  1. Is Tac's last name AI?  I think I've played him before as well.  Hope to see more of these mini movies, Bloody Bill!

No. Tac is actually Tacticus the leader of the [N] Napoleonic's clan in Napoleon Total War.  We have played a few battles against each other.  This was the first one with CM helper that I could record.   I am always looking for opponents.  I have CMBN with all modules and I have RT.  I hope to get Italy soon.

  2. Glad to hear it. Yes usually our own tactical missteps are at fault but occasionally low probability events happen and even from time to time bugs.

When you say you could not reproduce the issue does that mean the PzIVs prevailed the second time?

Yes, I tried to move everything to the same spots for the turn but this time after losing one Pz IV three of his buddies responded killing the T34-85.

  3. IanL@ I got it working through the help desk.  I had to remove the app launcher from my folder and put it on the desktop....than copy paste it back in and the game ran just fine.  I have had no issue with wind 10 and CM before the update.

As for my CM situation I went back and looked at the battle but could not recreate what had happened.  I did notice that about 50M in front of the T34-85 was a rail fence so maybe this blocked LOF enough that my Pz IV's could no return fire.  In the future I will try and get my save files if I have any problems.  Honestly though most issues I have in game are my fault once I look into the problem :)

  4. It is unusual for sure.  I have not noticed this before.  My Pz IV's had ammo lol.  Sorry for no save file.  They simply would not shoot the T 34.  I seem to always have bad luck with armor but no worries I am sure its more on me than the game as the game is amazing.

note:  I did not mean the T34-85 killed all in one shot it killed them all one at a time taking only one shot for each kill.  I re-read my post sorry for the confusion.

  5. I don't understand spotting at times it really seems to make no sense.  I had a situation today where one Russian T34-85 buttoned up killed five Panzer IV.  T34-85 was regular buttoned up and nervous as all his buddies around him were dead.  The Panzer IV's were all Veteran and unbuttoned.  The fight was at 1,032meters.    The icons said I could see the Russian tank and eyeing it myself seemed to be able to see it as well.  The T34-85 just systematically shot and killed all five with one shot as fast as it could and my tanks kept pointing at the T34-85 but would not shoot.

  6. I would like to see two things be added/changed in the game series.

    1.  I would like to see a better unit integrity when it came to individual model space.  I notice a lot especially in woods I will have two or three infantry all mixed into one blob.  In a CMBN battle I had three CW soldiers killed by the same bullet all looking out the same window and all three models were mushed into one blob looking thing.  In another fight I took out a German tank in the gap of a hedgerow perfectly blocking the gap from being used by vehicles.  Other German tanks just morphed right through the knocked out tank.  So I would like to see a better individual model integrity so units  could not mush up into one another.

    2.  This one is just my want from many fights.  I know with the move commands we have fast, quick, move, hunt and slow.  I would like to have a move option that was similar to quick and than acted like hunt for the purpose when taking fire.  I would like to say throw some troops across and area they take fire and go to ground immediately as an option instead of running to their death in a straight line.  You could still have the normal quick move and all the others but adding a quick/hunt move order could keep your men a live better.

  7. Hey gents,

I have had a situation happen twice now and was just curious if it was bad luck or if I was doing something wrong.  I have hit my own spotter with the spotting round twice now in two separate battles.

First situation was my spotter unit called in 60mm mortal fire on a wood shed that had an MG inside of it 167m down a country lane.  My spotter had good sight on the shed and he called in a heavy, quick immediate fire order.  two minutes later the first spotting round came in and direct hit my spotter team killing both of them.  Spotting team were regulars.

Second situation was I had a company command team up in a third story building calling in 105 fire on a German HQ building.  The distance from my command team to the target was around 300m.  I called in the arty and the first spotting round landed 100m behind my command team and the next came in maybe 20m closer and so on and basically walked the arty spotting rounds right onto  the commander in the house hitting the top and killing the radio man.  Command team was regulars.

I have played CMBN for a few years now and have never had this happen before and than it happened in back to back games.  I also played a PBEM battle in which my opponent killed his own spotter with his German mortars around four turns into the game and asked to stop the battle.

Is this something that is happening now sometimes or my luck is really what I was wondering.

  8. I do like the increase in visuals that the modders bring to the game.  I really enjoy the hit markers for vehicles it is a nice visual add on and ads immersion.

My opinion only here now.....I enjoy CM for its WWII combat appeal.  I enjoy the thinking involved in command decisions and how unforgiving the game is.  Small unit tactics are amazing in this game.

I play this game with my two sons for a few reasons.  One....it is a game they have to use their brain and plan out a strategy and weigh the consequences of their choices.   Two...Their is a lot of Historical knowledge in this community and I have my boys research when possible the battles we fight.  My sons are 14 and 16 and they really enjoy CM and are getting pretty darn good at it.  They do not need blood and gore to enjoy the game.

If blood and gore was an option that would not bother me I just would not use it.  I would rather see the developers efforts in other areas.

I Don't know if this is the same kind of issue.  I had a Panther in a pbem game that took a beating and killed seven of my tanks including two Firefly's.  I hit the Panther 30+ times with nine penetrating.  The Panther never seemed to notice as it kept advancing and killing the whole game.  Here is one pic I took from Steam.

  10. It is hard to kill dug-in ATG's. Next time try machine-gunning one (Target Light area target order), have another tank SMOKE it, then move your HE chuckers up to kill it. If you're taking effective fire where you are, that should be where you aren't. You're in a kill-zone. Get out.

I don't know about this.  I had six Panthers hull down at around 900m.  I had a spotter to their front left that seen the at guns before I rolled up.  My Panthers fired and missed the at guns did not.  I get this result things happen, so be it.  My main point was that I lost all my Panthers in this battle....everyone of them with its main gun destroyed.  I lost three of the four stugs all with main gun destroyed.  This happened through the entire battle not just in one fight. I won the fight basically using my tanks as heavy mg platforms.  I was just curious if losing the main gun is a common thing or if I just had bad luck this battle.
