  1. To clarify you can already target a specific floor of a building. The issue with area fire on buildings is that you still need to be able to see the centre of the action square to do it. This makes it very hard to shoot up the front of a building down the street that you men can plainly see just fine but because the neighbouring building is blocking your LOS to the centre of the action square you cannot fire on the front of the building. Fixing this may well rise to the effort of many features but it is not a new feature it would be fixing a design flaw.
  2. My bad. Your are quite correct I was focusing on the tank crew swapping part - that is denied. The re crewing AT guns was not denied but I am not holding my breath either because they have stated the priority is low for them. My memory tells me that the tank crew switching was pretty firmly denied - for the prevention of gamey stuff. The only real crew swapping that had much likely hood to happen in a CM battle would be an unhorsed HQ crew kicking some lower ranked crew out of a tank to regain command of the force. I compensate for that by getting my HQ crew into a radio equipped HT or jeep. That puts them back in command and as long as you keep them safely back it works quite well.
  3. @noob, Is the fact that we are talking about our operational orders, an indication that there was no CM battle to be fought resulting from the Allies turn?
  4. Please, make him second. I really don't think I am up for the turn rate at the moment.
  5. I have been thinking a bit and have a few ideas for what we should do. I would like to put together a draft set of orders we can then discuss a bit. The trouble is I will likely not be able to do that until tomorrow morning. So in case someone beats me to it here are my thoughts. We should use our 150mm batteries to impede the most threatening force (either the stack at E7 or F8). We should keep our 105 battery for use during a CM battle. We should concentrate our 120 mortars at a target they can all reach (no idea if that is actually possible - just thinking our loud without figuring out those details at the moment). Use the 88s to shoot at whatever tanks we can - favouring the targeting of those closest to the VLs Move to reinforce the upper VL - not sure if we can reach it or not. Including some tanks. Reinforce the lower VL. We have four roughly equal forces of tanks that are separated from our infantry. I do not think that is good. However we also need to prevent our forces from being split in two. Occupying G13 should give us enough of a zone of control to prevent splitting - a least without a fight. I propose we move some tank units there forthwith and pull some infantry out of the right most town to join them.
  6. Welcome aboard. I strongly suspect that I cannot keep up with the turn rate that noob wants to see - RL projects are making me in consistent with my turns at the moment. So, you will be higher on the list than you might think.
  7. These have come up before. If you search around you can often find multiple threads. I recommend searching using google and their "site:" keyword. For example Crazy lone Google search url The following is a summary from my memory: Tank riding is widely expected to be in the eastern front game as are flames and flame throwers. There are plans for a pack of extra vehicles for CMBN - it seems like that will arrive after flames have been added to the game and back ported to CMBN. Nothing official but we know there is a pack planned for CMBN. Yeah, not going to happen. This has been talked about before and one word sums it up - Denied. Yep, same. Captured weapons were used in WWII but it was *not* normal for that to happen "on the fly" during combat. So, don't expect to see that added to the game.
  8. OK, I was giving you a hard time because I was picturing you as the Red Army officer forcing his men through the minefield Then the answer is what @Michael Emrys said.
  9. There is no safe way to cross a mine field. Yes, slow sets off fewer - or at least at a slower rate Hell no. The best way to deal with a mine field is to stay the hell out of it. Discussing running vs walking through a mine field sounds like a topic that only someone with no real legs and arms to loose would bring up.
  10. I know nothing about the Russian weapons but, I strongly suspect that they can. Yes, the US cruise missiles can carry nuclear warheads (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SSM-N-9_Regulus_II)
  11. Gee thanks:) The ironic thing was it was his own Achilles that saved me. I was already to go and move out when on of his TDs KO'ed a Royal Tiger that was scouting the access point. That caused me to pause and setup an artillery call to deal with those TDs. After a few minutes the big stuff started raining in. If he had just kept his TDs out of site for a few more minutes I would have been right under the barrage. Oh now that does suck.
  12. Oh, man I forgot about this scenario. I had it on my list to play and ended up forgetting about it. Is this balanced for H2H play?
  13. And for anyone else reading thread http://cmmods.greenasjade.net/mods/4642/details
  14. As you can see there are no easy answers here The way BFC is working, each new module also patches the base game and those patches include fixes and minor features (said patches are also made available to the base game for those that did not buy the module). When they release a new game the engine often gets upgrade with new features as well. The net effect is they are doing little leap frog jumps. We expect the same as things go forward (although you can see how this will get complex once they add the eastern front and the modern game, and add modules to them...). It remains to be seen what decisions they make about keeping everyone of their games in sync. They have stated that they intend to and I hope they do pull it off. They are back porting fixes as things come out. A couple of examples of this leap frogging. Once the CMBN 2.01 patch came out with the MG behviour tweaks, the MGs in CMBN behaved differently from CMFI. Then Gustav Line came out and the patch for CMFI included the MG changes. Now the behave the same. But they added the movie mode which has yet to make it into CMBN but we all expect it to. These are just two known examples but there are many many more and some fixes are not even called out. In terms of playability and the look and feel you will be right at home in both games. There will likely be a few small things that are not completely the same - and you might not even notice them. Honestly, though have no fear you will have no trouble playing both games.
  15. Indeed it is. I hope your luck holds. Because if that crew recovers their composure heaven help those MG crews....
  16. @Strachwitz, given what @noob has clarified about the use of artillery, here is how I propose we use our artillery assets: The 12 guns of 150 we use operationally to attempt to disrupt the enemy. I find calling 150 artillery in a CM game difficult - FOs take 15min to make the call. Calling the 105 and 120 in a CM game is much easier. That means we have two batteries of 105 we can allocate to any CM battle. Plus the 120 that are in the stack for the infantry. I do have a question about those 120mm mortars. When the infantry formation they are stacked with attacks can we opt to leave the 120mm mortars behind and use them as off map assets? Actually come to think of it I have never seen 120mm mortars on board so perhaps my question is moot. Also can the 120mm mortars from one stack be made available in a CM battle involving another stack and hex?
  17. Oh, that is not what I expected. I suppose it makes sense given the level of the game. So, operationally we have three independent artillery units. Thank you appreciated.
  18. Under stood. I see from the updated image that we have 7 batteries which give us some flexibility. Thank you. Now I can see the real problem - it does not say what kind of artillery it its. I was able to recognize the picture for all the other units but not the artillery. So, what kind of guns are the towed arty? And the mortars? I suppose I should check that the AT guns are 75mm as well (I can recognize the 88s for sure).
  19. No, no go for it. I think it is great. I did not mean to give the impression of being impatient - just wanted to start the discussion. I am cool if you want to fight all the CM battles - even (but I'll do my bit if you don't want to). I did not think there would be so few of us either - but hey it should be fun.
  20. As the guy fighting the battle you are in full command. I would like to ask you let us know generally how things are going. Nothing to crazy like the AARs posted here. But when things get going. What you start to see and how things are going from time to time.
  21. Can I ask that you drop a note in here when such a battle is set? Just so those of us not actually fighting are aware. Please.
