Well, I'm up for doing the uniforms, once I finish the Goumier for CMFI RtV and a few things for 37mm and the Heaven and Earth mod. I have some of the weapons swaps already, too.    I have a number of uniforms "base-camo'd"  (but much more work needed on them and the helmets and gear)  for the various African Bush Wars combatants and for the Philippines.  I need to do some more for more recent events in Burkino-Faso , Mali, Chad, South Sudan, Ethiopia, Nigeria, etc., etc.  Basically, the whole effing continent!

No worries - user made content is another matter of course, I intent to update all of my CMSF scenarios but never seem to have the time.  I have updated this one though:
    https://www.thefewgoodmen.com/tsd3/cm-shock-force-2-2/cm-shock-force-2-scenarios/op-barras-cmsf-2/
And then if you grab @mjkerner's recently completed awesome looking mod you'll be good to go ...

I will update that scenario for CMSF2 by putting real water tiles down and a proper bridge in lieu of the CMSF1 workaround at some point … and maybe some other trickery - then again - reference other trickery, if it ain't broke, don't fix it ….

Combatintman got a reaction from IanL in How do you get your artillery to be accurate?
There are other factors you can't control though such as the experience of both the firing unit and the observer - if both of these are conscript or green then you can expect longer preparation times and longer spotting times.  So where you have a mix of observers your best bet is to choose the right type of observer eg FO for guns, JTAC (or whatever they're called in-game) for aircraft.  Then:
Make sure that they are in the same chain of command. Pick the observer with the highest skill rating. Pick the observer with the lowest suppression levels (ideally none) Put the observer where they can see as much of the target area as possible. Also - during the spotting phase - if you have a couple of turns where the spotting round hits the same point and shows no signs of shifting, cancel the mission and start again.  Otherwise, you'll just waste a bunch of rounds for spotting and in all likelihood the firing unit will dump the whole fire mission on that spot if you don't cancel it.
A final thought … the Royal Artillery are nicknamed 'drop shorts' in the British Army for good reason 😉

I was thinking of something like this to capture the shape and height of the building - one of the two options below (all modular buildings):

I appreciate it isn't perfect because the extensions top and bottom are way bigger than the actual building but it does at least make the building more interesting.  According to Wikimapia it is a community centre.  The church is also shown on Wikimapia and a couple of schools.
The area in the SE corner is interesting - it ain't a cemetery for sure even though there are two large holes in the ground on the eastern side of that area 😉 You're right, it seems to be something that either never got built or got trashed a long time ago.

    Nikishyne / Nikishino
North-east of Donetsk and south-east of Debaltseve.
    map size : 2100 X 1900 m
    type : village
Nikishyne saw a lot of fighting in 2015 during the battle for Debaltseve. I might post more in depth background info later. But at the end of the battle, it was basically a field of rubble with barely any house intact.
    Google Earth view :

View from the South West :

    From the North East :

    Notes :
Again the setup zones aren't that big. They're sufficient for a small force.
I added objectives and setup zones for a meeting engagement so people could give the map a go and have some fun either as a pbem or a hotseat game. Historically the setup zones don't make a lot of sense though. I am aware of that. As far as I understand, the Ukrainian forces were reinforcing the village from the North and North-West and the separatists were coming from the South or South East. I picked these setup zones because I think they offer the most interesting tactical options and are more or less fair for both sides but they're not historical at all.

There seem to be a few tutorials doing the rounds of late … so you’re going to get another one – on planning. So if you’re somebody who wondered how it is done, or are somebody who casts a rudimentary eye over the ground, skims through the orders and then just launches across the line of departure with the view to developing a plan on the hoof and wants to change this – then this is the thread for you.

The vehicle for the tutorial is SeinfeldRules Assault Position Mission.  The associated thread is here:

What do you get from this thread – simply put it will delve into the planning process and then roll into an AAR. I am playing this as designed so Axis attacker versus the AI. So without further ado, let’s crack on with it. Also I’d be grateful if people could refrain from posting spoilers on this mission if you’ve played it – I haven’t yet – which is kind of the point of stepping through the planning process first!!!!

I will warn you that I am no means an expert on military planning but have been around it enough to know how it works. I will cut corners with it here and there but this isn’t necessarily about military doctrine, it is about giving you guys an understanding of some techniques to help you plan your battles should you have a mind to do so.

Clearly questions (that do not contain spoilers) are welcome but many of my answers might be ‘I’ll come to that later’.

    Progress on Ap Bac ...

    Strategic Map:

Topo Map compared to CM screenshot:

Working title for the scenario is 'A miserable damn performance', which was Lieutenant Colonel John Paul Vann's (7 ARVN Division US advisor) judgement on the battle.
Overall the scenario is a whopper, two and half hours long, the map is 2000m x 3008m (I've basically half-scaled the map dimensions to fit it all in); however, I've worked hard to get the troop numbers pretty close to the actual thing.

@Zveroboy1 - had a more detailed look at this.  It is impressive as you clearly have used street view to get the road sign placement, the shrine and the bus shelters in the right places.  Should you wish to make some changes I would recommend the following:
Have a look at the telegraph poles in the village - quite a few of them need rotating.
I would rotate the shrine by 90 degrees.
I would replace the gravel tiles in the area of the shrine.  As you know from street view the area is a small car park which can be replicated using the highway tiles using the two tiles circled in red in the image below with different rotations to achieve a parking bay look:

Otherwise - I repeat my earlier comment - good work.

Called top cover sentry in the UK when you're looking for the Queen's enemies armed with AKs and other assorted ground unpleasantness - air sentry being what it says on the tin.  I remember doing that for a whole day in a 4-tonner with an SLR in Gulf War 1 and had the shock of my life as an Apache pulled alongside unseen and unheard from my six o'clock to the three o'clock position at a height of about 50 feet and a range of two hundred metres.  It was one of those many moments in my military career where I felt that I had been given a somewhat unachievable task and a lack of suitable resources to do it with.
