  1. In hindsight it would appear that something leafy and green might be the issue, but usually that sort of shenanigans gets me even more in the mood to play : )
  2. Want to start a PBEM game but sooooo lazy. Maybe I should finish the games I flaked out on with Aurelius or Nidan... but I'm sooo lazy. Soon my brothers in arms. Nidan... you're amazing for being able to always and quickly return your turns. Aurelius, the battle we had going was incredible. Hopefully I can get back into that CM groove and get back to tackling a turn or two after work. We'll see what happens. Maybe watching a replay from our game will get me back into it. Also... been hankering for a RT game of CMFB (Demo). Must fight "laziness".
  3. Thanks Mikey D and Buddy B for the info about the trees. As a matter of fact I plan on checking out the latest video posted in a different thread here, and I can always look through yours and the other AAR to check out the trees again. I'd love to see new fortifications in a module, if only for the fact that I can't imagine we'd be seeing much of them save for some France 1940 title or perhaps even an uber-Flak tower in one of the later Red Thunder modules. As for the "Serpent's Tail", I'd really like to see it on a few maps. I can imagine a campaign built around a slugfest at the West Wall could be done on a single map. At any rate, I can't imagine it would be too resource intensive/difficult to program and throw down some dragon's teeth, but what do I know?
  4. With the move towards Germany, I was wondering if there are any new terrain features being added in? I'm thinking denser, more varied trees to go with the new stream "terrain". I'm also interested in West Wall fortifications, including the walls of Dragon's Teeth and improved fortifications. Not holding my breath, but would like to be surprised.
  5. Excellent point. I guess I never really considered the implications a raging fire would have on relative spotting. Although I grant that spreading fire should be down on the list of priorities, I still want it. At least I can now understand where the issues lie.
  6. Didn't read your name; just kinda read through what I thought was another wishlist. Was about to write something witty like, "dream on" when I realized these were actual features. Rock on.
  7. The answer to the last question is of course, because why give any incentive to purchase the other (older) versions...? Why not charge us for the base game and the "upgrades" read: patches
  8. Half a year of nothingness and counting... But oh I can't wait until they start charging us for custom scenarios! Great Job BF! PS: Are we going to call the latest game CMx4 and have to pay to upgrade every other (carbon copy) version?
  9. **** Steve; way to pick sides. I figured even you'd be smart enough to read through this post and just realize its one great flame war. Speaking of which, work on getting fire into the game. Everyone else... have fun. But someone get Aurelius out of this conversation..... WE HAVE A PBEM GAME TO PLAY!!!! FLAME ON!
  10. This, right here, says it all. You need to keep everyone within C&C (&C&C)
  11. I've been guilty of backing waves of halftracks and other light vehicles right up to combat areas so as to deposit their cargo (usually AT-guns) a little quicker than otherwise. Jeeps and other small vehicles that allow anyone to drive can be used in fantastically silly ways.
  12. Has he ever addressed Stugs?... Steve that is. I thought I was in the Red Thunder area, so I laughed when I saw this thread. When I saw what was being described, the first thing I thought of was "hmm... why hasn't someone pointed him towards the other thread?" I guess I'll just add that link here if I get the time. http://community.battlefront.com/topic/118147-stug-iii-bug-commanders-opening-up-at-point-blank-range/ --- TLDR: A player (beta-tester? fanboi? some relative high-up) about-faces when he takes Stugs into combat, and affirms that they are "broken" for the time being. --- Well anyways, I know this is anecdotal, but the last 5 different people I've played, no one's bought a STUG. It wasn't until I read the post that I realized that must be the reason no one buys them. Perhaps you are running into the same issue with the HumVees.
  13. Oh and Luke the trees are abstracted. Not sure exactly how, but they are abstracted.
  14. Big flame at Squatting dog. Basically, you're an idiot if you can't connect the dots and see that apparently Sburke and I have the last name. Because Burke, aside from a coarse verb to strangle someone, is a last name. You dolt. BTW, why did you put my user name in quotations? The name on my birth certificate is not Fry. You don't need to put quotation marks around my nickname, you waste. Good night, and be happy I pared this down for us all.
  15. On second viewing... even if you are playing the AI, I've seen videos like this. I call it working as intended. If you try this against a human opponent, you'll get... humbled. I'm not trying to call you out, but if this thread goes on much longer, I'll upload a turn where I knock out about 6 tanks (at least) in one turn because I had immobile tanks firing at moving targets. Sure, it took them about 10-20 seconds to spot their targets (seems reasonable to me) from 1000 meters or so away, but once they had their targets, it was the Marinaras Turkey Shoot. My point is, don't ruin your game playing like this. If you can't find an opponent... okay, play only the best missions. QBs against the AI are almost pointless. Spotting is so critical to this game, its important not to clutter threads like this with videos from the AI. It doesn't depict what this game is truly great at. In summation: Your problem is with the AI, trust me. EDIT: Please tell me you are playing against the AI. Only a Maniac would put an armored arc on a Tank Destroyer and then reverse it across a demolished battlefield in full view of an ISU-152. You are aware this game isn't using borg spotting, right?
