ok, got it guess i assumed the leaders supply would be 0 without rail or port access thanks

so even if the leader is out of supply he could keep the units at 5??? i didn't know that. that would make an attack that didn't take a port more feasible thanks again

also, along the lines of this type of scenario if a leader is amphibed along with army/corps/etc but there is no port access for the leader to get supply, will it improve the supply of the units attached to him?? i thought i saw a post along those lines but it may have beeen sc or sc2 not waw?? reason im asking is it would be annoying to land a large amount of units and have all my units go to supply 0 the next turn, if i don't eliminate the enemy controlling the port, and have them get wasted VC

thanks seamonkey, just wasn't sure if it was like some of the other ports with attached cities that can be taken by getting forces on either side of the port, without taking the city, and then you get supply guess my initial question wasn't specific enough voncasey

so.............does anyone know if you can take the port in sicily or the one in souther italy without taking out the defender in the city??

well the question was actually on the assumption that i would not 'vanquish' his corp or army in the city on the first turn i thought that for some ports you could take the port without taking the attached city if you landed on two hexes bordering the port?? for example in sicily my opponent has a lvl 1 inf corps in the city and one in the mountain below............is there a way to land forces and capture the port even if you dont kill the guy right off otherwise, im thinking i may have to build up the tac bombers so they may be able to take him down sufficiently to make a sure kill, and/or the bombers to cut supply by bombing out the souther itialian city leading to sicily i have huge naval and air superiority right now so shouldn't be a problem but like you said i dont want to jump the gun and get a bunch of guys stuck out there with no supply

it is summer 43, playing sc2 waw as allies against human pbem took NA and want to assault italy/sicily can i get a port in southern italy or sicily prior to killing the italian army in either of these cities? i realize in most instances you can get the port by having infantry on both sides of the port despite a city next to the port but it is hard to tell on the hexes. don't want to amphib guys over only to get cut off cause they can't get a port for supply i also took the italian port/island south of marseille and the city south of yugoslavia he has italian fighter, bomber in mts, special forces in rome, two corp on sicily, army in brindisi (or whatever that city is on souther italy)...........he has no navy except one destroyer what about landing corps in norther italy to cut the rail lines to avoid german reinforcement??

that would make alot of sense never thought of op moving air out of east for winter

Do you guys usually take out spain and gibraltar as well?? at the same time?

wow, i did not know that.........thank you.....thought it may be a glitch ive been experimenting with attacking Malta on the human vs computer game to use on my pbem nemesis in the future by the way, if you head into spain/gibraltar, and try to take out malta after conquering france, it seems nearly impossible to have enough guys on the eastern front in time for '41 barby on scwaw vs computer, i tried the turn 2 attack of Belguim (operating 1/2 axis from poland), took France by july '40 along with Denmark and Norway. Then opd 2 stukas, 2 bombers, 3 fighters to southern italy and majority of armies/tanks to spain along with leaders for each group and left bock in france. took both spain and malta but was way to late getting back to eastern front how the heck do you get spain and malta and still get leaders with enough guys on the eastern front in time for june '41 barby........seems impossible

Not sure if this has come up in the past Playing sc waw v 1.02 pbem and vs computer (i know there are updates but our pbem games are slow) Bomb targets that are entreched with allied lvl 2 bombers such as Gibraltar, Malta and when i mouse over the target the entrech value is not being reduced, however when i hit Malta with a stuka then mouse over target then the entrech is reduced Dont bombers reduce entrechment?? thanks

thanks Huber, that answers my question actually even though UK is out, Russia is holding on and i could probably sneak back into Alexandria. didn't know you could change the script to Canada.......that is kinda cool.

Does anyone know if you retake Alex, after the Germans capture it and knock uk out of the war, does the uk come back into the war Asking cause i notice the MPP ticker for Uk is gaining points although the uk is out of the war.........maybe these can be used by canada?

so if Alexandria is recaptured do the Brits come back into the war?

hey, thanks for the ideas that actually helps alot i know there is never any 'set strategy' but it helps to have some clue as to what someone who has played this more frequently would think this through i assume by strat bombing you are refering to bombing NA ports to cut off axis supply (if i had landed US troops prior to axis taking alexandria, OR are you referring to strat bomb from England now that i have retaken it (my current plan)

Just want to pick the brains of the experts on their typical strategy on dealing with UK island surrender and capital transfer in WAW (of course this wouldn't usually happen with the experts) Just had a human/human game waw where i lost the island to post fall of France 1940 Sealion. Then transfered UK to Egyptian capital. Thought i'd be ok since i had virtually wiped out the Italian navy but i couldn't get my naval readiness much above 30-40 so they were pretty useless down there. Also due to the loss of the island and axis Gibralter my readiness/moral of troops in Egypt was so poor i don't think i could have prevented powerful axis advance into Egypt no matter how manny troops i placed down there. i retook the island in hopes of transferring UK capital back there, but found out that isn't an option only after i had mostly evacuated Egypt as the Axis were advancing. i was thinking it may have been prudent to pump US troops into Egypt (althought i think they wouldn't be much help against lvl 3-4 luftwaffe and troops), or to take Gibraltar and spain back prior to trying to retake UK island in order to give the Limeys in Egypt a better readiness/morale Just looking for standard strategy in this situation, although the next time i will likely just guard England tighter rather than sending the troops to France

wow that sucks as the UK troops are way too weak to defend against Germans in Alexandria when they come through North Africa cause of the hit they take after UK falls thought it would transfer back so i evacuated Egypt only to find UK Surrendered and lost all troopers

playint waw as allies UK was captured and capital trasfered to Alexandria i recaptured Manchester with US troops but capital did not trasfer back is the capital stuck in Alexandria if Uk is captured??

so does a 10 port resupply ships faster than a 5?? Usa is currently joined

As allies in waw once Uk island falls can the Uk navy resupply in any allied port eg Iceland, US, Canada or do they need to go to Egypt?

i just got invaded by my email opponent (successfully for him) mostly because air superiority.......it was the sc waw game but similiar strategy he also had just enough uboats/ships to block my ships from hitting his transports paras help alot cause you can drop them in to capture a port

uh oh, now the nazis took the island......didn't think it would be so easy........but my email opponent caused USA and Russia to enter, it's june 41 and he has no one on the eastern polish border and allies have all but wrapped up their whirlwind tour of North Africa most of my Royal Navy is safe Question: 1)the navy moral/readiness is low in 30s......will it get better if sitting in allied ports.....like Canada or Iceland or do they need to go to Egypt to improve 2)i would assume it is standare play to try to take back England once USA powers up......should be able to wait until next spring as he is nowhere near ready for Barby just looking for comments as its been a while since i played allies and never with waw

oh yeah, can US units upgrade on UK soil?? i havent played allies for a while and want to make sure before shipping units over.........i assume they would be the same as UK units on friendly soil
