  1. That is what I thought, thanks
  2. "The standard operational tactic was to run a line of Shermans across open ground. The Tigers they faced would kill the first Sherman then have to traverse the turret to kill the second which would be trying to close the angle and get behind. It would be a race between the Tiger and the third. The surviving Sherman(s) were to have made it behind the slower tiger and killed it with its pop-gun." Is this true? the guy who posted it says he heard it from the history channel, but I just cant believe that this would be true. TheHIV
  3. I have the T-34 Medium Tank 1941-45 book from the osprey publishing, in it, it states that the standard loadout for a t-34 included five rounds of Shrapnel
  4. i was playing CMSF last night and I was playing one of the early campaign missions in which I get a recon platoon of strykers and two tow carrying strykers. of coarse when the tanks came at the end of the level I had my infantry use javelins against them. But I noticed that some of the tanks( they were t62s) would take two or three hits to kill. I could not believe this, so I went on line to find out about the effectiveness of a javelin and I found this video on youtube, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dezg8aflMmk I guess I just feel like it should not take three javelins to kill a t62
  5. Thanks everyone, I will definatly use thse tips the next time I play. And deiseltaylor, you had a good point, when I play i am sort of afraid to lose and therefore I do nothing.
  6. Ok, I am very new to this game so I am still trying to grasp the basics. I really like the concept but I have to get used to the slightly slower game play compared to the RTS's I am used to playing I often find that at the beginning of the levels I am afraid to move out(if I am attacking), I dont want any of my tanks to be sniped buy enemy guns and I am not really sure what to do with my advancing infantry, other than try to keep them in cover and keep the close to their leader. I read a thread that described how to assault a single gun, which helped, but how would I assault another platoon or company. I guess what I am asking is how do I effectively use my infantry? Also what is a good way to minimize losses while moving over open ground? I think that is all for now but I am sure I will have plenty more questions soon.
  7. I just got CMSF and it installed ok, but then when I tryed to run it, it said Iwas not using the real disk and it told me to switch my DVD player settings if it was, which I did, and it did not work. What should I do??? I just installed it on my PC and it works, but it does not here on my laptop. My computer is a dell latitude D630 running Xp service pack 3, it got intel centrino, 2 gigs of ram
  8. Thanks guys the death clock and fog of war makes sense, though I didnt realize that the fog of war in the game was that extensive. And after the first couple of penetrations it did stop moving and shooting, but it still registered as as alive so I kept pelting it.
  9. Im am pretty new to cm and I was playing the cmak demo (I am waiting for the full version to arrive), anyway I was playing the level where the germans get 15 Pzr 3s and I was playing as the Americans. towards the end Of the level I was kicking the germans ass's when one of my shermans and grants started attacking one of the panzers, they both scored at least 5 penatrations(I just took 2 percacet and I cant remember how to spell penatation) each in one turn. This went on for another turn and the crew did not bail out until the third all the while the tank kept moving and returning fire. I guess I dont understand how this is possible. All the accounts of real combat describe armor penatrations as a traumatic time to be inside a tank and the crew would invariably bail out. Can someone explain this to me. PS. I am really sorry about this incoherent question. I assure you my spelling and grammer will improve once the drug have worn off, (I just had my wisdom teeth removed a day ago)
