  1. I know it was in the IPad version...I don't know if there are any reasons why it can not be implemented in other versions.
  2. Thank you, i did a little searching, but clearly not enough.
  3. This thread is getting a bunch of views...but, no replies. More people in this community must use mods...
  4. Thank you for that. I currently get pretty good fps and load times are short, but occasionally on large battles it slows down for a few seconds when moving the. I have AA set to x16, so ill try lowering that (maybe my gpu cant handle it). As far as mods, I will at least try them out. If I get terrible fps ill remove them, but Im confident I can tweak the settings for my rig. Combat mission is also a game where 30 FPS is enough, so I really just need to make sure it doesn't drop to 10 fps like it does some times.
  5. Hello Combat Mission community, I am back again, this time to get your "must have" mods. I want to make a forum post, so all new players like myself can get familiar with the "go to" mods. I've been playing around with quick battles, and have been getting used to all the controls. One thing I noticed, is performance isn't amazing. I used NVIDIA control panel to tweak the settings, and I figured that this game is CPU heavy. I have a GTX 770, a I7-4790k as well as 16 gb of ram, so I wish to pick up some mods to possibly get more out of my GPU, as well as a more immersive experience. I am looking for: A HD overhaul for buildings, terrain, and if possible, those terrible map backdrop (please tell me how much of a performance impact the mod has) Unit Packs (More units would be nice) HD Units (the normal ones are nice, I would just like to see other options for better visuals) Sound overhaul (once again, I want to know the performance impact, if any) Those are just the core mods I am looking for, but please, If there are other mods that you strongly recommend; go for it. I really just want to experience all of the amazing content this community has created. And what better way to find great mods, than to ask you guys directly. A few questions I have about mods, can you use them in multiplayer (i'm not ready for multiplayer yet, I'll come back later for that), A video on how to install mods would be great, and lastly how do I install custom scenarios? Thank you for your help, and recommendations.
  6. Thank you, that is all I needed.
  7. Hello Combat Mission Community, I have recently made the plunge into the combat mission series. I got Red Thunder as my first game, and I am enjoying it greatly. I have a lot to learn, but I am getting to controls down. The one problem i'm having, is that there is no 1080p setting, I am using a 1080p monitor but, i don't see an option to enable it. I set the screen to "Desktop" but I'm not sure if its using the full 1080p. Is there a way to force 1080p, or is the "desktop" setting doing this? Thanks for the quick troubleshooting, Milesb11
  8. So guys, I got a chance to purchase CM:RT today! I played a quick mission for 2 hours, in which I commanded a battalion of German infantry against an onslaught of Russian soldiers who were attacking a town. It seemed kinda like the quick battle was defender sided, maybe it was the map. Is there anyway to have the attacker get more troops than the defender? Anyways, I am very happy with my choice, but I feel as if I could have played a WW2 demo with the 3.0 engine, i would have gotten the CM:BN big bundle. I now see why all of you encouraged me to get it in the first place. I'm already thinking about the next game I get in the series, I guess it depends on how much $$$ I have after I complete most of Red Thunder, either CM:BN big bundle (If i have a lot of cash) or Black Sea (If I am looking for modern game play, or stiff on money). If i had one thing to ask the developers, to help newer players get into the series.Update the demos with the newest engine, your game is amazing, show it off in full force! The CM:BN demo was a terrible way of getting me into the WW2 scene, CM:FI's demo wasn't that bad, and I loved that one mission from CM:BS. And like others suggested, I hope they lower the bundles by a little more which would make buying older games more common for newbies like me, but hey, developers have to live somewhere too. Overall, I am very graceful of this community's support. Some people mentioned i should join a group to get into multiplayer, which I will, after i get more used to the game. If anyone has some tips, or wants to challenge a noob to a match, send me a PM or post a comment in this thread i guess. Thanks for all your help Best regards, Milesb11
  9. I very much would get CM:BN, but as I stated I simply don't have the money for all my games. I also am looking to get that new Rainbow six game if the reviews are good, and Im a backer of star citizen. I just can't be spending 200+ on video games, I'll hold of on Normandy and get Bulge when it comes out, hopefully in the next year.
