  1. There is only one way to settle this question. Since the Armata has a +1 immunity to NATO weapons and a critical hit re-roll on its 20 sided die should a NATO round actually hit it, this means that there is only one possible thing that can stop it. Battlefront will have to model Chuck Norris. HOWEVER, since this is a video game he will have to be somewhat nerfed. Melee attacks only with no help from Bruce Lee or Kareem Abdul Jabbar. Jackie Chan may come in as reinforcements but he will die quickly. No room for a stunt master in war! Here is the scenario: Mission: Winner Take All Russian Forces: 1 Armata company. Reinforcements: As many as the Russian player wants until he runs out of tanks, Russia goes broke, or they destroy the NATO forces. NATO Forces: Chuck Norris. Reinforcements: Jackie Chan with any weapon he wants. Mission Objectives: Fight to the death. The winner gets to rename Ukrane after themselves. *Designer Note: Russian player MUST leave Russian insignia on tanks. The Russians cannot loose all of their tanks then say they were never there to begin with! The Challenge is made Battlefront! You must make Chuck Norris so that NATO can fight the Armata!
  2. I'm just now starting out that mission. Got the easy version. YAY! The one thing that I have done to help me out is open up all the hummers that I can. They spot WAY better when they are opened up then buttoned up. This has been a good exercise in LOS, but I still think it has issues. My Bradley was able to spot some of the SPAA in the construction yard from the other side of the map through the trees. Granted I might be able to buy off on thermal sights, but it does seem like a long way to spot and engage someone.
  3. Hey, Agusto got it! But in all seriousness, the Russian news media would never lie or spread false information. So I must assume that the Armata is simply the nest tank out there. I look forward to playing with them in the future and all the Total Victories that I will get as a result of its presence! Hopefully soon the Army will give in the futility of fielding Abrams tanks so that I can finally buy one and take it for a spin.
  4. I was reading an article today about the new Armata tank. According to the Russians it is impervious to just about, if not all, current NATO munitions. Basically the Russian take is: Anti-tank missiles? HA! Tank rounds? Please! A couple of bombs? Maybe small nuke might scratch the paint. So if and when the Armata is ever introduced to the game, will it be nerfed so that the NATO player can actually hurt it??
  5. I'm not sure. I clicked the link for both downloads and a .rar was saved to my computer. There is no ability to unzip it. It just says open with when I double click on it. Right clicking provides no option for unzipping
  6. Waclaw thank you for the download, but like kieme's stuff, I can't get it to work. I put the file in the Z folder but nothing happened.
  7. No dice. I created the Z folder and put the .rar file in there but nothing happened. How do you unpack a rar file? I don't see an unpack option.
  8. Kieme, do your mods override the game textures or are they only available for design your own missions? I downloaded the first two terrain mods and put them in the data folder but didn't notice any difference. Where do they go?
  9. Waclaw, how do you register on your site? I registered twice, but it still keeps saying invalid username/password
  10. I have started to mod my Combat Mission Black Sea but I have a question that I have been wondering about for some time, and please believe me, the is not a slam on Battlefront. Why is it that video game developers don't incorporate popular or superior mods to their game as "official" updates? I am someone who is easily lost in a sea of mods and I find myself wondering why developers don't incorporate mods that enhance the game play experience into the official product? I have been burned by mods that crash the game, or require complete deletion and re-installation after a major patch, or mods that are updated but the user needs to try and find the latest and greatest update. Several of the mods are amazing, but I find myself wondering which one to download all the time. Can they not be put into the game because of legal reasons, or is it permission, or is it simply the developer sees the game one way while players see it another? Thanks!
  11. Whhaatt!? A .50 can blow up a thank! Why am I wasting all this time and effort with javelins, planes, and tanks! What happens if I fart in their general direction?
  12. Ok. I read the manual earlier today which is why I was asking. I remember in my Squad Leader days that the good leaders were used for the toughest attacks and the +1 or +2 guys usually just sat in the back since they sucked. For those who never played Squad Leader you wanted low die rolls so a -1 or -2 leader was the best. Since CM doesn't allow you to mix and match leaders I was just wondering how much of a difference it makes. Does CM use a "die roll" type system for simulating how the morale of the squad is affected? Can a squad be rallied back from "nervous" to "cautious" to "ready" or is there an upper limit to what can be achieved once they have been shot at a few times?
  13. After playing through the game, I realized that I rarely look at my leaders and what kind of modifier they provide. Generally I just look at the squads and say "you go here" and "you go there" being more interested in capability rather than leadership. How much more effectiveness does a good leader provide in game? Also, I have a side note question. I am playing the second mission of the American campaign and when the map loaded I only got one M1 tank even though I lost none in the previous mission. Did I get ripped off by the game??
  14. I just wish there was some sort of verbal prompt to let you know when you lose a UAV. Right now the only indicator is a large explosion which can be confusing if you not expecting it or missed during an artillery barrage. Usually I only figure it out when I go to move it and I see the knocked out message. I wish there was some sort of line like "we just lost the UAV, sir" or something so I knew it was gone.
  15. After watching a couple of videos online, a couple of questions came to mind concerning spotting and CAS. 1. Does the quality of support depend on the spotter's observation? So if a spotter can see something, does it have a higher chance of being hit? 2. What is the priority targeting for aircraft? Will AAA be a higher target priority than tanks or does ground support trump aircraft defense? Thanks!
