  1. This totally makes sense. When I am driving on the highway, or to the local Burger King, and someone calls me on my cell phone and asks me if I want to come over and hang out, the FIRST thing I do it slam on the breaks! I used to try actually just turning the steering wheel, slowing my car down, and turning casually, but I found that just wasted gas, and you know how expensive gas can be. In this game, it only makes perfect sense. When you are driving a truck through a situation where you are getting shot at, and someone gives you a new order, the first thing they did in WWII was yell, "WOAH, stop the truck, we have a new order!" They would then sit there and wait for the order, and only then would they move. I mean, I think it's a rule of war or something where once a vehicle stops, it's considered "home free" until it starts moving again.
  2. Oh Oh, I have some! "Damn, we missed the trees!" "Oops, can these tanks reverse?" "This is what I think of your Pathfinding!" "Hans, keep shooting at the tank, the 13 Infantry behind us are busy deciding if they should stand up, or go prone!" "Hans, you're blocking my LOS!" Hans, "Hahaha blocking LOS, good one!" German Soldier 1, "Are you dead?" German Soldier 2, "No, but remind me to all the landscaper, this grass is an amazing shade of green" German Soldier 1, "I think this is astroturf." U.S. Soldier, "Ha, I told you if we drove all the way around Berlin we could actually survive an AT attack!" "Hold button, HOLD BUTTON!!...ahhh crap!"
  3. See, this post might seem strange because they are scattering...and while that is true, it is very odd, I think it's more crazy how your vehicles actually were able to avoid the temptation to mow down those trees!!
  4. I just wanted to throw in s "quick" comment (any comment after that post will appear quick). Basically the parts where Gat was talking about the "little guy" syndrome/excuse is kinda why this game makes me cranky. Maybe I am strange, but a good portion of my decision to put money into something comes from trust. In a situation like this, I am seeing a lot of users (myself included) starting to discover problems with this game that could result in it having a very short lifespan. For me, when I ask questions regarding all the problems I see, if the company responds with attitude, or plays the, "We're just little guys" card, then my trust factor starts to slide. What does it matter if I trust them or not you ask? Well, I want to trust the company is going to continue to stand by, and fix the product. If they insist on charging the same price as the other companies, then I want to know they are going to support it at least as well as some of them do. I personally don't think this game should cost what is does considering the fact that it is actually a really old game, full of a lot of problems. However, if they insist on charging that much, I simply want to know that somewhere along the line they, or someone will fix it. With that said, I understand the need for some people around here to defend this game regardless. The company is an obvious one, but there are a lot of people here who have spent a lot of time on these forums and as such, it can feel like a big let down when you start to think possibly your time has been wasted. And then there are the people who have pre-ordered. It's understandable that anyone with a bad thing to say can put that feeling deep down in their stomach where they don't even want to see bad things on a game they have already spent money on. I personally would like the Dev's to stop trying to be something they are not. Stop puffing up their chests and pretending they are larger than life, but playing that "We're only 7 people" card every time something is brought up that can't be explained. Instead of bashing people who are making negative comments towards the game, maybe try embracing the ideas, making note, and doing what is needed to make this game the best it can be. Perhaps that means releasing source code to modders (it's not like industry secrets are going out) and let them run with it. Embrace peoples enthusiasm to help out and set it up in a way that you can regulate it and make sure it's in the best interest of the game. With that said, I don't really trust this company much. They are good at responding to posts on this forum, but there have been little red flags for me that have come up like simply omitting problems (such as the british voices missing) and jsut playing damage control AFTER people have spent thier money.
  5. Hmmmm oh. For the record I pay for it on my end too because I have bandwidth limits on my end. Maybe throw it up on fileplanet or one of those other free sites? Or like I asked, can someone legally put it in a Torrent file or something, that should take the strain off your server. If I burn the digital copy to disk when I download it, can I run it like it would if I got the actual CD backup?
