  1. Poor 2nd Army is reinforced and left to her fate on the outskirts of Kiev. Other forces pull back in a defensive position. An army is an expensive probe to find out tank tech level, but no one was in position to hit that spot near Kiev. Otherwise quiet in Europe. Yes, China will have a hard time falling, especially on the eve of USA entry. Going to have to get tricky here.
  2. Panzers in the Snow, 1941 {Europe} Snow flurries abound, we ping two Russian corps, not much damage in this weather. We keep pouring money into the overhaul of out army, they will be ready for spring. OKH has issued concerns about the British troops who are now free from Ethiopia. Ghestapo asked to ascertain overall strategic assessment and planning of the British Empire, a rather tall order! Franco comes closer to joining the Axis, by 8%. 5% more and the magic 90% threshold will be achieved. {Pacific} Yes, landing craft are spotted moving around the ocean, but it's just maneuvers, it's not like we want war to break out, do we? Expedition Army pops 8th Route for 3 this turn. Quiet everywhere else. Oops, was going to do pics, will do next turn.
  3. November 1941 Germans have to still DOW USSR, and move up into Russian territory. Mud and rain, very quiet turn. If Gort had morale, his would be going lower as his staff is shelled and strafed to death. Luckily there is a nearby port to bring in more vict....err, reinforcements. Blackshirts numbers are dwindling, those Mosquitoes are getting quite good at pinpoint bombing. [China] Bombers flatten fortifications 8th Route Army is hiding in, Expedition Army hits 'em for 2 damage. Nothing else to report.
  4. October, 1941 {Europe} Blackout in effect, the only one seeing action is Gort, shelling continues. Blackshirts get some locals to volunteer to fill in their ranks. Your side is right if you control the food. {China} Chengchow falls in the rain. Troops around Nanning are quiet. Everything else is quiet.
  5. Gort makes himself target practice for the Kriegsmarine. Dublin getting plowed for potato planting in the near future. Troops on the Russian border gear up for the inevitable, lucky tech gives me Tank 2 over the last two turns. Blackshirts invent heat seeking rocks, hiding in the rubble, and refusing to go away. Chengchow, uhg, I do it backwards, pull my troops away from the south across the river, then look to my troops to the east and do the what the heck attacks. 3 armies attack take 2 hits inflict 4. Huge, huge mistake by me. If I did that 1st, then attacked from the south, Chengchow would be in my hands. Nothing else to report. Just denying myself way too much money on the continent by not pushing the Chinese around.
  6. Hubert, I don't need to send you a turn, you can replicate it very easily. Just play the 1st turn of 1939 scenario. On the second Axis turn, if you are not in port, you are marked with the 'R', except Graf Spee, who is blowing up oil at Trinidad. Just tried it 3 starts in a row, worked every time. Version 1.03. I don't remember if it is only the 1st turn though, I don't remember this occurring after the 1st turn.
  7. Isn't the double intercept affected by supply? Or maybe it's strength? Fall below a certain level and you don't get two intercepts?
  8. The Jackboot should be marching in Paris before you know it. I am assuming you are playing Axis, so it will be even more of a walkover.
  9. I can just repeat my last post, except Gort is alone on the island. Edinburg is empty, didn't have enough oomph to get into the city this turn. No war in the east, I do have reasons, and not necessarily I fear a two front war (hint: I dread taking Pz I-B into Russia, but that has changed). Playing a dangerous game here, but adjusted accordingly, and won't make this very easy for my esteemed opponent. Chenchow was a close thing this turn, one or two extra hits would have cleared the city, but my Army is still under-performing. We pretty much relegate ourselves to flattening the Chinese economy with my bombers. Oil embargo, eh, would be nice to have the oil, but not hurting too much.
  10. August '41 More pushing up the Island, looks like all aircraft has left the land troopers to their fate. Blackshirts hit another minor for 2 points, medals will be awarded, posthumously. [China] Japs take a turn off.
  11. Hey, something had to happen to all the American Civil War rifles! And with 800,000 men per army, that is still a whole lot of firepower, like a wall of lead coming at you.
