  1. starting at the setup area head into the forest clearing that overlooks the valley the russians move trough. I got a GREAT hull down position. I
  2. I found the pair of Stryker MGS´s rather effective, the two of them accounted for about 100 russian casualties and numerous vehicles (including T-90's). The TOW Strykers where less usefull but at least managed to take out a couple of russian tanks before taking fire.
  3. A squad of russians, sans RPG 7 or 22 took out an Abrams in one of my PBEM games. I liked that.
  4. In a number of games (PBEM and offline) Javelins wreck total havoc on opposing forces, harder to spot than an M1A2 Deathstar but just as lethal to anything on tracks, wheels or hidden in a building. What russian ATGM is the best match to the javelin in terms of killing power, mobility and probably spotting ability (i guess the javelin launcher optics also make a difference)
  5. First one i played after i started the game. Wonderfull map and great balance. I was kind of surprised about the russian RPG's firing from inside buildings, didn't expect that but i managed to pull trough. The 3 BMP's came in hard and almost got me in overtime. Should be a fun PBEM candidate.
  6. The Brits and Americans at this point in the war where constantly on the offensive.
  7. In the myth of invincibility scenarion German AT guns should be able to wreck havoc on Soviet armour. One of my 75mm AT guns took out 4 or 5 tanks from a relatively open position (right side of the map, shrubbery besides the woods). Ended up having to abandon the gun because ammunition ran out. Combat range should have been around 900-1000meters
  8. At mines would surely be a big advantage in a defensive battle. On the attack or in a meeting engagement that isn't an option.
  9. As i am about to enter a couple of street fighting games (No Ryu or M. Bison here but Zangief might just be a Russian private) i was thinking about what i should do differently in my force selection. As i am playing the Soviets i know my troops have next to zero AT capabilities, armour is likely to guard long streets and lanes and getting the beat in tigers and panthers head on is unlikely. To what an extent should i use sniper squads, extra MG teams and AT (rifle) teams? Do the soviet SMG companies pay off or are the normal rifle squads just fine, they already have a high amount of SMG's. Finally, is it wise to use tank destroyers and assault guns in urban fighting? An SU-76 is dirt cheap and has above average spotting. In urban fighting it could just sit back and pound buildings.
  10. So one of my Soviet infantry platoons found a Wirbelwind today. As they where caught in the open they didn't live to tell about it. First burst, 20 WIA/ KIA! These things are insanely effective against infantry and a lot less fragile than the truck mounted flak guns. To what an extent where Wirbelwinds and other flakpanzers used against infantry targets during the war?
  11. If only i could send a 105 barrage onto that location... Arty loves allies
  12. Nullify their arty? I would open fire even if my recon squad (s) was danger close.I would lose just 3 men ;-)
  13. Cromwell = cruiser/ cavalry tank (should exploit the breaktrough made by the infantry and infantry tanks) Churchill = infantry support (should work with the infantry to force a breaktrough) But i guess this is beyond the scope of this game