  6. Von, I feel for you man, I am in the same boat. I feel the camera is always working against me when I am trying to get to where I want to be. Sometimes I'll get the camera where I want it, and I'll head down to the bottom of the screen to click the Prone icon and it'll pan backwards. Other times I'll pan sideways and then try to stop on a unit, and it'll seem to continue past that point. Sometimes when I am hitting the middle mouse button and orbiting around, it'll skip forward and throw me off my target. The scroll wheel raises the height, which I am always trying to use as a zoom to the object, I am told you can set it, but I didn't look yet. And sometimes, when I press ENTER, and then ENTER again, the camera will swing me around to the enemy view, and sometimes it won't...I dunno why.
  7. No, see I want both, but I don't understand why it's costing me more money simply to download a file. I'm kinda paying more money in both raised cost, and shipping and handling. It's like I am being "punished" for trying to play the game now, but have a backup. I mean, why not allow users who buy the physical DVD to download the game for free? I mean why not just let anyone download the game for free...it's totally useless without the license anyway. I just feel you're taking advantage of me because I want a physical copy of the manual and game, but I also don't want to wait 14 days for it to ship. So as a result I have to pay what might be $70 + for a $45 dollar game after shipping and exchange. *scratches head* confused.
  8. Umm, I don't understand. Didn't I already get the manual in the demo? As well, maybe I am ignorant, but does it actually cost $45 for a person to download the game? Will you upload a copy to my FTP for free and I can download it for free, then just pay $45 for the license? I guess I just don't understand why the cost isn't free for the download, and $45 for the license, and then when you get a DVD copy, you get a download free. Is it legal for someone else to send me the game digitally, and me pay you for a physical DVD? and save some money?
  9. This is actually what I am waiting for before I get it. I would like to hear how it's working for people cause I almost never play single player games. If anyone can post some videos too, that would be the bees knees!
  10. Can I get a buck off because I don't need the CD or physical manual? Wait a second...why does it cost more to get both the digital download and the CD, and still have shipping and handling? Does it cost the company more for the user to download when you have to ship a CD? Just curious. [ April 20, 2007, 05:42 AM: Message edited by: crazylegsmurphy ]
  11. Maybe, but I like big butts and I can't deny. Moon answered some good questions in there, check it out check it out.
  12. Karma, thats aboot enough outta you eh!
  13. TTorpedo, I was complaining about most of those things too. It drives me batty every time to see Tom Hanks firing his pistol at a tank on the field. I was told to order them a "hold fire" command, but as we all know if you don't get back to them in time, well, who knows if they'll start to fire again when the troops get into view. I too found it hard to keep track of my guys. The scrolling thing under the mini-map is almost 100% useless to me because it's always saying something and I am never looking at it. I personally think they need to issue audio to inform the player of problems. Your idea would work also, just something to keep me updated. I also think a tactical map of some sort is in order. I mean there are times when everyone would get so spread out I simply couldn't get a big picture of all that was going on, so I just tunnel visioned on some random battle. As for AT guns. The more I play the demo, the more it feels like I'm just in one giant flat wheat field like Saskatchewan Canada. Sure there are things all over the place, but it never really feels like any of it matters, especially to troops. I have been told that the units can follow tanks for cover, but I have yet to try.
  14. Don't listen to him Joe! I complained about this when my trucks in the Demo plowed down all the trees to make room for Twin Pines Mall. It's not my fault the units have no ability to think for themselves. I'm not even getting paid for that babysitting gig. I said it once and I'll say it again. You can't just pick and choose AI. There has to be some form of consistency. You can't say, "The units will stand up, lay down, and twirl in circles, regardless of that you want" and "They will fire on anything they see, unless you tell them to hold fire" And then turn around and say, "If you're not making good orders, it's your fault!" You can't just throw AI consistency out the window when it doesn't suit the situation. You can't just call someone stupid for assuming your tanks will at least think somewhat like the rest of your troops. Plain and simple, the pathfinding isn't up to snuff. Someone is trying to play it off as player error, instead of programming errors.
  15. That someone was me. Take a look a few posts down, I asked a buttload of questions that a lot of others are now starting to ask, but for some reason I was the one they threw stones at.
