  1. Hope you enjoy it - and hopefully it will get you in the mood to try another one I'm working on.
  2. Try the 'To Verdenne and Victory' scenario - testers indicated that it worked as H2H (it is a biggie though).
  3. You know you want to Bill ... although testing it nearly drove me mad ... why? You can't turn trees off in CMSF - amazing what a big difference some small things make. Anyway for the rest of the folks it has been successfully uploaded and you can get it here: http://www.thefewgoodmen.com/tsd3/cm-shock-force-2/cm-shock-force/op-minimise/
  4. You don't need Photoshop or Photoshop skills ... all of my graphics are screen grabs imported into Powerpoint where they are annotated and then resized in Paint. Here's the latest lot ...
  5. Hi gents, Keeping the CM flame burning, I have uploaded a new mission to the Scenario Depot called Op MINIMISE. This is the spiel 'This is a fictional but representative depiction of the hard choices and severe constraints faced by small units operating in Helmand Province Afghanistan in the early iterations of the British presence there. The map is of real terrain in the area indicated by the mapping. My motives for putting this together were, apart from paying tribute to the brave men and women who served in that dangerous place, to design a short but fun and challenging mission. It is easy to win but really you should strive for a Total Victory to do it justice. I hope you enjoy it.' Here are some briefing graphics:
  6. Too much work for little gain would be my viewpoint ... would it be nice ... of course but at the end of the day (if you forgive the pun) there are plenty of cues out there. Even if the designer has skimped on the detail in the briefing, when you first load the scenario you are told the time of day. When you go into deployment mode you can see the light conditions and work out from there whether it is going to get lighter or darker.
  7. I tested this one ... and got my bottom handed to me both times I went anywhere near the hotel ... while the hotel route is doable, there are other ways and that is the beauty of this atmospheric little mission. Poesel did a great little job with this.
  8. No ... all standalone scenarios in the release have to be playable Allies vs AI, Axis vs AI and H2H - it is BF policy and quite rightly so.
  9. All of the campaigns shipping with the title are awesome to be honest. Hours of fun to be had for all.
  10. Believe it or not - there is a pillbox in this image (although about to be an ex-pillbox) - this is from the Aachen campaign.
  11. Every day's a school day eh? I never knew that either.
  12. I live in Australia so I'm a generally a few hours ahead of most people save my ANZAC cousins across the Tasman.
  13. Some stuff you may find useful ... I'm not stalking MOS 96B2P btw ...!!!
  14. Don't feel stupid ... every day is a school day as they say ... I've been playing this game for years, yet at least once a month I learn something new on here. Good luck with your half tracks in your next game!!
  15. Depends which Army - the Brits (at least until I left in 2010) don't use 'S' designators. At battlegroup level the positions are named so the '3' is the Operations Officer, the '2' is the Intelligence Officer. G designators = 'Ground', A designators = 'Air' and 'N' designators = Naval. The Brits used 'G' designators at Bde level until recently and probably still do. 'J' = Joint. Thus ... G2 = The intelligence officer/branch of a ground/land component headquarters A2 = The intelligence officer/branch of an air component headquarters N2 = The intelligence officer/branch of a maritime component headquarters J2 = The intelligence officer/branch of a joint force headquarters
  16. In which case I apologise unreservedly - my instinct is generally to be as helpful as I can but I did find that comment funny.
  17. Just wiping the snot off my screen now ... absolute belter
  18. I'm sure it has happened, from my viewpoint I see these as issues: Accurate map making in CMSF is a chore because it lacks the overlay feature introduced with the WW2 titles. My experience of map making in CMSF is that this generally consumes the bulk of the time - some of my maps have been months of work - and it does tend to put me off these days. Most of the established scenario designers still active in the Community (eg JonS, GeorgeMC) are working on WW2 projects now. Collaborative working quite often leads to exactly the opposite!!! I don't think many people are short of ideas - I have heaps of ideas for this title, but it is down to time to create them. In fact I still have quite a few half finished projects lurking on my hard drive that I still want to complete but struggle to get them out of the door. The sad truth is - unless more people get into the editor and start cranking scenarios out, there is unlikely to be much more new content for CMSF. I really hope that the title does get a makeover with some of the newer features - especially the map overlay, bridges and water - it could tempt scenario designers back.
  19. Ok is an optimistic assessment ... it is essentially a dull monologue that I'm sure Steve didn't feel needing repeating here.
  20. Although I am very much a fan and my 'give a flipometer' barely flickers about the GUI (stated for context) I had not thought about the design decisions required as stated above. Every day is a school day as they say. My view (FWIW) is that making it easier to move units around would be helpful but it is not a deal breaker.
  21. Honest answer is I don't know but I suspect that you will have to install the old fashioned way.
