    Thanks much, guys.
@MOS:96B2P LOL. BF couldn't use my my menus because I am making them with pics I find on the net. All I am doing is adding text I design to try to invoke the flavor of the settings. It doesn't seem like much when it's said, but believe it or not I spent over four hours doing the FB mod. I was getting ready to close out Adobe after a long stretch of portrait modding and I was like, I want to to take a minute and mess with these Bulge pics I found. Next thing I know the sun is coming up! It's a nice change to do some menus, considering I have been exclusively modding portraits since December of 2017. And I have been modding straight out since August. Not quite everyday, but it feels like it at times. Normally the second October hits I drop everything and spend the month immersed in Horror but this year is different for some reason. I have a military bug I can't shake.

I feel I've finally started to build an intuitive tactical library for CMBS.
I've always played chess, on/off and while I'm. Not reactionary per se, I'm definitely limited in how far ahead AI think.
I found CM was like that, each battle was a whole New OMG WTF HALP HALP FIRE EVERYTHING NEEOOWWWWW GO GO GO waitwherethe****iseveryone ARGH
Nowadays there's less OMG and more Dammit My Pixeltrupoen farted and the Bradley 3km away smelled them, drop the 152s hard, boys.
I find the best thing, as intuited above, is to pick a force and stick with them. So, (because I'm ever so slightly retarded) , I choose UKR - hardest to play and utterly helpless if you have a crappy plan. US/RUS forces can still get you out of a scrape but UKR forces are DOOOMMMED if you don't plan properly.
So they're my training school, and a brutal one it is too. But I've built a little set if tactics for various events, with my actions triggered by that same note above - pattern recognition.
Reading the enemy movements = survival.
In CMBS if you're alive you're winning.

This is perhaps the worst aspect of playing CM, at least for me. It is why I generally prefer games set on the operational or strategic level. In that level of simulation, I can maintain a certain emotional distance. I still want my units to perform well and not get destroyed or hindered, but it's not so immediate as actually hearing my troops crying out that they are wounded or hearing them scream with their last breath. I endure to play CM only because it is superb.

I didn't think it was going to be a long wait either, in the fall of 2015, when it was said that the release of Final Blitzkrieg was close. Then, as time went on, I thought there was going to be a release at the anniversary of the start of the Battle of the Bulge, in December... but no, it was not released until in April 2016. So, I am not holding my breath for CMSF 2 or an Engine 4 patch anytime soon. Like I said, we're on Battlefront time here.

Yeah, Hull Down is best used like this:

The above example is still a little risky (a little over-emphasised for effect) - if the target point can't find a hull down position along the move path, then the tank will move to the end of the Hull Down command regardless - so in this case this would include cresting the hill and over the other side, which could be dangerous. Probably sensible to try to stick the Hull Down waypoint on your side of the hill, so in the worst case it'll either not get LOS, or it'll be partially covered.

(The "Target" command in this case will not cause the tank to fire.)

Without the target command, the Tank tries to find a Hull Down to that point, and if it can't then it will just complete the move. With the above you can control where your vehicle ends up significantly more accurately.

    End result of the above:

Isolate small portions of the battlefield. Establish overwatch, suppression, and then move in.
To isolate, tanks do very well to dominate long streets. Of course, the enemy likes stationary tanks.
Isolate a block, move up. Watch it. If you can, get some units to flank it. If you cannot control the back of the block/building, at least cover most of the exits.
Then, use firepower to suppress and move forward. It only takes 15-30 seconds of suppression. The goal is to get the defenders to duck down. Then, your guys move up and look in the windows. Like fish in a barrel. Next, SLOW or HUNT into the building with a tight covered arc so your men can see what's out the back.
That, at least, is one technique.

    One last thing:
Try to give the other player a good game. Winning and losing are all well and good, but I'd rather lose a good game, than win a bad one.

    So...
Analysis: Or: "Things Wot I Knowledged In My Brain"
My placement of TRP's was incorrect. I placed them inside the victory locations, reasoning that upon losing the location, I could fire my artillery into it. I don't think I should have planned on losing, but instead I should have planned on winning, and dropping my arty on several approach routes I correctly surmised the enemy would use. My placement of wire could have been better, but the prevailing visibility left me with few options. Either place it where I can see it, or place it where I can't. The alternative is just to not use wire, but a defensive position without wire is like a pizza without cheese. I just don't understand the logic. The scout team I sent out at the beginning of the game did absolutely nothing useful, and was a complete waste of time and points. I apologize for the inconvenience. My overall force purchase was adequate to meet my objectives, I had a rather high volume of fire in a small package. In fact, I think the Fusiliers are my favorite formation, maybe because they have a cool name. The 'qualitative advantage' I referred to early on was elevating the soft factors of my HQ units. I strongly suggest this option when customizing a HTH force. Your HQ units are by far the most important part of your formation. If your whole formation is 'Regular' set your HQ's to 'Veteran', even if you have to dump some points. If your formation is poorly motivated, make sure your HQ's are properly motivated before operations begin. Setting my troops motivation to -1 had no effect on the battle. Bullets are still bullets, no matter how well motivated the individual. If we were fighting at longer ranges in daylight, then poorly motivated troops become a liability. At close range in the dark, firefights begin and end before any major break in morale or motivation. In fact, having my entire formation poorly motivated seemed to make it slightly easier to break contact when I wanted to. If you're fighting at night, maintain contact with the enemy as much as possible. If you are shooting, he most likely is shooting back. That makes it easier to keep an eye on him. Before decisively engaging the enemy, do some back of the envelope calculations: How many men are on both sides? How much ammo do you have? What type of weapons do you have, and what volume of fire can you expect at various ranges? How much firepower does the enemy have? At what ranges? If you can't answer these questions, don't engage, keep observing. When you are ready to engage decisively, use everything. Even Section HQ's named Carstens who are useless lumps good for nothing but staring blankly in the wrong direction through binoculars still have an MP-40 and some hand grenades. Most importantly, always remember there is a person in charge of the enemy. You're not fighting the enemy troops, you are fighting the person. Never forget that. Questions?

I think patience is key. Let Battlefront decide when to release the game, they know best about their product. It is not that we will really miss about something, just that we have to wait a little bit longer, which is fine.

I think no single event proved more catastrophic for Italy than the Invasion of Greece, a campaign which goes to show victory can be a defeat all its own. Despite eventually succeeding (with German assistance) the complete debacle it degenerated into confirmed OKW perceptions that Italy was an inferior, and thus they were entitled to whatever they needed from it. Being a junior partner to Nazi Germany was always bad for your health, because at their best the Nazis weren't going to help and at their worst they would cannibalize nearby allies when they were weak. Without any political or military currency to influence Germany, Mussolini was doomed to become "Our Gaulieter in Italy"  in the words of German troops and Italy another expendable Axis pawn.
The irony is Italy possessed a number of assets Germany ended up badly in need of, a navy, large manpower reserves (!!!!), bases with close proximity to vulnerable British ones, etc. Of course converting a lot of these things into useful tools for the Axis war effort was just completely beyond the Frat-Boy Prussian Officers of the OKW, who revealed on multiple occasions that coalition warfare and all of its importance completely eluded them. They simply assumed that Hitler was managing Germany's allies and in turn Hitler assumed they were working up plans all the time to incorporate those allies into Axis strategy. For how well this was working reference: Operation Uranus.
