  1. Interesting, I know CM is heavily organization driven, with everything broken down by force orgs and what not, but is the research all and all more in depth than sources like this->http://www.ibiblio.org/hyperwar/Japan/IJA/HB/HB-3.html<-do we know? I know literally every detail has been meticulously researched, and it makes sense not to use the Japanese because their records aren't exactly perfect, but would more sources like this be enough, I mean, I'd gladly do a bunch of research myself if it helped.
  2. Out of curiosity (I'm relatively new to the forum, please don't hurt me), why no Pacific? Wouldn't it mostly be island that are smaller than huge CMBN maps? I know jungles are the worst, but naval landings seeem feasible, now that they have amphibious vehicles...
  3. Is there any chance that the next dlc/update of CMBS may add the capabilities for amphibious landings (with landing craft, rather than BMPs)? I know CMSF had craft for that sort of operation (not sure if they could be waterborne or not though), I know I'm not the only one who would enjoy a few botched landings at Sevastopol
  4. *Before any starts, lets keep the Armata and its potential out of the discussion* So I've been having this civil debate with this person over which tank, in general, is superior. I know that there are quite a few tankers and tank enthusiasts here, and to be completely honest, my knowledge of armored warfare probably isn't entirely up to snuff. I'd also encourage the uses of sources, complete sentences, and historical examples and precedents (like the 1st and 2nd Iraq and Chechen wars, testing, etc.) And remember, we all love Russia and America equally, save any jingoism for later... Some sources so far (I know many of these are probably biased for or against whatever tanks, because of sources of origin, but whatevs): * http://www.armyrecognition.com/russia_russian_army_tank_heavy_armoured_vehicles_u/t-90_mbt_main_battle_tank_technical_data_sheet_specifications_information_description_pictures.html * http://www.armyrecognition.com/russia_russian_army_tank_heavy_armoured_vehicles_u/t-90ms_main_battle_tank_data_sheet_specifications_information_specifications_pictures.html * http://fofanov.armor.kiev.ua/Tanks/ARM/apfsds/ammo.html * http://dokwar.ru/publ/vooruzhenie/bronetekhnika/sravnenie_tankov_altay_leopard_2a_t_90/13-1-0-45 * http://www.strategicstudiesinstitute.army.mil/pdffiles/PUB1069.pdf * http://mdb.cast.ru/mdb/3-2002/ac/raowdsmcc/
  5. Didn't see this created yet, so I decided to jump the gun. The siller the slaughter the better... Played a game, 4 Bradley's with no airsupport vs 20 Russian Infantry transports, the transports never had a chance, nor did their complement of hundreds.
  6. Well, that was understandably blocked quickly, but what I meant to elaborate on, was having things like, I dunno, an entire map shaped like the classic silly face of Kilroy, from "Kilroy was here".
  7. When I saw this, my first thought was, "brah, no chill", and then I thought, hey, that would be a pretty cool thing, a quick map easter egg hunt.....[ attachment=3032:Screen Shot 2015-02-01 at 10.13.52 PM.png]
  8. If by a while, you mean like 10 minutes minimum, then yes...
  9. Real-Time on iron, I occasionally use the pause button for semi-complex maneuvers, but unless its like something like moving every individual unit in a battalion, the pause button isn't on very long... Same here...
  10. Still desperately trying to solve the .pkg problem for mac, the download issue has already been discussed...
  11. Still, very curious about the mac install question...
  12. The Putinian Junkie has a point, but just curious, for anyone who has had any 2.0 gen CM games for mac, was there an install pkg. or just a DMG?
  13. While Bahger does have a point in comparing the scale in terms of strategy and overall strategy, the added possibility of animating building entries of the would add a whole other magnitude of realism to the game. If some modifications were made to the engine, to allow for wiggle room in creating animations for door breaching and what not, things like casualties from storming rooms and what not would be infinitely more accurate (although I'm not arguing it would be worth the effort, adding furniture and just generally having an overhaul of building interiors) .
  14. I know the quality of an infantry force cannot be seen just through numbers and data alone, but traditionally some forces have been seen as better than others. That being said, is there a certain hierarchy to the infantry of CMBS (in this case not counting special weapons, just the regular grunt). Would it look something like American>Russian>Ukranian or American~Russian>Ukranian (I'm completely spit balling here and just going from the traditional military standpoint, based off of Soviet Afghanistan, Russian Georgia, American Iraq, etc..)
  15. Makes sense, but speaking of irregulars (and I apologize for possibly asking something probably answered), will there be an expansion pack adding Donetsk separatists to the Russians, or even Ukrainian militia (the few that there are) to the game?
  16. To the best of my knowledge at this point the airport is just a focal point where a large body of forces are engaged, its more of a symbol at this point. And I can't describe very well the terrain and what not, from what I've seen its basically your typical rolling plain like landscape. Also, just curious, should we confine this topic and the the CMBS thread to strictly the conflict in Ukraine, or can we also talk about the Syrian coflict and others in tandem? Its just, we probably won't get over ten users conversing at the same time on something like the CMSF thread...
  17. Hey Steve, and all other readers. It has basically been my impression from the lack of "major" news coming from the war, and basically stagnating casualty rates, that the conflict has basically become a stalemate. Does this seem to be the case at all, I mean, its not like Middle-east where battle lines are changing everyday?
  18. I know the AI is generally just supposed to be a punching bag for the player to slaughter over and over again, but is there any chance they will have a higher difficulty level than in shock force and battle for Normandy. I don't mean like a whole revamp or anything, just an AI competent enough to know that it probably shouldn't meander up the strategically important hill or that it shouldn't continuously pour tanks into a choke point once the first I dunno eight T-90s are smoking hulks. Or even just the little things, like not walking out of the spawn, sending out probing parties rather than recces "in force", or maybe even semi-coordinated assaults rather than bum-rushes
  19. Well thats moderately unfortunate, not terribly terrifying, but hey war is war.
  20. My concerns precisely, white phosphorus tends to make me partially squeamish to face and use. I know both sides have it, and I know that on occasion both sides use it, I was primarily concerned with whether or not I would have to make my men run away from smoke screens ....
  21. Will there be white phosphorus, or any type of lethal/incapacitating agents used in shells or hand grenades or what not?
  22. Antares is right, the US player even when outnumbered 10 to 1 against regulars or in some cases against heavy infantry will probably come out ahead, (its feels stacked, which it is like in real life). If there is a hostile M1 to a hill opposite to anyplace your men can see, you might as well either quit the game or use every air asset you have on it, because it will obliterate any T-90s or BMPs you have as soon as it can see them, and it probably won't run out of ammo...
  23. When you rush your transports and armored fighting vehicles to the high ground, dismount them as fast as possible, possibly before you crest the heights. AFVs do not stand up well to T-90s or Abrams, and they have a nasty habit of taking all of your men down with you when they explode. Also, this may be self evident, but don't engage normal American infantry in close quarters combat with infantry from any other country or skill level, you will get lit up, even if you win you'll have a heap of casualties. Just pin them or take them out either as soon as you see them or as soon as they get in range. Their grenade launcher men tend to pin hostiles rather quickly, and they are very effective.
