  1. better yet wait for the 1.9 demo it's bound to be good lmao well, don't also get smoke in your eyes because comparing your system is no guarantee of game performance. Your budget isn't the concern, really, it whether or not you can stand to pay 60 bucks for a buggy game and even more, be able to put up with it If it's the only game you bought/shall buy lmao, no offense but what kind of drugs are ya smoking and where can I get some lol This was the best year so far for games, you are sorely missing out by only playing this one-but that's your choice. or I can find out for free on the net and save 65 bucks lol...for real though, I mean, why would you even use that as a plus for buying the game.. In the end, the choice is yours, but I strongly suggest reading through all the support etc threads first and making a informed decision especially if you have a amd processor or/and ati card. well, going by past experience, I am still waiting for issues to be fixed in theater of war but I don't see any further updates for it so..... As the old saying goes FOOL ME ONCE, SHAME ON YOU! FOOL ME TWICE, SHAME ON ME! there won't be a third time [ August 20, 2007, 02:43 AM: Message edited by: KiloAlpha4 ]
  2. while it has some good points it has just as many weak/bad points. It also still has a lot of bugs that need fixing like inability to acquire weapons from red side infantry vehicles like the manual states etc...and the list goes on, but it is still a fun game regardless, I have to give it that. Not game of the year by any stretch of the imagination but playing a relatively good scenario will easily chew up a hour and a half of your time without you even noticing so the game is a bit engaging...except for some of the the cheesy campaign missions ( I call them rfl missions - which means really f*&^ing lazy lol to whoever made some of them ) in the campaign with like 2 houses and a wall lmao.. anyway I do believe the 65 dollar asking price is a wee bit high for what the game is though, it should be 35 bucks. Personally, for 65 bucks I expect a hell of a lot more for my money especially when compared to most other game releases. I bought it anyway, though I rightfully bitch about a beta release, they seem to be on top of the situation but I was really pissed off 2 see in theater of war screens of mortar crews and then not in the damn game and yet again for this game to see screens of mortar crews and yet again to get ripped off and them not to be in the game. I bet they too will be in the expansion which i yet again won't buy due to that very reason. [ August 20, 2007, 02:19 AM: Message edited by: KiloAlpha4 ]
  3. factory outlet battle was a killer on my system, lag-o-riffic, had to leave in the setup stage.
  4. sounds like a bug. Remember that even with the 1.2 patch the AI is FAR from perfect. [ August 20, 2007, 02:02 AM: Message edited by: KiloAlpha4 ]
  5. looks good...to post a image GDog first upload one to imageshack etc ( http://imageshack.us/ ) it will give you a link ( use the direct link to image url given at very bottom. then just use the image tags to post it on here as in the example below </font><blockquote>code:</font><hr /><pre style="font-size:x-small; font-family: monospace;"> </pre>
  6. pdf has all the information for the editor in it
  7. you guys keep up the map making also have to get around to trying some of them out myself...be looking for a tester or two in the near future when the campaign is completed....
  8. yes over 31 custom maps in the campaign...ambitious yes but doable some maps are max size allowed and units/environments etc all vary...don't want to give the campaign away so....
  9. nope sorry, currently working on a 31+ mission campaign
  10. I wasn't really surprised there was no water or bridges etc etc etc. It's just a very basic editor and very basic map objects, does the job but that's about it. The objects and maps really don't give you the immersion or feeling like the battles are taking place in Syria, the environment reminds me more of a tweaked second combat mission game but with some newer tanks. It actually sort of alienates the player I find but that's my view on it. If it survives another 2 months on my hard drive I will be surprised lol. Compared to a real map editor like coh's...there is no real comparison...and water in a map makes quite a impact all on it's own. [ August 13, 2007, 08:38 AM: Message edited by: KiloAlpha4 ]
  11. use the angled tiles/pieces although they don't always show properly in 3d view as the joints between angled and straight sections hardly ever line up properly.
  12. you don't need to bake a scenario for it to work and since you can't alter them afterward I wouldn't finalize any of mine so if I wanted to change something later down the road, the option is still open to me.
  13. you can put in wrecked vehicles from either side though using the purchase menu then adjusting their status but downed chopper, fighters , dead bodies etc and vehicles or what not would have been nice so would have fires to make burning buildings etc or dust devils and such.
  14. well cool, fkr lol but then again he has only the flavor objects I have all the editor objects so not a total waste of my time anyhow, editor isn't bad just wish there were more objects Oh and 3d mode placement would have been nice also rather then 2d. 15. I did a objects list helper thingy so I can see what objects are what without constantly having to jump back and forth from the map maker and the 3d view.It greatly increased my map making times. Anyone else wants this little guide here it is. In a html doc and easy to navigate quickly. download: http://savefile.com/files/965884 screens (nothing fancy just a pic list but get's the job done )
  16. O.K. I fixed the crash problem at least for me maybe it will work for you also. What I did was take out the catalyst control from my comp since the game for some reason doesn't like it and just installed the d river. I also switched my virtual ram from what it was set for to windows managed, both of which I never had to do for any other game btw, but thus far no more crashes every 5 to 10 minutes into the game and I get no crashes at all now from anything which is great. anyhow hope it works for ya's and happy hunting.
