  1. Thanks very much for the responses - much appreciated indeed. I will keep an eye open for when it re-releases with the 4.0 update and purchase then :-)
  2. Hi guys, I have been on a bit of a spending spree lately upgrading my CMFB, CMBN with all the add ons/mods/scen etc and am trying to do the same for CMFI however I cannot seem to find the GL add-on to purchase. Has it been discontinued or similar? Any help would be greatly appreciated and many thanks in advance All the very best
  3. Personally I sought out all the AT guns ....as I knew they would likely be on the ridge and possibly mortars on the reverse slope behind the Abbey. My hunch was pretty much correct (for once !!). I used spotters to identify AT positions on the right hand side of the map of which there were 2 ....possibly three ... cant quite remember. So I bombarded them. I also sent a scout car onto the left of the map to the road and drove it up the road to try and scout for more AT ....it was hit ...therefore I knew there had to be an AT gun somewhere to the left of the map. So my plan was to 'roll up' the right hand side of the map as I knew pretty much all AT had been disposed of there ...so I moved my tanks up slightly ahead of infantry and they mowed down pretty much any infantry resistance. This way I managed to push up to the Abbey and take control with infantry support. Then from the right side of the Abbey sweeping round behind it with tanks and infantry managed to destroy mortar teams there as I suspected and worked my way around ...there I identified the 'rogue' AT gun that killed my scout car. Disposed of that AT gun then made a dash for the 'green zone' on the road. I encountered plenty of infantry and a few with zooks .... lost one tank ...but managed through a combined push to pretty much eradicate all resistance. In effect I 'softened up' the right side ... and concentrated my forces to push in that direction and then once the Abbey was taken sweep down to the the road.
  4. I used the ATi one and it works a treat .... looks better and runs nice and smooth :-) .... thanks for the help :-)
  5. Have to say personally I thought it was a very poor and unfair review. The game is superb and I applaud what Steiner 14 said earlier in the topic. I do however think a zoom to cursor would be of great benefit and also a way of playing the tutorials without the manual for us that download the game etc as well as a few other little things but that doesnt take the shine away from a simply majestic game. The reviewer is clearly not a reviewer as he doesn't for me give an objective and honest appraisal of the game .... not to mention his tactics were shocking!!!! Sending tanks along a road that hasnt been scouted or established as safe from AT attack. Says it all :-)
  6. Good to hear Cpl Steiner ....on the second map I am stranded about halfway up and struggling to 'break out'. I have enemy infantry dug in on my left flank and am being hit hard by isolated units that have pulled back after artillery barrage. One tough map and with it being a totally uphill battle the AI has a severe advantage as they have good LOS etc. No matter what terrain features I use ultimately at some point you have to make a move in open ground and thats when the carnage starts :-) ..... if you come up with a plan let me know hahahaha ...I think i'll be on this map for a while :-)
  7. Hey Cpl steiner How I got passed it was using my spotter. I sent a jeep at the beginning up the road at the start of the scenario to draw fire which the AT gun in the forest does. I then move my spotter in slowly to get a LOS on the AT gun ... then barrage it. Following this I then move my spotter back and up the hill about halfway and rest him. Then I use one of my tanks to go near the top of the hill and begin clearing infantry ... eventually the other AT gun will fire revealing its position. At that point I use my spotter to crawl into a position to get a LOS on the AT gun ... and barrage it. I then lay down barrages on the 'green' areas that have not been taken and then move my remaining tanks up the hill then push with them and infantry along the the ridge 'rolling up' any remaining infantry. Be aware of the 232 as it will show and then you can deal with that. That in a nutshell is how I did it. My spotter was crucial to removing the AT threat and as for being mortared and barraged I made sure my men were well spread out. I only used about one-third of the force I had to complete the mission as I wanted to rid the map of AT and then use my armour to 'roll' the infantry up. However wait until you get to the second map ... holy heck ...i'm severely struggling with that !!!
  8. Thanks Womble mate .... thats cleared that up for me ... appreciate it :-)
  9. Thanks beatmasta :-) ..... and again sounding like a total noob how do I achieve that? Do I move the battalion HQ closer to company HQ to improve their comms? Thanks again :-)
  10. Hey guys, I have been playing CM for many years now but am still useless hehehehe .... but simply love the games. But I should point out I am no tactical genius .... but I try hehehehe Anyway my question is this ..... when I send a spotter to spot a target I am conscious of the fact that I need to keep all levels of command and control connected .... the green lights on his chain of command settings. How then do I restore full command and control if he is out of touch with one of the layers. For example it may have a green light at Platoon and Company level but a red cross at Battalion level. I just cant seem to work out how to keep the lights 'all green' to get better accuracy when I call in artillery and mortar strikes? Sorry for the long-winded explanation .... but I hope it makes sense :-) Thanks in advance fella's :-)
  11. The new game engine is superb and looking forward to the upgrade to engine2.0 for CMN etc ..... looks great, seems to play great too although I havent went deep into the game yet .... but so far looks brilliant :-) .... just need more campaigns designed by the MOD community :-)
  12. Hi guys, I am new to this forum and have a bit of a problem. Whilst playing the 'Courage and Fortitude' campaign I cant seem to get my tanks to the other side of the bridge I use my Pioneers to blow the obstacles on my side of the bridge and then when I try to get them to go over the bridge to the enemy held side they wont go any farther than halfway across the bridge and stop. No doubt this has been addressed before but any help would be greatly appreciated ... many thanks :-)
