  1. I'am facing the same dilema. Think I go with CMFI an get Normandy after they realese Marget Garden module. Maybe there will be some sweet deal for the whole package along with Commonwealth. CM is not a chip game so I need to plan my shopping.
  2. I strongly advise to watch this tutorial about defending. Really good stuff:
  3. ToW is in fact an arcade game with a whole lot of micromanagement. It tries to be a a realistic game (ballistic and armor modelling, different type of ammo, big maps) but it fails miserably in form of gameplay. Every mission is scripted as hell, enemy is attacking from everywhere (during brefings You get very little info on the situation so You just have to guess what's going to happen). Make one mistake in positioning Your troops and in 9/10 situations You'll have to load the mission again. Zero fun. I can't understand why the spend so much time in trying to model so many great things according to reality and then they put all of this in a Starcraft and C&C like missions. Sure, the graphics look great, effects are top notch but the gameplay sucks. After several attempts on ToW2 Africa I finally gave up. So like Sergei said, there is nothing to compare if You are looking for a solid wargame.
  4. Like You said, the MG's need to be deployed first and they need to have a LOF to the target. In CMBN You won't see MG's positioned on the sand bags or edges of trenches, stone walls etc. but that's not an issue. It looks like they are positioned behind this obstacle but they actually can fire and see what's in front of them. Be sure to check if they have a LOF to that specific target. I never had a problem with that and my MG's are shooting at everything they see:) When using the "hunt" command, the unit will stop when they see an enemy (any enemy and even if the enemy is far, far away and is not a threat). I belive the unit will also stop if fired upon even if they can't see who fired at them. I don't use that command a lot. I find it more annoying than useful. There is no "move to contact" command like it was in CMx1. You need to work around that with what You have. The tank AI chooses the biggest threat. So even if You target something, it might switch to something else after the first shot (I might be wrong but I think the first shot will always be taken at the target that You ordered. After that the AI may choose sth different to attack). Usually it does a good job in my opinion. BR and have fun!
  5. I belive it's definitly not random. Small arms fire tend to wound more often rather than kill in instant. Artillery on the other hand slaughters soldiers if it hits close enough. I must say it's a dramatic sight when one man helps the other and everything blows up around and bullets flying. Usually the helper gets killed too. Very intense.
  6. You managed to capture the essence of the game. Good work!
  7. Like everyone said, keep an open mind and I thing You love the game. It's different but equally great IMHO. I still like to play CMx1 and I don't think I'll quit it any time soon. Brings back old memories, has its own, uniqe style:) Actually my problem is that I like alot of wargames and I sometimes would like to play them all at once. CMx1, CMSF, CMBN, CC, HTTR, Harpoon and much more. Each of them are great, each deliver something different but the gameply is always a pure fun for me. So much to do and so little time;)
  8. I salute You Sergei! Top notch work!
  9. I got mine yesterday - Warsaw, Poland. Did not have to pay any additional costs. Looks good on my shelf:) THX.
  10. Defenitely a WEGO player. It feels like I'am directing my own war movie which I can watch from different angles. Besides I find WEGO more interesting because I have to think ahead and also try to predict my opponents moves. And I have to be more precise. If things work out fine, it's much more rewarding. RT is to much of a click-fest for me which I really hate. That's why I don't even play any RTS these days.
  11. Besides couple of post, I belive there is a lot of constructive criticism here. No WEGO i MP is a huge step back and Your camparison with SC can be a bad prophet. Something was changed (removed) and it might turn out to be a bad decision. Hopefully it will be added at some point in the future. I know BF wanted to make a game for more gamers than only CM1 fans but making shortcuts is not always the best idea. Anyhow, I support BF all the way and still waiting for my copy of the game:) Steve Thx for Your reply. Puts things in a better perspective:)
  12. c3K Thank You for the reply. I will look then for those threads. Meanwhile I will certainly enjoy the game:)
  13. Hello to all of You, I don't know if this issue was brought up earlier (I couldn't find it anywhere) but what happend to the detailed informations about units (like we had in CMx1 under "Enter" key)? I can understand why we did not have them in CMSF but now it is a bit strange... For me it was one of the gratest things in CMx1. Other than that, I love it. Demo is fantastic and I can't wait to get my hands on the full game. Well worth waiting!