  12. Yes, gives me a reason to play a game vs the computer. Will get it to happen and send you a saved turn.
  13. Beginning of turn: Turkey likes Germany even more. July, 1941 No Fire in the East. Manchester falls, Churchill and Royals flee to Canada. Germany is even, yes, going to throw in the kitchen sink to finish this up. U-30 happens across the BB, Duke of York (strength 5), sends her to the bottom. We do not wait around to pick up survivors. Franco still denies me. All the Royal Air Force has fled to Africa. It is only a matter of time for the Blackshirts. {China} Just remember in China, Infantry Weapon 1 = Smooth Bore Rifles, and they are getting a lot of them. Which means, what are they going to do with all those Inf Weapon 0 rakes? Nothing else to report.
  14. June 8, 1941 Battleground: Britain: Gort will rue his decision to stay on the home island. It will fall, even it's the last thing I do! On the flip side, it might be the last thing I do. Leeb decides to secure the western flank and put the B.E.F. to work cleaning up the debris from all the shells we had to fire into the city. We decide BEF must mean British Expendable Force, and that does have a more catchy ring than Prisoner of War. I corps does hold Manchester.....barely. We move the Italian fighter north to scout, and sees the location of 7th Armor. We strafe their positions and get a hit. They retreated as a 2 (maybe 3), so they just barely hold on. Going to be pricey to fix that one up. British fighters run out of room on the island, so they rebase all the way to Ethiopia. {China} This is one of those turns where I want to bang my head on a brick wall. Everyone who plays any wargame will know what I mean. Every attack produced greater than expected losses for Japan, and less for China. Yes, even the 4 losses from the Expedition Army was below expected. I am hoping next turn or two to have a reversal on that. [World wide] As if the Italians don't have enough to be scared of, Ghurkas will now be in the war. India DOWs Germany and her allies. Britain is very appreciative for the manpower and especially the money. Intelligence indicates both USSR and USA have spent a lot on Research and Development, which means they are getting tech hits, and production is good. Both may not be true, but it looks that way to Axis intel. Franco resists all efforts to join the war. We have naked women serving him waffles and cigars, but he will not budge. I get a feeling he will join us right at the worst possible time.
  15. JJR, I hear ya, that's why we are Grognards, one little unit and we won't forget that for a long time. About stupidity, it worked out for Forrest Gump, there is hope.
  16. May 5, 1941 [Europa] 7th Armor was correct moving back, but 2 corps vanish into the hinterlands. 4th Infantry Army and Panzer Group Guderian brought to the island to help speed up the collapse and to hunt for Churchill. The fighters with nothing better to do shoot at Lancasters on their runways. In other news, 'Should I Stay or Should I Go Now?' the new chart topper in England. [China] Relentless fighter attacks have made all Chinese air retreat. Bombers keep a bombing. Ground pounders keep pounding. The increase in attacks combined with reduction of resources might put China in a bad position, soon! Chenchow on the verge of unhappiness. The corps in Nanning being very stubborn in resistance, China wants to hold that last port. Resistance in front of Chunking will be fierce.
  17. April, 1940 {Europe} Rain, rain go away, come back over Britain another day. Have to limit my attack to one spot. 10th Army disappoints and does not finish off a corps. Pretty much everything else is quiet. Some Russkies are coming up to the border. edit: Important point, British finally decide to cut supply to Abyssinia. What took so long? I am thinking paperwork problems. {China} Another corps (I think) dies, and Nanning takes some hits. Expedition Army keeps up the assault on Chengchow, whittling down some of the veterans defending. 2 bombers flatten the railways and supply depots of Chenchow. Elite forces do show up this turn.
  18. Just got home, couple things: above you have elite Japanese troopers deploying in the Pacific. Not yet, I think I get my 1st batch the turn I am going to play (April, 41). Smells of paradrop? Don't get the free one until next turn, I do believe. But yes, may have built one. Just pointing those out, because you should look at what the opponent gets and when. I say this, as I made the huge mistake in Britain of forgetting what turn it was, and the 7th armored showed up. Thought I had one more turn, and that cost me big time. Another mistake for both of us is giving the defender experience. I have done it way too much in China, there are 2 or 3 armies with 2 stars of xp. The Blackshirts in Ethiopia is a 2.5 star unit. Given enough time to get to them, we will kill them, but they are a pain in the rumpus for now. Enough summarization, going to download that turn and get back to the AAR. Ciao.
