  1. Just downloaded the CMFI demo and finally giving this game a go. I've played it twice now, both times losing. I'm trying to get fire on that AT gun with my mortars but I can't get them in position to draw a bead on them. Going to go watch some basic how-to videos before I give it another go. Really want to learn how to do well in this game. Appreciate any quick tips for this scenario. Thanks
  2. Thank you! I'll watch those too. I'm going to play around with the demo and I'll more than likely post here if/when I get stuck. I think I'd learn so much more and quicker if someone could slap me around some and tell me what I'm doing wrong and provide some guidance.
  3. I only have the FI demo right now. I figure I best not drop any money on this until I give the demo a good spin.
  4. Thanks for confirming. Glad I only spent $3 on BoB then I'll play around with one of the demo versions and plead and beg for someone to help show me the ropes!
  5. Ohh...so learning CMx1 (BoB in this case) isn't really going to help me much with learning the newer CM games? If so, I DO NOT want to do that. My game time is limited and I'd rather avoid trying to learn 2 systems. Thank you for that nugget of info.
  6. Appreciate all the tips. I did find someone on a PC wargaming FB page who plays a lot and they are going to take the time to show me the ropes, albeit on a CMx1 game, BoB.
  7. yep, those are the ones I found. Exactly what I was looking for. Thanks
  8. So, I've got the FI demo and I'm going to start the plunge with this game. Can someone here recommend to me good online tutorials to help educate me? I feel like I have a decent amount of knowledge when it comes to war gaming (I play a lot of WW2 table top miniature games) but little in the way of PC war gaming. I mean, I know not to run out in an open field at least and smoke, smoke, and more smoke. Thank you Edit - I found some on Youtube!
  9. Thanks....I think I'm going to download the Italy demo and give it a go. I have some good site for "how to's" and what not.
  10. So, I'm guessing this can't be done in a demo version?
  11. I tried the Fortress Italy demo several years ago and I ran away crying for my mom . I wasn't expecting that much of a learning curve. I'm finally mustering up the caones to give it another go. I know I'm going to get my *** handed to me, but I struggle with patience, or a lack of it.
  12. I'm trying to dip my toes into this game (I have the Italy demo) and it struck me....could you AI both sides? Pick the forces and let the AI battle it out.
  13. Is it possible to pick the compute to play both sides in these games? Thanks
  14. Wanted to thank everyone for all the tips and advice. I'm going to start dabbling with the demo this weekend and when I think I have the basics down pretty well I'm going to take the plunge. Just not sure which title it will be.
  15. I just downloaded the Normandy demo and I'm giving this another try. I gave this a go several years ago and put it on the back burner because I was so new to the genre. Fast forward to now and having a couple years under my belt playing Battle Academy 1 & 2, Unity of Command, Theater of War (briefly), Steel Divisions (briefly) I find myself lured back to this beast. I know I'm going to fail, a lot, but I want to really "get" this game. I've watched the Armchair General videos multiple times. Any tips/tricks from you pros here for a new guy? Not sure if the demo will allow me to play a smaller platoon vs platoon battle, but I know starting off as small as I can is the best approach. Thanks
  16. Is it my understanding that Windows Vista 64 uses cannot use the battle editor??? Uhm....why? That makes me not want to buy this game and why haven't they fixed it? Thanks
  17. Yea, no kidding. Is there someone out there willing to "teach" someone how to alter the stats of vehicles (as long as the developer doesn't mind of course!)or email an example of how to do that? Thanks Zas