  10. Thank you for that! I have watched all the videos you guys submitted, and I am leaning towards CM:RT as its cheap, has 3.0 included, and I want to learn more about the eastern front. Then I can always get CM:BN or CM:BS
  11. Does anyone have a general idea of when the new bulge game will come out?
  12. Thank you so much! I'll watch them when I get a chance.
  13. Thank you for your extensive reply, I'll provide some feed back so you can help me butcher the options down a little further. I finally got a chance to sit down and try out a scenario, CMBS really amazed me on the gauntlet mission, it was all infantry and was exactly what I was looking for. That being said, I'm sure most the missions are more vehicle centered. The other demos seem a little outdated, so I will have to compare them to youtube videos of the other games. As for the theater I want, It really doesn't matter for me, it seems like most the WW2 games are similar while the modern ones are a whole different beast. The modern games seem like they focus a whole lot on the gear you have, and how you use this gear (NVGs, AT4s, rifle grenades, etc.). While the older ones seem like where you place your troops and the timing of your attacks. I personally used to be a WW2 buff, so really every part of the war interests me. However me being an America, I usually like playing as my own nation. And for Black sea, I have been recently watching some reports on the war. Both WW2 and the Ukraine-Russian war interest me equally, I guess it all depends on what type of gameplay I am looking for. If anyone can show me some good videos comparing or showing off distinct gameplay footage of what I should expect, I think I can make my final decision, after all...I can get another one in a month or so. And I have also Decided that the $105 is too much, so maybe I should pick up either Black Sea, Red Thunder, or Fortress Italy bundle and then decide If its worth it to me before purchasing the whole BN pack. Also is there any news or speculation when the Battle of the bulge will come out? If its over a year away, it wont effect my decision. Only if it is 6 months or closer; I would just get Black Sea, and pick up a WW2 game then.
  14. So what do you recommend I do? I have deffinatly eliminated the Big Bundle from my options...Would CMBN still be worth it?
  15. I just checked the CM:BN big package, $105 is a bit to much to drop right now, in fear that I won't enjoy the game or am not good at it and loose interest. I also picked up the CM:BN demo so between the 3 demos, I'll find my favorite. All of you made good suggestions and I will keep them in mind while making my final choice. A lot of you, said that its all preference, so I will just play around with the demos and find the time period and factions I enjoy the most. One question I have about the demos, I'm not sure if its reflected in the full games. Is the fact that I get terrible performance, I have a GTX 770 and an I7-4790k, as well as 16 gb of ram. When I zoom in i get terrible shadows on trees, the trees bug out while moving the camera, and the game has some weird screen resolutions. I found a post about this, and they said to edit the Nvidia control panel, which I will, but can any of you recommend some settings I use?
  16. Okay, thank you for pointing this out. I just assumed that because CM:BN was 5 years old it wouldn't be worth it. A lot of people said that they felt it was too claustrophobic, so i've been hesitant on picking it. And the problem i'm seeing with CM:FI is that the Italian force is very hard to use, which would make it hard for me. The main things I am looking for my first purchase, is really just an active player base and easy to get into. So do you mind telling me what you thought the easiest game was for you? I am very interested in the western front, so I will watch some videos on CM:BN. Thanks for your help.
  17. Thank you all for your great suggestions! This community is truly great, and I look forward to sticking around. I just downloaded the CM:FI demo, so I can compare it to Black Sea. Haven't gotten around to playing it, but Im so excited. Right now I'm leading towards either Black Sea or Red Thunder, as they are newer, and Wiggum pointed out it would be cheaper. Once again, thank you guys, have a good one.
  18. Would any of you recommend Red Thunder, over Fortress Italy? Also, which game would be the easiest for a newbie to get into. The game seems like it has a massive learning curve, so what game would ease me into the series.
  19. Hello Combat Mission community, Lately, I have been craving a hardcore, strategy game that gives the player more command over their troops(unlike civ 5). I picked up the mobile game and the demo, and have had some great fun with them. I have decided to pick up one of the combat mission games,as they are expensive,I will get only one(for now). Just in case it isn't the game for me. Logically, you would want to get the newest one, which would be Black Sea. This would because it would have a bigger player base, and hopefully the newest game mechanics. However, before I do so, I wanted to ask the community if getting Fortress Italy would bring me more enjoyment. One thing I really liked about the mobile game, and WW2 games in general, is that tanks could take a beating. Sometimes your tank would bounce a shell and be able to swivel around and fire a shot off, positioning played a huge role, and I felt placement was the key to wining battles. The advanced tanks in Black Sea, seemed as if, who ever spots the enemy first usually wins, maybe I have not played enough. But, in the 2-3 hours I played on the demo, thats what I saw. Another concern I have about Black Sea, is that Im not sure how infantry focused it is. I like having some tank/IFV/troop transports, but, I really love having to sneak your men into a flanking position to minimize causalities. I would like your opinion on the best CM game, and if you think I would enjoy an older WW2 game versus Black Sea. If so, how many people still play online in the older games, such as Fortress Italy.