  17. so if I chuck in another open gl based game I will have the same exact issues right ? yes I am really getting sick of it also I point back to the post about the in depth testing prior to release also. besides, that is just one of the multiple probs though with the newer cards explain the older ati card crashes even with older drivers back from 2006.... Multiple problems exists period hopefully they will get it all fixed eventually.
  18. maybe they should have not made it opengl then if it has so many issues lol <---that's a fact btw and not opinion your right but spewing fiction as thought it was fact does not make it fact either I mean come on, you guys stated 4 ati bugs caused the issues but explain why those same bugs don't cause issues with any other games....if it's because it's a open gl game and not direct x then I refer you back to #1. Duck and cover boys, duck and cover lol As long as the issues are fixed great but the aggressive testing should have pointed out the flaws with the drivers/ati/opengl especially since the problem is with drivers from 06 also, i know I checked dif versions, and the newer cards...either way you look at it the "it's not our fault" defense is getting really old. Either way you look at it whether it is inadequate testing or buggy release it is still their fault 100% so for once at least admit it without always trying to point the finger somewhere else and for once admit a sloppy game release. That pisses us off more then anything even more then the bugs. Some of us on here are actual game beta testers and know the dif so give all the members on these boards some more credit. 19. I also am quite disappointed so far as well especially after TOW and now running into yet another bug plagued game release. I don't think making it real time was the problem, LOTS of other rts makers don't seem to have a problem doing both quite well. I think it is the need to have spent more time on the game period and using a much better and far more updated game engine, that is the problem and getting the bugs fixed before release not the release it now and fix it later attitude they seem to have adobted. It seems we are the beta testers so I can't see how they claim to have done such stringent testing with the game release having so many flaws unless the testers were blind with problems that stick out big time such as inadequate path finding for any unit or that tanks etc will not fire he at infantry etc. Also the screenshots showed mortar infantry in the game that somehow yet again as in tow got excluded from the release version. The mission editor is so short on any map building items that extremely limits what kind of maps you can make and your imagination to make them, I mean it is there but I have to say it is one of the worst mission/map editors I have seen to date. The game engine also cannot handle very many units especially with large maps which is another shortcoming of the game and if you place more then a few units for each side you can expect a lag fest and also for your infantry to look like stick figures. It's actually kind of amusing reminds me of sega genesis gaming way way back. Even with all that the game is fun I can't say it's not but the deployment of the game is unfortunately horrible atm. Hopefully somewhere in the next 6 months and 8 patches they will resolve the major issues. [ August 10, 2007, 05:05 AM: Message edited by: KiloAlpha4 ]
  20. I have the same exact problem crashes every 5 to 10 minutes and I have no dual core that's just a runaround excuse to me...seems battlefront can't make / get any ati compatible games anymore thus I will have to completely stop purchasing any from them and buy games from companies who can make a game that works with ati and not nvidia only that is now 2 new releases in a row with the same fraking problems, compatibility issues and major bugs....maybe if they actually properly beta tested with more then like 2 peeps with nvidia cards....can't blame us for being cheesed off about this stuff... The ATI issue is they can't make a game that works with ati obviously and since I have no issues with ANY other games with my ATI, and I can list them all from battlefield 1942 onward over the last 4 years then there is no obvious ati issue, I think it's more of a deflect the blame from battlefront and the makers issue...common sense people.. Please stop releasing beta stage software this is getting kind of ridiculous [ August 06, 2007, 08:35 PM: Message edited by: KiloAlpha4 ]
  21. lol mine crashes constantly usually within 5 minutes to 10 minutes of playing a mission. Maybe they shouldn't have made it open gl or whatever
  22. lol what's the explaination for the crazy crashes with win xp pro and not a new ati card then ? happy I tried the demo first this time hehe ps ALL software has bugs, even your guy's games so....
  23. ah here ya go a ctd, think any add ons for tow are out for me.
  24. ok 1 dumb question, the imfviewer, I assume I choose open with--> imfviewer to see those tga's and convert them with the imf header correct ? note that there is no instruction in the readme on how to use the IMFViewer app. thanks in advance...
  25. ah thanks guys much appreciated..is everything in this game backwards lol...Anyhow I already have the nvidia plugin but thanks again for the heads up and info. I thought I was having a blonde moment or something for a minute there... anyhow looking forward to doing some skins etc. have that from ya, thanks a lot will look for it [ July 11, 2007, 03:11 AM: Message edited by: KiloAlpha4 ]
