  1. My reason for suggesting you try @Bootie was down to the lack of Designer Notes, and authors name in the briefing. Like yourself I found the map a bit flat and feature less. Okey, back to the Reichwswald.
  2. It might be due to the size. When I looked at it earlier it did seem to stick on 98% for quite a while when loading. I doubt I'll actually be playing it anytime soon, too busy with real life, and Downfall at the moment.
  3. It does say. Or at least, it does in the Market-Garden Manual (near the bottom of page 42). And yes, it does give the range as "up to 6,800 m". I suspect that that is the range when firing HE indirectly, rather than when attempting to tank on enemy armour directly.
  4. Mission 4 - Reichswald. "If you go down in the woods today, you'd better be on the lookout for Jerry AA guns". As Henry Hall often sang.
  5. Perhaps the OP might like to fix his Caps Lock.
  6. "Verdammte Jocks. Ich bin hier raus!"... A rare moment of joy for me in the slug which mission 3 turned into.
  7. Funny you should say that, a mate of mine had a Milk Snatcher toilet roll holder. The paper came out of her mouth. I wish they still made them.
  8. Of course, back in '81. It was still the Five Nation's Championship. France beat England at Twickenham. The Milk Snatcher was on the throne, and I still had enough hair to "Spike".
  9. It is disappointing to find out that you have encountered the infamous bridge bug during this mission. Although sadly it comes as no surprise. It will still be quite some time before I take on the "Spearhead", and knowing my old noddle I will have forgotten about this post.
  10. I still refer to the site by the old name.
  11. No. When I buy a game I just create word documents for both the campaigns, and the battles. If I then find something on Green as jade that interests me I can just insert into my list. Back in the days of CM1 I kept everything in a note pad.
  12. Of course, those two weren't the only ones to kill tigers. Bungalow Bill did it as well, according to Johnnie Lenin and the Bolshevik Beat Boys. Anyway back the campaign. It is a tough one, but I enjoyed it.
  13. I've always played chronologically ever since Beyond Overlord.
  14. Lizzie Saxe-Coburg und Gotha and Phil the Greek enjoyed killing tigers.
  15. "give me a poke". It's lucky that Frankie Howerd's ghost doesn't play CM
  16. It's called "The Bridge". And I think that we all know which bridge it refers to.
  17. Time to hit the "Ignore" button on this one.
  18. As has been explained to you above. You can't use a panzerfaust on a tank that is outside of the faust's range. Have you actually read the manual?
  19. I didn't do German at school but I think the label reads. "Don't be a plonker. Always read the manual before using whilst playing Combat Mission." Okeh, so I'm paraphrasing just a tad.
  20. Are only as idiotic as the person giving them orders.
  21. Micro-management is part and parcel of the game. Just playing the demo for Red Thunder tells you that. It is a bit difficult to understand why what happens in the Seelow Heights battle would come as a surprise. It's a struggle moving a large force of tanks across a flood plain with few roads. But, that is what the Red Army had to do.
  22. All valid questions. If vehicles "unfailingly" do stupid things i.e. constantly, would any of us get past a demo, without deciding this game isn't for us?
