  1. Hi all! I hope everyone is well. I signed up for Geforce NOW recently (nVidia's cloud gaming service). I was surprised to find CMCW on the list of supported titles! It works quite well! The other Steam-released games don't show up though. Does anyone know if there are any plans to support other CM games via Geforce NOW? It's great for people with less powerful rigs who want to play bigger scenarios! ~AbM
  2. I put my keys in LastPass so I can find them easily whenever I have to reinstall to avoid this issue! Hopefully as they come out in Steam in will slowly obviate the issue. =D
  3. I have an ancient Mid-2013 MacBook Pro and all the CM 4.0 engine games on it. They run fine. Sometimes I have to dial down the settings a bit because I don't have a dedicated graphics card in it, but I've played all the games on it!
  4. I may not have seen this in the dozens of pages, but the Robotech fighters' paintjob is based on the US Navy squadron the Jolly Rogers (VF-84).
  5. I have a 2013 Intel MBP and it has played CM well generally. It struggles on a couple of the large maps in CMCW, especially when the "setup zone" blue overlay is onscreen before the turn starts. Otherwise it does fine! I have a gaming PC I use for CM more often than not, but the MBP means I can take it on the go!
  6. I know this is an old post, but looks like Cold War has a new release date of November 16th on Steam! Woo! =D
  7. I stand ready to be corrected here; this is me recounting my experience playing the games over time. Others here may be able to give a more detailed and accurate explanation of the mechanics that are happening!
  8. The Suppression meter generally shows you how much fire the unit is currently receiving. The more suppression, the less the pixeltrooper will return fire and observe (i.e. they will cower more the more fire is incoming). With enough supression, they may become pinned, which means they will stay put and ignore movement orders. With further degradation, they will become shaken, which means they won't respond to move OR fire commands. So suppression has the immediate effect of reducing a units output of fire, and eventually it will cause them to be pinned, shaken, panicked, etc., especially if they start taking casualties. The quality of the unit determines how effective suppression is against and how fast morale degrades in the face of continuing suppression. A unit is "being suppressed" when its suppression meter is lit up. Suppression is a an effect of enemy fire that lasts as long as the fire continues. Pinning is a morale state that endures slightly longer depending on the unit's quality, communication with its leader, etc.
  9. Shock Force 2 and Black Sea are both on there, and Cold War will be there (hopefully) soon. Is Normandy heading there too? That would be nice if Slitherine would get the whole catalog up. Saves me a lot of effort sorting out all these ancient license keys XD
  10. I have a 2013 MBP (an intel one) and the only time it struggles is on large maps with really large deployment zones. For whatever reason it hates rendering that color overlay! Thinking about one of the new M1 Pro MBP's. If I get one, I'll let everyone know how it runs!
  11. It's a tough call but I'd say CMBN and CMSF are my favorites. Cold War is coming on strong though! CMSF has such a compelling problem of having all the firepower and toys on the NATO side but not being willing to take casualties. It makes what often seems straightforward become a meticulous and careful engagement to avoid a lucky RPG or ATGM hit by the opfor. CMBN is just loaded with scenarios and units with all the add ons, and the Normandy terrain (later Holland) provides such challenging situations.
  12. Yes. That does seem to help them get out slightly faster if they survive the ATGM impact!
  13. The inability of my M48s to see the Soviet tanks and BMPs while they are getting popped is infuriating! Somebody get these guys some thermal sights! =D
  14. But no, seriously, I just don't think they've got that sort of logic for smoke rounds built into the system. Would be cool though!
  15. You can't fire WP into a building! Somebody might get hurt!
  16. Is La Fiere causeway in one of the CMBN campaigns? Or is there a good user-created campaign or scenario? Just watched the recent PBS documentary Seize and Secure and it put me in mind to try the CMBN version!
  17. It turned out to be the scaling! It was set to 125%. When I set it back to 100%, the game was nice a sharp. Thanks for the answer! Best, AbM
  18. Someone should really take up the mantle and get bayonet strength back up. I mean, not me. I'm very busy!
  19. Hi all! Finally got my gaming PC back up and running after being on a Mac laptop for a while. I installed CMBN 4.02 and activated but I can't set the resolution to 1440p, and if I choose Desktop it's all messed up looking. Specs: GeForce GTX 1660 Ti GPU Ryzen R7 2700X CPU 16GB RAM Asus X470 motherboard etc etc I'm sure there's a solution but my initial forum search didn't turn up anything. Thanks in advance! Best, AbM
  20. Finding random stuff on the internet based on vague recollection is my superpower. =) Glad I could help! Best, AbM
  21. I know it's too late, but I have two of those specific Dell's and they are fine for CM. Welcome back Erwin!
  22. Everything is running good on my MacBook Pro. I've got CMBN, CMFI, CMRT, CMBS, CMFB, and CMSF2 on here all updated.
  23. CMBN is running as 4.01 on my 2013 MacBook Pro. The changes/resolution already reported are clearly in evidence. BAR men seem to be dropping the hammer in a more sensible fashion and my first mortar attacks on defending Germans in foxholes have seen them hunkering down instead of making a run for it. Seems to have done the trick so far! If I find anything to complain about... well, you know me. But Steve and crew have my hundreds of dollars and can expect more for each expansion, so I imagine my complaints won't be TOO hurtful! ~AbM
