  1. Yes well, about 1000p pbem on cmbb. The better player you think you are, the better. Email me at tero.virtanen@hotmail.com and we'll talk.
  2. So, anyone got first hand knowledge where the picture(pictures?) are that show the amount of ammo infantry has? The green-red bar. I can find the text 'ammo' but not the actual bar, which I'd like to edit. The ammo text is 1019. Ive scrolled all pics thru twice but didnt find it. Ive got this vista/geforce problem, every unit that shows the ammo bar makes the screen refresh rate very very low. Like arty spotter that shows the ammo bar is laggy, but once target is given and time counter takes over the graphical display of ammuniotion, the game is smooth. So I'd like to edit it out to try if it helps. Thanks if someone knows.
  3. Just figured out what really slows(at least) my vista/9600gt down. The graphically displayed green/red bar on infantry. The moment I selected arty spotter the refresh rate dropped to annoyingly slow, then after I managed to give a target point for him, the game got much much faster. And in short, the amount of ammo displayed as green/red bar got replaced by the time it takes for the bombardment to start. Tried it with many diff units and those that have the bar really slow the fps, but tanks etc have not that and with them its quite smooth to give orders. Anyone else got anything to say to this? Or ability to take that graphical bar off?
  4. There was some fix for(radeon?) cards that makes text appear in 'small black boxes' so that they are readable, because else the graphics card would not show them properly. So that text altering is possible I think. And I invite everyone to try selecting enemy units and telling if there is a difference...
  5. I still gotta say this; Has anyone tried to reduce the amount of texts you see when selecting troops in-game? I mean when the game is laggy and slow with vista/nvidia and you have an enemy unit selected, its smooth(enemy units displays so little texts) and when you select your own units the game gets laggy. I think some guru can alter those texts maybe...?
  6. Hmm, fps in troops selection =D By that I mean that when you click something, the games response time increases as the amount of text in the screen increases. Or does that count to fps... well anyway......
  7. Maybe these nice battlefront people could make a small official mod(or if there is such already...?) that changes the in-game texts on the low edge of the screen, because it really is that amount of text there that slows vista(?) and nvidia(?). So own infantry has a lot of info texts(overall fitness, current fitness level, ammo etc) and when selected, the fps is really poor. Totally annoying to give precise orders to infantry. Selecting guns or vehicles in much smoother, and they do have much less texts. Enemy troops have almost no texts, and selecting them is pretty normal smoothness level. Cant really play with enemies selected... And 'buying' troops also is laggy. I mean the more troops you have selected for the battle, the lower the fps gets as the amount of text increases. So, do something to the texts? Make the font smaller? Or use abbreviations...? Veteran players really dont need to have all texts fully visible. I mean to always see if troops are fit, weakened or unfit. F, W and U would suffice for example. Should not be a big thing to change if one who has the skills to do that, has any heart for that job.
  8. Arrgh! I'd take a picture of this threat with my original cd-case next to it, but I dont know how to post pictures here =) But really, the p-word version works better for me. Well ok, WORKED at least in my previous computer. I got that weird messed up texts in tcp-ip games very very very often with the original version when starting the games and immediately if I alt-tabbed to desktop, and there was annoying flashing white lines near the edge of the maps. P-word version had no probs at all. So cant really say it would have been issue with graphich card either... But ok, enough about that and sorry for bringing it up. Just bought a new computer and half life 2 with it. And yes, original hl2 =) First it had some stupid a.i. problem, the after struggling to fix that it now crashes very very very often when loading new areas. *sigh* Then reading from forums that people have same problems and then other people accusing then for having p-word versions, when they really do can have originals, as do I. Just pisses me off. Dont know how this relates to anything but in this hl2 case I bet the p-word version might just work better than the one I spent money to. Arse, I say =) Hmm ok I admit that first reply of mine sounds really bad =/
  9. Download the game. I have original and a pirate, and the pirate works much more reliably than the real one.
  10. Hrmph. Selecting own INFANTRY is extreme slow, but guns and vehicles are just slow. AA/AT gun selected makes the game slow, but selecting own inf makes it much more slow. Also mg's and tank hunters etc are much more slow, just like infantry. Vehicles are not as slow as inf. Being in command distance of leaders does not affect inf or guns. Enemy inf and vehicles are always smooth. Totally weird.
  11. Own unit selected: extremely slow. No unit selected: Very slow. Enemy unit selected: Smooth. Amount of stuff in the map does not affect anything. Just the selected units. Talking alone it semms =)
  12. All right now Im making funny sounds here =D Whatever the hell that means. Ok so the game is very laggy now with the 2x(and 4x) antialiasing. One thing I noticed thou, was that when I select an enemy unit, then the game scrolls around the map smoothly and there is no lag at all. Units move smoothly and such. Works like it should. But once I select my own unit(or no unit at all), the lagging and frustratingly slow scrolling is back. Rune, you noticed this? Maybe has to do with the info screen at the bottom of the screen? I mean when it shows the enemy unit, theres not much texts. But with your own unit, there is alot more text. Or with the 'terrain info', theres also a lot of text. Cant be that... What the heck could do that? Graphic or other causing that? Suggestions for that?
  13. Ah mister Rune, you be my hero. Took some time to find that place to set those settings, but the blackness has and is gone and away. Pretty damnably slow thou, with this being one hard arse machine. No matter if its a 300 point open field with all trees and such set to none, or 5000 point game with extreme trees etc, always slow. Guess one cant make it scroll faster =/ And the one second lag in mouse clics, thats annoying as hell.
