  1. It is a great read. I am really enjoying it. Learned a few things about the early days of Israel I didn't know as well. This reading in bed with no external light is one of the most useful features of a Kindle IMO. You can also highlight and write notes in the Kindle. A list of these highlights and notes are recorded in the notes section of the book. When you click on any of the items in this list it takes you to their location in the book. Very useful for reviewing and retrieving information. However I do prefer the look of the "real" books I have up on the bookshelves. The one worry I do have is if anything were to happen to all the highlighted, notated books I have stored in the Kindle "cloud". Maybe due to some electronic problem or virus issue? I guess the "real" books in the library could also all be lost in a fire or tornado............ Oh well, happy thoughts only.
  2. I thought the same thing at one time. Certain units have call privileges with or without radios. It is sometimes referred to as a field phone (wire line) abstraction. If the Forward Observer officer is KIA then even with the radio the F/O unit can't call for fire. I just recently discovered that some XO (2IC) units with no radios can call for arty fire. (I had sometimes been using XO units as medics. Now I more often use them to call for fire so the Platoon HQs can keep moving). Below is a screenshot of a similar situation. Edit to add: It somewhat surprised me to learn it is more about the individual with the call privileges than the radio when it comes to calling for fire missions. The radio is still important for C2 & vertical information sharing.
  3. That sounds like an interesting book. If you remember the name of it, and can post it, I will see if I can find it on Kindle. I just finished my last book and I'm looking for another to read.
  4. Wow Ian. Nice work as always. I hope BFC releases CMFB earlier resulting in your future Average All being shorter.
  5. Just FYI - The store page has the following: CM Final Blitzkrieg (Windows)Combat Mission: Black Sea is a military simulation depicting a fictional 2017 conflict between NATO and Russia in Ukraine. The Black Sea description did not get changed to a CMFB.
  6. I was looking at the TOE of different units and came across a few pieces of equipment I had not used in the game before. Cool game. 75mm recoilless gun.
  7. From a PBEM. The attack. Providing suppressive fire for the forward assault teams. Advancing past an OpFor Combat Security Outpost.
  8. Yeah, it doesn't seem like the troops are down in the seats all the way. Also I'm not sure the halftrack is wide enough. The interior seems wider in the photo @Maarten posted.
  9. The soft factors (which are adjustable down at the bottom left of the purchase screen) will change the price. Example: A Veteran, High morale, Fit, +1 Leadership will cost more than a Green, Normal morale, Fit, 0 Leadership unit. So, after you purchase the tank and it shows up on the right side of the screen highlight it. Then go down to the soft factors and set them to what you want (and can afford) and you will notice the price of the tank change accordingly.
  10. I think all the US infantry squads of a US infantry battalion are able Pop Smoke once. If you make an Assault Team split, as the first split, they will have the smoke. Also Platoon HQs can Pop Smoke.
  11. It does not seem like the troops heads should be sticking out the top of the 251 if they are sitting on the bench seats. Maybe this is part of the problem?
  12. I have had smoke rounds cause suppression and casualties but to a much lesser degree than HE. Also noticed that smoke rounds did not leave craters.
  13. As @Baneman said no fire and WP fires as smoke. I will just add that for off map arty and mortars the WP is part of the HE total and will fire with the HE. So if your off map US 81mm medium mortar has 110 HE and 8 WP you have 110 rounds total. 110 HE or 102 HE and 8 WP depending on the mission you call for. On map mortars will not mix the WP in with the HE. After a PBEM with on map mortars I often have them empty of HE but with the smoke (WP) still left. Probably clear as mud right?
  14. LOL As @IanL said use the installer. Also a few adult beverages and everything will work out ......
  15. In most cases you can. There are a circumstances where acquiring LOS across a particular field is difficult. This usually involves a field with tall crops (wheat being the usual culprit) and /or a field that has a higher elevation in the middle of the field. Your spotting troops can't get LOS to an action square on the other side of the field.
  16. I had to go through the same thing several months back. A bit of a PITA. New buyers have it easier I think but for those of us that have to re-install we have more hoops to jump through. BFC made an installer that speeds things up for us but the details of this installer can be a bit hard to figure out. Since it has been several months I don't remember all the details (not that I ever fully understood them all). The below thread has some useful information that should help. Hard to tell from the title but down around reply #11 it starts to talk about the installer thing which finally got me through the process. Hope this helps. http://community.battlefront.com/topic/120403-ui-not-found-please-check-that-you-have-the-proper-ui-resource-files/
  17. Thanks waclaw. I always use your sound mods. They are great. Not sure if I did something wrong when I downloaded and un-zipped this HQS2.2. The file looks different from other ones I have downloaded from you. After un-zipping the other sound mods have always been the yellow folder with more yellow folders inside labeled for the various sounds. However when I unzipped HQS 2.2 it unzipped to a single white file that reads packed.brz 1.15GB I tried using winzip to further unzip or (unpack?) the file but no luck. Is HQS2.2 suppose to be a .brz file after unzipping? Or my guess .......... I did something wrong................. EDIT: Or maybe I should just change the name from packed.brz to HQS 2.2.brz and then put it in my Z folder? 2 EDIT: Okay, it is suppose to be a .brz No problem. Great mod.
  18. There is a Road to Mounteburg Redux. That may be how you came to download it.
  19. It will not effect their spotting range. My SOP is a 360o 32 meter self defense Target Arc. (Hold the shift key) One draw back is if they have a high morale rating they may stick to this short target arc when it is not in their best interest. (If they have a regular morale rating they are more likely to disregard it if things go south) Like an OpFor fire team appears at 40 meters. But in general this Target Arc works for my scouts.
  20. Greenasjade site at the Few Good Men. I tried to post the link below but had some technical difficulty so not sure if it worked right. Ninjaed by Raptorx7!! http://cmmodsiii.greenasjade.net/
  21. Rock, thank you very much for taking the time and effort to translate and post this. Very interesting information. I may try to make a training map roughly based on that diagram if I get the time. Thanks again.