  19. Europa Snow, and plenty of it, on the ground, in the air. All forces stand down, time for a small break for R&R. Asia One more Chinese corps gone, elite troops attack Chengchow, causing three losses. No one else touches the city. Fighters attack 'Flying Tigers' while on the ground, Chinese fighters stay out of the way. Hit happen, no idea how much damage.
  20. January 19, 1941 Both the Formidable and Bulldog sunk. The BB in port moves to another port, I am guessing. The weather boffins are insidious and not to be trusted. Since I have clear skies, Hitler keeps on with the 'Stukas Over Britain' tour. Because of snow, many bombs land harmlessly for children to find later. Only moderate damage on land. Here's what I think he can see too, with his aircraft: Mediterranean Sea Knowing full well I would note the location of the carrier, he moves the rest of his navy into a protective position covering her position. The Italian Navy mistakenly tries to go after and sink the carrier, only to get hung up on Australian and British ships. Perth is listing, but not sunk. Barring rough waters, this should be a pounding of Italian fleets next turn. One is the lonliest number: [China] We move our most crack unit into position, the Expedition Army, next to Chengchow. Respect to my opponent if they can be dislodged from there. Just some more pings and pokes. Will have to watch some positions as the Chinese do have some punch.
  21. I am guessing new would be someone who made an account yesterday and comes on looking for a UFC matchup, and no one knows who he/she is. Most of us could truly use more human competition. This is where JJR accelerates over most anyone in this forum. Except for some buntas, he has quite a few public matches, going all the way back to SC1, methinks.
  22. The last days of 1940 {China} Pachinko and Dominos are the order of the day! Some casualties just like you would find in World War I, so nothing really to report. Med Sea Allied DD becomes a deep water home for some fish. One Italian cruiser and sub finish her off. We do pick up survivors, the captain was not one. North Sea Rolling more dice, I decide to try and use the weather to my advantage. The weather 'boffins' have promised a period of storms over Britain, so my subs decide to see who is home in the ports in the north. I find a BB and a DD, and luckily the BB is the reactionary force, so I take two hits on my sub. The rest of the wolf pack swarms in to shoot the BB up. He goes down to a 5, and I take about 6 hits on my subs. Hitler, realizing he still has rule set 1.02 in his hands fires his Rules Lawyer General and rereads 1.03. Well, it has to be somewhere, subs attacking ships in ports has been toned down quite a bit. It's a very good change, and I still would attack like I did, just a little surprised of the little damage done. Oops! Well, if the weather is clear, this might be ugly.Heck, depends how many DDs Crispy131313 has, not positive on that right now. Have to make some things happen, can't wait for the navy to come to me right now. Oh yes, the BB is sporting ASW 1.
  23. Britain and Japan tied for largest army at 27, Germany leads the worlds navies at 19, something just ain't right here. 11/24/1940 {Britain} Massive Stuka strikes with some army support take down another corps. Leeb finally lands to take control of the situation. Bad weather will be socking in soon. [China] Starting to feel impatient in China, but I look back to really how far the Japs reallly got. Really no solace as to where I should be in game, but let's me relax and tell myself to keep plugging along. Some difference from the previous screen shot, but not too much.
  24. Yes, I am feeling the pressure. If anyone bet the under, I think it might head that way. But, have to say also, very fun, and I won't throw in a towel until I am ko'd or in a submission. Next turn coming soon.
  25. Do you get money for USA from Forte du France? Just curious, I don't think there is any transaction, but may have changed in 1.03 We knock another corps down to 1 strength. Hoepner eliminates himself trying to finish it off (pre attack: 0 attacker, 1 defender, worked out to a 1-1 loss). Hungary and Romania both decide Germany is right, and sign up. Everything else is quiet in Europe. We weaken another corps in China, no losses though. The 1st Japanese bombers make their appearance, causing China 5MPP in losses.
