  1. Hi Al(l), Thanks for the new patch and improvements. However, I have a query. In the Barbarossa to Berlin extended campaign the German production queue is empty. Is this an intentional design chocie or an oversight?
  2. Hi Strategiclayabout, I suspect the chances of influences are cumulative as well but I am not 100% certain. As for who spends a chit when influence is gained from what I remember it's the country with the most invested irrespective of the potential allegiance of the minor affected. All this effort to make friends, at least with declaring war you know where you are!
  3. Hi, Resurrecting an old thread to ask a follow up question. What are the mechanics for calculating the chance(s) of success when multiple countries invest in diplomacy? If, for example, Germany invests 4 chits and Japan 3 chits in courting Spain is the chance of success cumulative? Or does each country get an individual roll to affect relations? I have tried this approach before and seen that when a diplomatic shift is effected it is the country with the most chits invested that spends a chit to precipitate this. So I guess it is a cumulative effect. However, I can't find a definitive answer in the manual so I would appreciate one from one of you noble Gurus! Regards.
  4. Hi, I've just purchased SC Pacific Theatre and was intending to do so at the download price of $35. However, at the checkout screen the price was confirmed as $25 for the download purchase only.
  5. Thanks for the reply Hubert. Having just purchased the game (a bit behind the times but what the hell!), I've played a couple of scenarios and Sealion can be unpredictable at the best of times. Anyway, thanks for an enjoyable game that manages to be more than the sum of its' parts. Even those few design choice quibbles, which I've seen noted in several reviews and tend to agree with (dare I mention hexes or certain naval aspects), detract little from an engaging title. The campaign design is simple yet intricate which provides high replayability.
  6. Is it possible to launch Operation Sealion after the commencement of Barbarossa, especially if the campaign is going well? I always seem to leave it too late after the fall of France. Consequently I tend to end up invading Britain in 1941 leaving the initiative on the Eastern front to the rapidly activating Red Army.
  7. Oh well, I suppose I'll save a lot of time by not going to the bathroom.
  8. So if I avoid the triggers my feeble blood vessels caused by passive smoking will be a ok?
  9. Costard, I'm not a crank, yet, but i'm certainly cranky after wargaming for a couple of decades!
  10. Costard, is the conclusion that it was beyond the capabilities of Hitler's Germany your own or Tooze's?
  11. Is it ultimately possible to determine the exact reasons for the German defeat in Russia? With such a magnitude of factors, frequently displaying unexpected results, can we ever hope to thoroughly appreciate their interactions?
  12. I am not entirely convinced that the Germans operated under such a narrow margin of victory on the Eastern Front. Yet rather than considering Napoleon perhaps the First World War can be more instructive in terms of comparative analysis. If the two front war was anathema to German strategic planning then during the First World War they coped with it more effectively than anticipated. Indeed, they managed to ultimately destabilise the Russian Empire and force it to conclude a separate peace. This in spite of their pre-war planning and expectations unravelling during the initial period of conflict. As such can we consider the Eastern Front during the Second World War, with such a massive range of variables to consider, as lost by the Germans due to their failue to conduct the perfect war?
