Jaeger Jonzo got a reaction from RockinHarry in CMBN British Campaign: For King and Country
@RockinHarry, thanks for that information, very useful, will give the pause a try and report back. A little poor of BFC to not have offered a remedy almost a year later when several have reported it.
The other bug issue I am having is some squads plain disappear from the battlefield !  The unit is presented as you scroll through but half a squad stays insitu and other half vanishes or appears at the movement objective.  Nothing seems to fix it once this has happened. I tried individual movement orders, company moves etc. you lose the whole platoon from your order of battle.

no patches yet, but some expedient might help getting over the worst from the behavior and keep playing:

Jaeger Jonzo got a reaction from Warts 'n' all in CMBN British Campaign: For King and Country
the more recent patches to cmbn seem to have borked this campaign somewhat. It affects the infantry the worst. If they come under fire behind a hedge or in cover they move to the forward exposed side and get massacred ! Likewise if they get panicked they run towards the guns instead of away.  I'm 3 or so battles in so really don't want to start again especially as Round 1 was huge and took me ages to get through. Im struggling to progress as my infantry casualties keep going up without fault of my own!   Is there a known fix for correcting these older campaigns to suit the V4 patches?

Jaeger Jonzo got a reaction from Warts 'n' all in is this the hedgrow bug v4????
ah, I've just mentioned this hedgerow bug affecting the King and Country campaign as thought the v4 patch had affected the campaign saved files somehow. Is anyone looking into fixing this problem? Makes a campaign hard to progress when your men keep deploying the wrong side of a hedge or wall and running towards the bullets!

Okay, I've finally finished this mod project...it's been going on in some form or another for years but the present vision was started last July or August, then I took a winter hiatus and being stuck at home has given me time to finally finish.
This mod started, as most of my mod work has, with my beloved CW troops.  I have nearly driven myself to madness in the past with my completionist obsession for modding the entire 21st Army Group but I deliberately avoided that problem this time by only focusing on the CW units actually represented in CMBN scenarios and campaigns.  I have modded the uniforms and vehicles for each CW unit that appears in CMBN (no small feat but better than my original obsession 😉), which led me to an exhaustive examination of all of the scenarios and campaigns I could find (reading notes, briefings and digging through the OOBs).  At this point, I decided that I wanted to make it easy to use the mod, so that meant looking into ModTags.  All of the unit graphics have had ModTags applied to them.
I identified 175 scenarios and 22 campaigns that would lend themselves to specific units being represented (CW, US & German); then, I extensively ModTagged all 175 of these scenarios.  For the 22 campaigns, since I couldn't add ModTags to the individual missions, I created campaign-specific mod .BRZ files, which will accomplish the same goal.  Along the way I have made a few changes to the CW armour models in a few of the scenarios and campaigns for greater unit historical accuracy but they are mostly unchanged by me.
Not being an SME on American or German vehicles/uniforms, I have personally ModTagged many of the community mods that I use and I have also included them in a couple of separate .BRZ files that can be used or not, depending on your preference (the beauty of this system is that if you prefer other mods, just tag them yourself using the ModTags I've added to the scenarios and you can get whatever mix you like).
Anyway, its all ready to go, I just need to put it up somewhere if people are interested.

    Darknight
PS - If any scenario or campaign authors would like a particular CW formation that I haven't included (because they don't appear in CMBN yet), then drop me a line and I should be able to easily provide it, and I can advise on the ModTag structure and layering too, if needed.

Jaeger Jonzo got a reaction from SimpleSimon in Why is surrendering still so poorly modelled
Why after so many cm modules and patches is surrendering units so poorly adopted  in game? Almost every unit seems to fight to the death no matter how much fire is poured onto them or hopeless the situation. Also I don’t get why there isn’t an option to voluntarily surrender a unit? It seems a huge faux pas for a battle simulator like the cm series.
it often affects the outcome of a fight when you have to commit so much resources and time smashing the hell out of a building or wood etc when you know that unless they are fanatical or extremely motivated troops, they would throw down their weapons than be annihilated to a man . It should definitely be an option that you can surrender a unit in a hopeless situation.
i thought it was written into the code that once a unit suffered x-amount of casualties or the force as a whole had lost x-amount of units/morale that units would surrender more readily?

There is a book written about the actual action from the paras side and another written by a German officer at the battery (may be the commander, can't remember). Am sure a grog will be along soon to give both book titles. I've got the para one, just can't remember it's title at moment, will look for it.
I've personally been to the battery position and have some photos of it if you need them but probably all available online anyway (Google images?). They do a re-enactment in one of the bunkers of a para assault on the bunker that was very life like and scared the cr*p out of my wife! It certainly had the shock factor.
