  1. Hi Hubert:  Thanks for the agreement with my proposal! If other players agree and support Battlefront gaming ladders... how does this proposal move forward?
  2. Hubert and Fellow Global Conflict Players:  Has there been any thought on setting up a Global Conflict gaming ladder? Gaming ladders are one way of tracking a player's progress over time. Players could be awarded "ladder points" for both winning and losing matches. Win percentages and games played could be associated and included with a player's Battlefront profile. Gaming ladders can encourage PBeM activity and provide players with a way to assess others' skill levels. It could also help discourage, or at least penalize those "disappearing" opponents - players who suddenly stop replying to emails during a match. Obviously, gaming ladders could be expanded to include all Battlefront games - but my immediate interest is with the possibility of establishing a Global Conflict gaming ladder. What do you guys think about my proposal?
  3. Yes! This is the strategy I adopted as the French. However, I did see an opportunity to strike an advancing German infantry army... so I attacked out of Paris with the French tanks... and followed up the armor attack with an accompanying attack by the BEF to completely destroy the German unit! Unfortunately, I suffered over 50% armor casualties... and may lose Paris on the next turn! "C'est la vie!"
  4. That would be a nice option for the Allies! Unfortunately, the Maginot Line was built in several phases starting in 1930, and by 1939, the start year for the full campaign game, it was mostly complete. So, as the Allied player, you don't get to influence that "blunder" since it had already taken place!
  5. Gents:  I am playing my first Global Conflict (Gold) campaign game (1939 World at War) against a human opponent! I'm the Allies. It's March 1940, and my German opponent has sliced through the low countries... is on the outskirts of Paris... and has effectively out flanked my Maginot Line defenses! Question - What were the French thinking when they invested all their resources and manpower into the Maginot Line? I have 4 French armies defending the Maginot Line and Ardennes Mine. Strategy options: (1.) Do I keep these armies in their current defense positions and hold out as long as possible? These positions will shortly be surrounded by German forces. or... (2.) Do I abandon both the Maginot Line and Ardennes Mine... fall back and attempt to defend southern France? Global Conflict vets - what do you think? Also, what options do Allied players have when it comes to defending France? Seems to me that no matter what the Allied player does, France will fall? BTW... I have a couple of weeks until I can make my next Allied turn... so any and all replies much appreciated!
  6. Gents:  Just took the "leap" and purchased Global Conflict! Fantastic game system! Looking for a PBeM opponent for the standard 1939 Campaign (Global Conflict - Gold, Patch 1.04) I'll play Axis or Allies. Rules are negotiable. Interested? Drop me a line at: mikewest455 (at) gmail.com and we can discuss the details. Look forward to your email!
  7. Gents:  Despite the lack of replies, I have moved forward and purchased Global Conflict! It looks really good and I am anxious to find an opponent! I'll post in the "looking for an opponent" thread.
  8. Gents:  I purchased SC WWII Pacific Theater several months ago and really love this game system! I've played several PBeM scenarios (not so enjoyable) and currently have two PBeM Operation Z (Campaign games) underway with different opponents (lots of fun!) So... SC WWII Pacific Theater has whet my appetite... and I am taking a hard look at SC WWII Global Conflict. A few questions to veteran Global Conflict players. (1.) Is there an active and large PBeM player base? I do not want to purchase this game system and only play against the AI. (2.) How steep is the learning curve? I have several months experience playing SC WWII Pacific Theater. I assume the same game mechanics apply in Global Conflict? (3.) Global Conflict has how many game patches? I am thinking of purchasing the Gold Bundle and need to understand how to patch it up to the most current version. Many thanks in advance to your replies!
  9. Thanks Bill Really enjoying SCWW2 Pacific Theater! I have two campaign games (Operation Z) and several scenarios underway against two opponents! PBeM really shines!
  10. Opponent Wanted - Closed Gents:  Found several opponents for the campaign game (Operation Z) and several scenarios at The Blitz! http://www.theblitz.org/message_boards/forumdisplay.php?fid=16 Come on over and join us there! Unfortunately, this Forum does not have much activity - at least for SCWW2 Pacific Theater?
  11. Gents:  I recently purchased Strategic Command WW2: Pacific Theater! Now, I need to find an Allied opponent! Would like to play the campaign game "Operation Z" December 7, 1941 Optional rules = fog of war and weather Obviously, the campaign game requires a serious time commitment... so once I receive a player's response to my "opponent wanted" post... we can decide overall turn length (e.g. how many game years we want to play and other details) Please reply to mikewest455 (at) gmail.com Look forward to seeing you in the Pacific Theater shortly!
