Sublime, it' a different map, it's one Kieme has made.
  4. I had expected to get where I was going first, the idea was to use the infantry as bait hoping he would engage them then allowing me to maneuver my tanks to fight. But yeah I had a serious lack of AT going on in general not quite sure what I had been thinking when I picked the force as normally I fit as meany ATGM's in as is feasible so as soon as his tanks engaged me I suddenly realized I have left them all back at the depot so I decided to double down and shove my tanks in quickly in the hope of getting the jump on his tanks while they where having a field day with my infantry needless to say that did not go as planned at all.
  5. I was the opponent, not lie it was a rather horrible 15 minutes. It looked like we both had the same plan of throwing everything at the grain silos, where as my vanguard was BMP3's his was M1's so yeah that fire fight didn't go my way. The second wave was T-90s that I moved to engage the M1's, unfortunately I hadn't even spotted the other platoon of them till I had wandered into the cross fire, Needless to say that did not end well. The 120mm mortars caught another platoon just as they where disembarking and gutted it so by that point it was all over. Kieme is a LOT more aggressive than anyone else I play in PBEM games and unfortunately is rather good at it as well so my initially planning constantly over estimates where I will come into contact with his forces subsequently he captures my infantry in there transports and murderizes (A technical term) them. Hopefully at somepoint I will get my recording software working again with CMBS and I can make a recording of the carnage first hand.
  6. Well lets go with the huge town military outpost one, I am currently defending that in a PBEM, made a few cock ups that my opponent has found but despite having ATGM's all over the shop so far only two have actually managed to get a shot off and they missed
  7. The problem I am seeing with most of the tips here is they relie on the terrain either giving you long fields of fire or nicely placed buildings
  8. Yeah I tried swarming the map in with ATGM's in the two games I have use BTR units, so far they haven't even got a shot off with out dying Hopefully I will have more luck in our next game, now if you would be kind enough to Armour your M1's with the same highly volatile stuff your Russian vehicles are sporting in our old game that would be great.
  9. Well I have been playing the Russians a bit more, I have started putting some of the advice given here into practice I will see how it goes but the difficulty curve on the Russians appears a lot steeper than the americans
  10. So I have been trying to get my head around the Russians, after a couple of false starts where I tried to use them like the US and get my long range sniping on I switched to trying to do more set piece attacks with some serious artillery support. Apart from my generalship screw ups the main issue I am having is spotting the Americans, it feels like unless they actually stand in the open on a clear day or I am literally on top of them I can't spot them. In one of my latest outings I am defending against a US attack so I put out a trip line of scouts and snipers, the best I have got before most of them have been killed is a ghost contact. One unit of snipers was killed by a tank they never even saw...they where snuck up on by a tank while hiding in woods! Basically help! IS there some way I can actually get eyes on the US without resorting to dropping artillery on every location they could be hiding?
  11. First recording of a PBEM game I am currently in against sublime (Please refrain from mentioning specifics as the game is only a few turns in. https://youtu.be/hnFW3WOcF6I (I noticed when watching the play back of this the mouse cursor wasn't recorded I will correct that in later vids, school boy error!)
  12. Currently only been playing with the US, happy with scenarios or just quick battles.
  13. Hi all, Looking for an opponent for PBEM game (Preferably using dropbox as a file exchange). I am still relitivly new to CM:BS so looking for a fellow newbi (Or someone who doesn't mind putting up with a noob) I shoudl be able to managed regular turns, at least once a day if not more dpending on schedules.
