  1. If you like to share some information or even work (although I'm not that interested in H2H), I myself am working on something similar. I have a single player campaign in mind featuring the actions of 2nd Panzer Division. I have already finished 2 maps, one of St. Barthélemy just north of Mortain and one of Bois du Parc, where a small road block of A Company/ 117th IR was. Unfortunately, historical sources on the German side in this battle (or actually, in general) are pretty few, especially on non-SS troops. But I recently bought "Victory at Mortain" by Mark J. Reardon and hope to find somethin in there.
  2. So... anyone with an actual answer?
  3. The AT mine thing is no bug appearently. I've asked this myself a couple of times but no one could tell me how to make minefields traversable for vehicles.
  4. Hi guys, could anyone explain to me the logic behind those Bocage corners? Why is it that you sometimes can place troops in them and sometimes not? I thought it had somethin to do with the size of the teams, but I tried with a PzSchreck team and could place them in one corner, while I couldn't in another one.
  5. Are the turret numbers always the same or did you actually find a way to make them consecutive?
  6. hm, I found that easy, too. Since the "Germans" are so easily routed they don't offer much resistance. Its harder in the full game, though, If I remember correctly
  7. Which of the scenarios could be considered hard in the game? I haven't played all too many so far, I just have heard that many of the campaign missions are pretty hard. "Le Desert" took me a few tries until I did it right, cause once you realize how much support fire and time you have, it becomes pretty easy actually.
  8. Depending on the scenario, the ending time can be variable, up to 15 extra minutes I believe. I you have fulfilled all your objectives, or believe so at least you can hit the Cease fire button.
  9. You can only check LOS if the bunker is crewed. BTW, don't know if it's bug or meant to be like that, but when you put a HMG team in a Shelter type bunker the MG won't fire, not even in LMG configuration. At least for MG42.
  10. I just checked with 1.01 and the issue still seems to remain. Also with infantry, but it appears that the lower the silhouette the better the LOS is. I checked trees A and C on gravel road with one tree every two tiles of the road. LOS also improves if tree density is further reduced.
  11. Are we talking about bogging or real immoblization that doesn't go away? Cause this seems to happen kinda often. I just had 2 tanks becoming immobilized (a Panther and a Pz IV) without being damaged after a few minutes into the game.
  12. I assume due to lack of officers more and more tasks had to be carried out by NCOs. In some Panzergrenadier platoons you will even have NCOs as 1st Platoon CO.
  13. Ok, thanks for the reply! I should have known that BF takes that kind of stuff rather seriously
  14. Hi everyone, I saw that, in the editor, the German Panzer Bataillon in full strength contains a so called "Support Company". Since I head never heard of that before and had never heard that Panzer battalions had an integral recce force (the company contains to recon platoons, both armoured, one pioneer) I did some research. I came across a "Versorgungskompanie" in the official TOE, a term that rather translates to "Supply company". That definately doesn't sound like a fighting or recon unit. And supply units are not modelled in CMBN anyway. So I looked into Eric Lefèvre's "Panzers in Normandy" which has some nice visual tables of German Panzer Regiment organization. Interestingly, he also translates Versorgungskompanie to "Support company", but it contains, as the name implies, lots of supply trucks, medical stuff, maintenance etc. The units, that are in the CMBN Support company pretty closely match some of the units in the batallion staff company: It has signals and recon platoon (no signals in CMBN I guess), although that one has 8 tanks (PzIV or Panther) on its own, while CMBN one has none. It also has a Pioneer platoon which exactly matches the one from the "Support company" and an AA platoon, which is not in CMBN since there are no AA guns. Now I don't if maybe in the field things were different than in the TOE (well they probably were) or what the CMBN TOEs try to model exactly. Maybe 8 tanks were simply forgotten, again I don't know. But it seems that at least the Support company should be renamed, either to satisfy my geekiness or to avoid further confusion
  15. Can someone PLEASE explain me how? Infantry is no problem, but vehicles set off every single (marked!) mine.
  16. Definately seems that way! Especially on the move, tanks are now pretty unaccurate. I had a Sherman miss it's target on 300m, in 1.00 I think it would have hit.
  17. Yeah, how do you do it? is it maybe not possible at all? Are you supposed to drive around mines with vehicles? When my engineers spot mines, now with 1.01 both AT and AP mines, I let them mark them and then try to drive with my vehicles over (on slow) and what happens is that they always blow some mines up anyway. For infantry marked minespots seem relatively safe, but not for vehicles. Is there any way to actually clear mines? Like with blast as in Cmx1?
  18. Wow! this is like the best website ever! much better than that other one
  19. How about you give me the patch and I check for you if the problem's still there
  20. I sure hope I did not Honestly, this is really a minor issue. I mean how many maps have trees on roads? I just thought I had found a way to make some super-duper bocage road. If it turns out that there is something to fix, it can wait till the next patch
  21. And I've noticed another thing: LOS past a single tree on the road is possible, but as soon as another tree is added - the distance to the first one doesn't matter here, it could be 1 km away - the LOS is blocked. Edit: Okay, some furher testing brings to me the conclusion that the tree type does have some influence on the matter. Trees B & E (The very high ones) don't obstruct LOS at all. Tree A does obstruct it heavily (the 1km-away-thingee), I also tried it with a Kübelwagen (lower profile than the StuH), it also didn't have LOS Trees C and D also obstruct LOS but not as bad as Tree A, I have no idea why, since Tree D is actually lower than Tree A.
  22. Well its Tree Model A which is the Most Common One in the Game.
  23. Something odd I noticed recently. I opened an original CMBN map (Pleasantly Shaded Woodland) which features a sunken lane with trees placed both ON the street and next to street in the editor. The game is smart enough though to not place them on the road in 3D mode but left or right next to it. Strangely though, vehicles do not have LOS "through" those trees. The effect is that vehicles can't spot each other despite having unobstructed view and even on shortest ranges. With infantry the problem doesn't really exist I've noticed.
  24. I thought the 116th didn't participate in the Mortain counterattack? Wasn't it busy defending itself? Anyways any German campaign is welcome. I myself was thinking about a campaign on 2nd Pz in the Mortain counterattack, but couldn't find enough information/interesting battles in CMBN terms Now I'm somehow planning to convert the Company of Heroes Panzerelite campaign for the Market Garden module Btw. I would offer to do testing for your campaign and others, too.
  25. No it is not. Purchase a Panzer Bataillon and then choose between Panther and Panzer IV in the menue at the bottom. Or set the equipment quality rather low.
