  1. A few oddities I noticed with availability of formations:

    - British Army has access to 2 battleships and heavy cruiser for artillery support from 7/43 through 12/43.  The Canadian Army has access to 2 battleships and 1 heavy cruiser from 12/43 through 2/45 (when the Canadians go away).  Is that correct?

    - Waffen SS Artillery, Air Support and Fortifications are available 7/43, 8/43, 11/43, 12/43 and 5/44 even though no formations from the Infantry and Armored Infantry are available.  No Waffen SS troops are available 1/45, 2/45, 3/45.  Shouldn't the earlier dates (7/43, 8/43, 11/43, 12/43, 5/44) be the same as 1/45, 2/45, 3/45; i.e. no available Waffen SS formations (Waffen SS grayed out)?

    - Canadian Army has two formations called "Support Group", sometimes available at the same time, but with different equipment/units.  Should each one be named different?

All these observations are in the editor.  (Not intending to nit pick, I think the work on the TO&E is excellent.  Just thought these seemed odd).

BF appears to have bug tested the  game into oblivion, but i'm still just going to start collecting things.

Gebirgjager infantry formation is missing in QBs (scouts an engineers are there for the gebirgs thou)
Stug (lastest) appears in the manual but not the game
StuH (lastest) also has same issue
Flammpanzer III has incorrect number of crew (at least from my readings)

Should the French Army in November 1943 have P-51Ds and P-47Ds? (this is in the editor) The US Army doesn't have those...looks like it continues into December 1943, January 1944, etc. until they leave in July 1944.

We're looking into it, but Ian is correct.  There are conditions in which the installer won't find your installation directory and instead winds up making its own directory.

James, to immediately fix your problem what you need to do is move the files from that errant sub directory and put the EXE in your CMFB folder (overwriting the one that is already there) and the BRZ into the Data folder.  That should do the trick, I think.

When I tried to install it, I had the same issue noted before.  I think what is happening is if you have the game installed somewhere else, it recreates the main folder.  For example, my game is installed in C:\Games\Combat Mission Final Blitzkrieg.  I pointed the installer to this directory and then I had the following after install:  C:\Games\Combat Mission Final Blitzkrieg\Combat Mission Final Blitzkrieg.  Just point it to C:\Games.

  4. Will this Big Mutha install set up the incoming/outgoing files just like RT and FI? Under the My Documents folder?

We're VERY aware of that. Ask us how we deal with this during beta testing! (No, don't, unless you like long sad stories).

So, we've come up with a new way to deal with this issue, and already have begun switching to it from 3.10 on. In fact, customers who purchased the Vehicle Pack disc (mail only or download&mail) are already benefitting, because they got a disc with the FULL family including ALL materials, so this protracted procedure isn't needed any more.

The same benefit will be extended to all download customers, too, and we'll be tackling the conversion this week after the forum migration is done and over with. What will happen is that all 3.0 Engine purchase downloads will be converted to a BIG MUTHA master installer, and it will always be up to date automatically as patches are released. It'll be the only thing needed for a re-install. And if you purchase a module later on that was released but you didn't get, you won't even have to download anything.

More details about this at a later time.

The forum will be shut down for the migration shortly.

  5. Oh wait, I own the newest version of the CBMN, Italy and Red Thunder; now I have to pay for a 3.0 upgrade?

Sounds a little nickel and dime dealing to me when this was more than likely known, before the release of the new titles.

So now I have to pay for 3.0....?

So what? I pre-order all the CM stuff. I just summed up the total I've spent with them since 2009 and it was less than $500 US. The amount of time and enjoyment I've gotten out of this $100 a year, $8.33 month, $0.37 a day is a good value. I doubt you can find much better value out there.

  6. Very good reminder, Vark. .... snip

Think of it in this crude way. If you are in charge of a dozen children and you split them into 4 teams over a large area, it makes sense to have each team have a radio. If you are in charge of a dozen adults you aren't going to let them out of your sight so why bother giving them all radios? They'll probably just break them anyway :)

    Steve

    Fixed that for ya..... :D

  7. Which will probably end up discouraging them from making such statements in the future. I.e., playing their cards even closer to their chests and not telling us anything about release dates at all.

    Michael

Not likely. Steve was just stating facts based on 15 years of data. He never said it would be out 4-8 weeks after the announcement.

It is 4-8 business weeks.....which means 28-56 business days. We still have awhile to wait..... :D

  8. Yes, with triggers currently not allowing branching or nesting, if then/else conditions, I don't expect them to allow me to program up a tactical genius opponent.

I have been thinking more along the lines that they might allow a kind of enhanced overall command order for a defence, compared to pre trigger scenarios relying simply on time. Much as a higher HQ presents a plan with broad strokes - establish holding forces here, respond to an attack on that point with this action, etc. Naturally with triggers being in an early stage of development I don't know if some of my ideas will be possible until I've actually tried them out.

As I said to Steve in a different post, any triggers are better than none :)

It would be interesting if one could set off an AI vs AI "battle of the plans" for playtesting a scenario.

That feature is for Version 4.0.

  9. Here is a list of all (I think......) of the vehicles (selected in the editor under the Single Vehicles) for the Allies. I'm working on the Axis next. It is curious to note that the Canadian Armoured Infantry branch does not have any formations until Feb. 1944, but still can be selected.

Yes, I have nothing better to do.....but like you would like to see what the options are outside CMFI/CMBN.

  10. Thanks guys!

Frigo, I do this just for fun, so sometimes I don´t follow the schedule ;) Sexton and Marder are two vehicles I personally hate modding,...so far. Today I had a work free day, tons of food, family, and even some free time to update the Panther A Late, now, all Panthers are updated to Version 2.

    ....snip....

I will upload it to CMMODS within 5 mins,... 4 decal options included.

Thank you very much. Your work is excellent and I hope you find time in the future to keep this up. Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year.
