  1. Looking forward to it. I get a lot of enjoyment out of CMSF and CMA.
  2. Nice to know the CM titles are not affected by the upgrade (for the most part, anyway), but how many of you experienced issues with other games or programs?
  3. Anyone know where I can get Ryujin's HD mod? All the links in this thread seem to be broken/empty.
  4. Ended up buying it. Did a little brush up on my Soviet-Afghan history for perspective, and I'm having major fun with it. I was hooked after my second QB played out like a history lesson: Soviet mech force had to slog their way through a steep, narrow valley as the Muj hit them from the slopes. Mech advance slowed to a crawl after the first recon vehicle was lit up by an RPG ambush.
  5. If you're not up for the complete reads, try this summary instead: http://edocs.nps.edu/AR/org/CSRC/csrc_jan_02.pdf
  6. With the purchase of CMA this morning, I now own all the CMx2 games. I suppose it’s safe to say I’m becoming a CMx2 addict, as I usually have at least one battle raging at all times across the full spectrum of games. Worse yet, I fear I may have also spread the disease to my son, if the four or five PBEM conflicts he currently has ongoing is any indication. On a short road trip the other day we were discussing the myriad directions BF could take the current engine and we came up with the following, in no particular order: WWII North Africa: Afrika Korps, 8th Army, 7th AD, Free French, El Alamein, Tobruk, Gazala….a personal favorite of mine Fulda Gap: This is number one on my wish list. Fought this battle in my head a hundred times over as a kid growing up in the 60’s and 70’s. Lots of possibilities here. Think Sir John Hackett’s The Third World War. WWII Pacific Theater: Not really pining for this. Primarily an infantry slog in jungle terrain. I’d likely wear out my Alt and “T” keys. Vietnam: See above. Sino-Soviet Clash: Intrigues me. Not sure it’s ever been done in an electronic wargame. Wouldn’t have to deal with my personal quirk of never playing against the US. Arab-Israeli Wars: As something different, I’d be up for this one as well. Korea: Like Vietnam, I don’t think this war sells in the electronic gaming market. Falklands: Small, limited, dull (with apologies to anyone who took part). Desert Storm: Too one-sided. OEF and OIF: These are still too personal for me. Rather see updates to CMA and CMSF. I’m sure there are other possibilities out there, particularly in the hypothetical, but this is what we came up with off the top of our heads shortly after emerging from a CM induced coma.
  7. If you enjoyed that, try "The Bear Went Over the Mountain". It's a review of tactical operations from the Russian standpoint. Read it on a cross country flight. You can find it on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Bear-Went-over-Mountain-Afghanistan/dp/0788146653
  8. CMA is the only CM game I don't own and I'm thinking of picking it up. I understand some now find it difficult to play this early generation game, but I just recently returned to CMSF and I'm having a blast with it so I'm contemplating a buy of CMA. Maybe the only drawback is the scarcity of MODs in the Repository. Are there any other MOD venues for this game? Thanks in advance!
  9. Ok, I see the unlicensing option. I'll unlicense the two modules, one of which will apparently unlicense the base game. Then I'll uninstall the base game....wiping out all traces.....and reinstall the base and all three modules using my original order keys, while making certain to disable AVAST so I can license all without error. Sound right?
  10. There's an uninstall application, but no unlicense.
  11. I bought a bundle of three CMSF modules (Marines, British Forces, and NATO) and my Avast antivirus interfered with the Marines licensing. I've been advised to unlicense and relicense. The Marines module says there's a FAQ on Battlefront that explains unlicensing, but I haven't been able to find it. Anyone know the procedure? Sorry for posting in the Black Sea forum....thought I'd get a quicker response.
  12. First off, thanks for responding. This morning I was rooting around in the CMBN directory, came to the Quick Battle Maps folder and decided to view the map I was using for a quick battle I was cobbling together. I couldn't identify the .BTT extension with an internet search so I decided to use Microsoft Picture Viewer on the off chance it would display the map. Unfortunately, my poor attention to detail didn't take note of the Windows prompt asking if I wanted to associate this program with all such files and it flipped them all to this association, to include the .BTT's for CMBS, CMFI, and CMRT. I panicked, went back to the quick battle in CMBN and discovered the game had crashed. I assumed it was my meddling with the file association and made a further leap that I'd compromised the utilization of the files across all titles. I came home for lunch a few minutes ago to let the dogs out and tried to fire up the game on the off chance the wargame faeries would overlook my stupidity and show mercy. Voila, it worked! Tried the other titles and their quick battles worked as well. It dawned on me.....I'm apparently very slow on the uptake.....the game may have crashed because I had the quick battle running when I tried to access its .BTT file simultaneously outside the game. All my .BTT files are now erroneously associated, but it appears to have no effect on game play. Chalk up at least one instance when my stupidity did not bite me in the a$$. Sorry for the trouble, I'll slink back to my hole now.
  13. Posted in the tech forum and submitted a help ticket, but thought perhaps some computer savvy folks might be able to assist me on the quick. I inadvertently associated the .BTT files with Microsoft Picture Viewer and they're no longer functional. Does anyone know what file/program they should be "re-associated" with in order to make them functional again? Thanks in advance!
  14. My apologies, sir. I was indeed attempting to download the older version.
  15. It's not limited to Firefox. Neither Google Chrome or Internet Explorer grant me access to download the file. No worries, I have plenty of maps and scenarios to keep me busy for quite some time.
  16. Having the same problem as the previous poster. The access link contains no option to download. Any other means of accessing these maps?
  17. ....so I can play real time against my son, or do I have to purchase two copies?
  18. Thanks so very much for your response! I didn't phrase my question properly, however. The method described in the link reflects co-op within a human team vs. human team concept. I was referring to a two player human co-op team vs. the AI. Is this possible? I'd like to play this game in a co-op team mode with my son against the AI. Thanks again!
  19. Al Hufq in WEGO mode...roger. Thanks much!
  20. I'm an old school "dinosaur" new to CMSF and RT gameplay. I must say I'm amazed at the game and its depth but I'm bit overwhelmed by the speed and intricacy. Can someone point me to a small scale scenario I can cut my teeth on without overloading my fragile and rapidly diminishing mental capacity? Thanks in advance! Mark
