  1. Can you send me the link? Thanks for the responses guys!
  2. I notice that every American soldier wears sunglasses. Is this a bug, or is it meant to be?
  3. Yikes, Quite a lot of casualties in 3 months. Makes you wonder what a conventional war would have done in 85 if the Soviets decided to rush through Fulda.
  4. I'm not seeing a persistent core force during the campaign. My surviving units aren't carrying over and I'm on mission three.
  5. Hello, After reading the manual, it gives a brief overview of the conflict, and mentions a few times how both sides are shocked over such high losses. What are high losses in this conflict? Hundreds, thousands, tens of thousands, more? What about equipment losses? Dozens of tanks on each side, hundreds? This interests me, and helps me role play my commander if I knew more of the context in which I am fighting. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
  6. Just sent it in Elvis, I might have submitted my first ticket elsewhere, the layout was different. Thanks!
  7. It appears to be my Webroot realtime shield that's causing the issue. Such a shame, none of my other BF products have trouble with it. I'll have to disable it. Maybe this post will help others with webroot. Thanks!
  8. Ugh, Managed to download the file. It downloads under "files.zip". When it's finished, I open it, it has several brz and bin files in it, as well as the CMBS_Setup I extract all the contents to a new folder, and run CMBS_Setup. When it's finished, an Activate modules icon appears, and a CM black sea icon appear. BOTH give me errors when I click them. The Application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000018). Click OK to close application. I'm able to run all other Combat Mission games. Win7 64 Bit Intel 4930K @ 4.4Ghz Nvidia 980 GTX 16 Gig ram Blah blah Any ideas??
  9. Hello, I accidently bought the Mac version of Black Sea when I have Windows 7 64 bit. I immediately caught it, and purchased the PC version too. I politely requested they refund the Mac version, don't ship it, and remove it from my account since I caught it within 5 minutes of the transaction. Is this something they will do? Or am I screwed? Thanks!
  10. Okay, so to reiterate, I do absolutely nothing. No using observers, no pre start area targets? The planes attack where they want, what they want, and when they want without me doing absolutely anything.
  11. Same. I've had near 500 soviets on screen, and I can hear my stukas flying around somewhere every once and awhile, but no strike.
  12. Hello, I can call arty/motar strikes very easily with a forward observer. But not an air strike? There's always a red X going through it saying en-route no matter how much time passes.
  13. Don't get me wrong, I'm enjoying the base game. But I always want more missions, professional maps to use in quick battle, and shiny new units. Any word?
  14. I really don't know the exact size. But I'm assuming 3200 if 2200 were casualties, and 1000 were "ok". I'm not sure if that how it works, or if there are other values.
  15. I played my first real quick time battle today. When I say first, I mean where I'm actually attempting a real scenario besides testing things. I played there map where there was two victory points. East town, and west town. It was considered large. I had a force of a few hundred rag tag German soldiers, complimented with one king tiger, some MG42s, and a few motars. Since this was really my first QT battle, I wasn't sure how many attackers I was facing, especially when I had the attacker modifier up, and pressed suggested. I just made sure it was infantry attacking only. Little did I know it was going to be a two hours slaughterfest. I had every single building fortified, and every road spotted for MG fire. I didn't do anything "gamey" like camp weapons or mortar their spawn. The soviets arrived in a trickle, then an avalanche. In the first 20 minutes, half the town they were attacking was literally demolished by mortars. So many were falling it was absurd. Wave after wave attacked, there firepower on my fortified houses were insane. Each house much have been littered by hundred and hundred of SMG and rifle bullets. I moved up my king tiger. He fired, and fired, until his ammo was completely empty. I finally had to retreat him to my HQ behind some hedgerows. Quickly after the enemy was on top of my last remnants of the main town where my HQ was. I sent my tiger over the hedgerow hoping to run over enemy infantry (is this possible)? As soon as he went over, there was probably near 75-100 soviets directly below him tossing grenades. He was knocked out, the escaping crew was machined gunned by hundreds of rounds. The Tiger ended up with an astounding 654 kills. I assume the crew was awarded with medals posthumously. Quickly after they conquered the town they went for their second objective, another town beyond some woods. This was defended by a much smaller force, but nonetheless fought fiercely. I had MGs firing right into the forest where the horde was coming from. Sooner or later their numbers overwhelmed me, and they starting clearing some buildings on the towns outskirts. All seemed loss. Battle over. DRAW. Two hours went by. I like to imagine reinforcements arrived at the two hour mark to relieve my force, that's why the battle ended I ended up inflicting over 2,200 enemy casualties. Leaving over 1000 "ok" Soviets. I lost two hundred or so, and 85 survived. Anyone else have epic tales?
  16. Thanks for the suggestions. Basically I'll waste as much as ammo as I'm able to spare, suppressing possible Soviet positions, or bypass them altogether if possible.
  17. Hello, I can blow away tanks like nobody's business, but get slaughtered and frustrated when having to clear forested areas, much more so than when I had too in fortress Italy or Normandy. Just tonight for example, I had a small forested area surrounded with tanks and APCs. They pummeled several soldiers with their HE rounds and MG fire that they luckily managed to see. I sent two fresh squads, maybe 8-10 soldiers each, into the forest on "hunt" mode. I figured it would be an easy mop up. Nine seconds of weapon fire later, both squads are killed with hardly firing a shot, and not inflicting a single casualty. I raged quit, and viewed the map. Low and behold, all the havoc was created by three battered surviving Soviet sub machine gunners. Not light MGs mind you, but there standard sub machine gunners. What's the trick? Sure, I understand mortaring or shelling a forested area first is ideal, but not always possible, especially when playing as the Germans. Any pointers would be appreciated. *please note I play in real time.
  18. Thanks for the help guys. I misunderstood what that command meant.
  19. Hello, I've played Red Thunder for a few hours now, and love destroying swaths of Soviet armor with AT guns. But I have a couple basic questions. 1. How do I prevent my ATGs and MBTs from firing on infantry, which wastes precious ammo and reveals there position to enemy armor? I want them to remain silent, and wait for enemy armor to approach. Instead they open fire on Soviet scouting teams 1000 meters away. 2. What does "spalling armor" mean? Sometimes this message appears when I hit a tank an AT round. 3. Can mortars destroy tanks? As the Germans I get lots of mortar support, which seems to do nothing to tanks.
  20. I've played many, many war games, so the concepts blend in quite quickly.
  21. Thanks for the responses. I'm understanding better now how the AI works and why sometimes they send large formations to areas where they are not needed and camp. I also now understand how assault command actually works. Keep in mind I never read the manual... Thanks again!
  22. Hello, I've been curious how the actual AI works in Combat Mission. Does it react to my moves? Is it dynamic? Or do they just follow a preprogrammed route that they don't stray from no matter what I do, or which direction I go. I've noticed some oddities, where they will have a large force camped out in a forest, while they send weak units piecemeal to my guns. The time runs out, and this huge force is still camping in the forest on the other side of the map that's not an objective. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy CM very much, but I'm used to a seemingly much more robust and challenging AI from Achtung Panzer Operation Star.
  23. Thanks alot guys! Those pictures really helped! I now can do what I intended to do!!
  24. Strange, I click Heavy Panzer group, or something like it, and it costs near 20,000 points!! Hmm, maybe a corrupt installation?