  16. You are kidding me.... Damnit! I swear the first time I typed this I was concise and pleasant. Things I see. Things that are happening. Things you might be missing: 1) you're playing the AI. They suck. That's not an insult, that's just a fact. They do not play, anticipate, react like a real player. 2) The ISU-152 was in the Hetzers field of vision for... what, 4 seconds? What was he looking at? I don't know... there's a smashed house directly in front of him, maybe the crew is on edge, worried that a team of sappers might come out and make a run with demo charges. There's a load of automatic fire coming across his field of vision down a road. Is that suppresive fire? Who's firing? Does he know whats in front of him. I am assuming you are playing the AI, the robotic actions of the Panzershrek team seemed to confirm it for me, I stopped watching shortly thereafter. I'll finish it up after I finish this. 3) The Panzershrek team is facing into the hedgerow. You're using the arrow markers... can't remember the creator but I love them! You can see hes facing towards the hedge, with an inclination towards the field. Sure, by all means he should hear the tank... there's your [indirect] spotting in action. (its hard to notice in real time, but when spotting contacts start popping up out of nowhere a field over from a scout team, its safe to say they'e heard a tank rolling by. The new patch allows you to shut off your engines via the hide button to keep your armored reserves hidden.) By the time the Panzershrek (the AI) reacts to whats going on, the Tac AI is basically saying ok I'm under orders to stare forward, with no LOS, into this hedge. Wait.. is that a tank I hear? Perhaps... but I shall do nothing. Ohhh snap... it is a tank! (Boom... dead Panzershrek... I'm assuming you got him, right?) 4) Use pauses in between moves. Again, I will not even entertain the idea of AI figuring this out. AI sucks. Period. Spotting, seems to be working just fine. Tac-AI works wonders if (aside from obvious things like C&C, Leadership, and Experience being in good shape) you know your pixeltruppen's limitations. Hit your enemy when you can see him, and he can't see you. Sound like an oxymoron? Spot an enemy team in a house with an HQ team, w/C&C to a Machine Gun team. Hit the house with the Machine Gun team. Ever notice how sometimes you can't see where tracers are coming from. almost as if they are appearing suddenly twenty feet away from you. If you don't know where the fire is coming from, you can't trace it back. If your men are pinned down to the floor, they aren't going to spot ANYTHING; THIS IS HOW YOU WIN BATTLES. 5) There was something valid here. It was so valid. You wouldn't even believe it. So much logic. 6) I'll do you a huge favor and teach you first hand the pros and cons of CMRT's spotting system myself. Hit me up at cjburke86@yahoo on dropbox, or PM me if you don't know how to setup a PBEM game. Lastly, and obviously, this has all been predicated on the belief that you are playing against the AI. If you are playing a human, maybe they need to get on the phone with Bill H. and talk tactics. This has been a message from your local Fry.
  17. A really good brain game, whatever you want to call it... for our purposes, a very good exercise for people is to watch people on youtube do a run through of your favorite game. I do it to figure out to solve puzzles (think Silent Hill, Resident Evil), check out upcoming games (!yea!), and generally muck around. For instance, I was watching someone do a run through of the latest Silent Hill game. The game itself is from a 1st person POV, like a First Person Shooter without the gun. And you solve puzzles... think MIST (for you older folk : ) I read the comments at the bottom, and all people could do (hey, its youtube) was yell at the guy for missing this clue, that puzzle, this door, this that this that. It got me thinking about how I play video games. Silent Hill, my example, is crap your pants scary; I don't own the game, I don't want to own the game, but if I was playing I can guarantee you I'd miss everything. I'm easily distracted with games like that, and its hard to see when you have your hands covering your eyes. (I won't post a link, but check out Silent Hill P.T. on youtube to see what I mean.) Well what does this long and rambling response have to do with anything? 1) I miss "secrets" and all that stuff in games all the time. Sometimes I'm just paying attention to the action. It is a fact that I miss a great lot of what goes on during my WEGO CMRT games. I can rewind it to my hearts content. I still miss stuff. 2) Yesterday's trial with the game proved that under duress, I cannot focus. I think the same can be said about anything. Anyone. Your tank commander is, under combat, clearly under stress. In otherwords, people miss things when they are stressed. People miss things when they aren't. People miss things in general. I can't believe I'm even going to post this.
  18. I don't know if this is the right spot for it, but I'm currently looking for the owner of about 11 flaming wrecks that I recently found on The Passage. The majority appear to have been PzIVs, but I think I was able to make out the smoldering remains of a Stummel. If you can't remember where you left them, I'll try and jog your memory. About a week ago was the last time I saw them moving. I think most of them were brewed up about four minutes after they were first noticed by my scouts. Oh speaking of my scouts, they're waiting at the objective point... So in the meantime, I'm currently sitting on the turret of my T-34, watching your men frozen in terror. My scouts have broken radio silence again... I think they're singing "99 German Panzers on the Passage, 99 German Panzers, shoot one down, smash it around, 98 Panzers Panzers on the Passage." (PS: I tried interrogating one of your prisoners, but all I could make out was Tak- something? Does that ring a bell to you; anyone?)
  19. I've something that reminds me of the first Airborne mission from CMBN (I believe it came from the repository.) I think I am being too ambitious... I keep trying to come up with something that has AI plans for both sides. As it stands, I think I have something workable... PanzerMike is right, more scenario editors seem to be entering the fray. And by doing so, people like you, Seinfeld and PanzerMike, inspire people like me to make new missions. Crappy missions, but missions nonetheless.
  20. Player could play with the understanding that he is not to move the men until a certain time, or activate them at all if he wants (ala Sid Meier's Gettysburg & Antietam) which could give you a house advantage in points. Just different idea for fudging around for things.
  21. I really like this idea. Really really like this idea. +2 in your book.
  22. Why are you putting up pictures of dead babies, phallic objects and other perverse things? Ohhh wait, I miss my appointment this month.