  16. I have couple of questions about support units: 1. Air support. How independent is it? In a few videos I have seen shots of Apaches engaging unseen enemy forces but how common is this? For example, if there are 4 unseen vehicles, will they engage one, two, none? It is just a matter of chance? What about aircraft? 2. Mortars in urban areas, what are they really good for. I know people will drop 120mm mortars on buildings, but does it really do any good? What about 60mm? Are they only good for hitting guys on the roof and smoke missions? Thanks!
  17. Can you blast your way into a building from the sides? I have never tried it before but I know it has been done in real life. It would be handy to kill/wound/suppress anyone inside instead of having to knock on the door every time.
  18. Ok. I had this problem with Shock Force and now I am having it with Black Sea. How do you successfully attack a known enemy position with infantry? It seems like the game is set up for a "defender fires first" rule. These are what I have encountered: 1. Second mission of the US campaign. Far right of map there is a CP with 2 scouts in it. I discovered them when they shot at a couple of guys I had moving through the trees on the left, then they left the house and moved to the woods behind the house. I had some infantry move up on the right plus reinforced on the left. I gave my guys on the right a hunt command to move toward the furthest house closest to the edge of the map. I knew this would expose them, but since the enemy had engaged on the left, I figured a hunt move on the right would work. Wrong! Next thing I know, my guys are getting shot, they can't see what is shooting them even though, I know what is there! Plus, giving them the hunt command should have them on the highest state of alert. Two casualties later the guys on the left open up and suppress the enemy. I decide to move a couple of guys into the house closest to the enemy (directly in front of them) and wanted to use the guys on the left to target the wooded position with light fire. But guess what? No LOS. Since my guys were prone, they couldn't fire unless they sat up or the enemy sat up. So, I had to assault the best I could without suppression and continuing to take casualties from two guys! 2. Attacking building. Unless I can suppress an enemy inside a room then assault it, I can never go in a house without losing some or all of my men. My main tactic is to close quickly with the quick command then hunt my way in. 9 times out of 10 my losses are not from the room I am going into, but an adjacent room that has bad guys that I didn't know about. Once again, even with the hunt command, the enemy shoots first. 3. Sneaking up on vehicles. I notice this even with the vehicles and I have seen it in the videos. You see a known enemy unit then decide to use a vehicle to engage it. Try to come from the side or rear for a great shot? Nope! The enemy just spins around and engages you. But the computer doesn't seem to have a problem blowing up my tanks without me even seeing them! I'm sure this is more me than the code, but I don't get it! What am I doing wrong! I remember the training videos put online using the find, fix, flank rule but when I try to flank, I always take losses. I expect to take losses finding the enemy, but if my guys wont shoot because they are prone, how exactly am I supposed to fix someone? What good is the hunt command when it still results in my guys getting killed because they couldn't see what was shooting at them? Do I need to use covered arcs? Run up vehicles? Help!
  19. I'm surprised that the Russians have such an extensive SAM/AA order or battle while the US/NATO just have stingers. Will there be the M6 Linebacker Bradley or HUMVEE Avenger system? I know the M6 line was discontinued, but I could see it making a comeback in a pinch. Plus there has to be other NATO AA systems in development that could see future use.
  20. I have another question. Will there be scenarios with set piece battles? One thing that has always frustrated me is the lack of battlefield intelligence prior to the start of a mission. I don't think that I have been able to use artillery to prepfire areas of the map or have an idea of how I want to attack until the battle unfolds. Is this lack of intel to reflect real life conditions, to make the game more challenging or have set piece battles just gone away?
  21. Thank you for all the answers everyone! I thought of a new question. Is it likely that there will be partisans at some point? While I doubt it would be much different than Shock Force it would certainly be a feasible reality. Especially if you had "advisers" working with them to incite an uprising. It just seems like a neat idea and could go either way. *Note: Edited for grammer
  22. Hello everyone! I'm looking forward to the new modern combat mission and have dusted off my old shock force game to get ready for it. While I was playing, a few questions popped to mind given the new environment and opposing forces. 1. Will there be some form of air-to-air engagement in the game, even if abstracted? While playing Shock Force, my assumption was that the NATO forces had established some sort of air supremacy in the scenarios and I never questioned the possibility of an opposing air force. However with Russia, I could see a battle unfolding where aircraft from both sides participate. I know that SAMs will be in the game but it would be cool to at least hear the radio chatter of an F-15 engaging a SU-34 or something to that effect. 2. How is LOS for the new game engine? I was playing the old Route Lighting and was still frustrated that a recon Humvee with advanced optics cant see the enemy shooting at him in a flat featureless desert. I was never sure if this was a bug or simply the inability of the game engine to handle LOS issues. Its even more frustrating when I give a hunt command and the thing stops but doesn't report anything.....grrrr! 3. Has having an enemy routed gotten better? With shock force, it seemed like every fight was to the death and no one ever routed away. 4. Apache gunfire support. I had always thought the implementation of the affects of the 30mm gun odd. It appeared as long line of fire and seemed to have large gaps between impact points. In my expert opinion (meaning I watched a YouTube video ) the impact seems to be more clustered and circular instead of liner. Has there been any changes in this? 5. Finally when aircraft come off station to RTB, will they be rearmed or just refueled? Some of these questions may have been addressed and I really look forward to playing the new game!
  23. Ok, problem partially fixed! I was able to lunch the game but when I tried to liscense my Marines and British modules, it said they were maxed out! How do I fix this?
