  1. Thanks, it's working but is not looking like I expected.
  2. Not sure I understand. What do you mean save the BMP in black? Just to be clear, I want to make invisible part of a bmp, not the whole BMP
  3. Is there a way to have parts of uniforms transparent in the BMP format that Combat Mission uses? I know there is a way to make all of a texture transparent, like making chin straps invisible in various mods. I want to make shoulder straps invisible in various CM:A uniforms, this game has the shoulder strap in another part of the uniform texture, not in the shoulder, and it puts it in the shoulder ingame, so editing it is quite difficult, making it transparent would be way easier. Does that make any sense?
  4. These are 1:100.000. Click on the part of Afghanistan you want, and then again on the map for full scale. http://kunar.artofwar.ru/maps/200k/html/index.html
  5. Try a bigger bridge, or maybe try the same you tried in the first picture but delete the track tiles connecting to the bridge. Something else to try is setting the water to 15 in the bridge tile.
  6. If you are using any mods, try removing them. I have seen performance taking a hit if the game is heavily modded.
  7. There are at least two simple ways of getting to your files. My steam is in Spanish, but it should be fairly simple to follow.
  8. I edit the original BMP with Paint, maybe that's the trick.
  9. I used wireless for 10 years when I only had a laptop and was under the impression my Internet connection was really good at around 2MB on a good day. A couple of months ago I bought a desktop and installed an ethernet cable, (had to run it across some 20m) and I'm on 10MB pretty constantly.
  10. What I usually do is save the image as PNG, then make a copy of an original BMP from the game, edit the copy in paint and paste the PNG over it. Then I rename the file. Works every time.
  11. Hello Simicro! CM:A is one of my favourite games, and is the one I'm mostly playing these days. The game is definitely an oldie, and it comes with it's problems I will detail now, but first let me tell you it runs just fine in modern systems with high resolution. The stock campaigns are somewhat broken in my opinion. Refit is a bit random and you can find your troops out of ammo starting a mission, even if the last one was one or two months ago. The 40th army had its supply issues but not that bad! Soviet squads tend to be quite small, specially later in the war, sometimes 5 men strong, so they are quite brittle. Models and textures are quite low resolution, there are mods that improve textures but the game is not as easy to mod as later ones, so mods are limited. I'm doing some mods myself that will post in the future. The community is quite small compared to newer games so there is not much new content. If you are a content creator, be aware that the map editor is not as robust as in newer games, lacking some features, most notably there are no overlay feature. As for bugs and glitches, nothing game braking for sure. The only glitch that comes to mind is the late war para models have a graphics glitch on the shoulder that messes up the model and the textures. But if you are interested in the Soviet Afghan war, the flaws are easily overlooked. Gameplay is fun and you have to take care of your troops like in all modern games. And you can't beat that price tag!
  12. Does anyone have this tool? Links are dead. I think this is the only tool that extracts core units from campaigns.
  13. Thanks! Downloaded for future preservation. I would encourage CM:A fans to give these mods a try, Billy_SP has done something I didn't know was possible, to mix headgear, now you can have soviets wearing fatigue hats and helmets in the same unit.
  14. I'm looking for some mods that where in the old Battlefront repository, all made by billy_sp Early Soviet Infantry Late Soviet Mech Infantry Late Soviet Para-Brown TTsKO Late Soviet Para-Green TTsKO Late Soviet Spetznaz_TTsKO Maybe someone here has them?
  15. I think you can move it to the data folder and rename it aaa so it will load before the default. The Z folder is there so it's the last thing it will load, but mods just need to be in the data folder. This won't work with uniform mods that have more variants than the stock game. But in the end it's best just to move it out of the game directory entirely.
  16. Thanks WimO! I have a project in mind and was wondering if size and height would be an issue, but apparently no.
  17. Congratulations to everyone involved for the release, specially to kohlenklau! I was reading the scenario creation PDF, and was wondering, if a scenario is designed to be played as the French only, can you still purchase the Italian mortar for the Germans and the Italian tank for the French? Maybe I should just give it a try myself, but I'm guessing the Italian infantry will be wearing a different uniform than the Italian tank crew? And if you are playing as the french, the language used by one or two mortar units in the opposing side shouldn't really break things too much?
  18. The mod is looking great! Thanks to everyone involved.
  19. Looks like the biggest stock map is around 1Km x 1Km, but what is the maximum map size CM:A can handle and what is the height? Does anybody know?
  20. Ha! Yes, but I think I can manage to get a few hours free for this fantastic mod. Early war is a period I would love to see in CM, and you are making it a reality.
  21. Thanks for the reply! My laptop was an HP DV6 like this one: https://gadgetaz.com/Laptop/HP_Pavilion_dv6-6135dx--4272 I think this new one is pretty similar, slightly better ram and graphics.
  22. Hello! It's been a long time... My trusty laptop died on me sometime in the beginning of 2022, so I have not been able to play CM. I'm finally able to buy a somewhat old piece of hardware and wanted to check If it will run CM Normandy with modules and CM Italy with Modules, I'm fairly sure it will run Afghanistan. Anyway, the specs are: I5 3rd Gen 16G RAM DDR3 GT1030 Graphics card. Thanks!!
