  1. I appreciate that the tools are there for us to make our own missions and whatnot, but the problem I have is I'm only really into the campaigns and you tend to get a lot less of them made by the community (for obvious reasons). Plus I prefer the longer campaigns (like the Road to Monteburg in CMBN). So number 1 on my wishlist is more and longer campaigns. I also agree with the suggestion of French, Italian and Polish forces. While more nationalities and formations of any sort would be great it'd be fun to play with some kit we haven't seen in CM before.
  2. This was the first scenario I tried after buying the game, and I've gotta say, its a really good one! SPOILERS . . . . . . . . . . . I killed most of the Russian vehicles in the centre and left by engaging them at point blank range with AT4s Knocked out 4 APCs using the 50 cals on my supply trucks. 10-15 minutes from the end I had ko'd all the enemy vehicles on my side of the river and suppressed or destroyed the enemy infantry on the bridge objectives using my remaining arty and choppers. I arranged my fresh(ish) Ukranians and their vehicles and launched a counterattack to retake the left and central bridges. 'Total victory on my first go at the game? Not bad!' I thought. 2 minutes later all my Ukranian mech units (except the squad HQ and its BMP), all but 1 of my trucks, and the US mortar team were dead, courtesy of a late but extremely effective series of attacks from Russian attack helicopters. Failing to retake the objectives and losing a 1/3 of my force in the last couple of minutes meant I ended up with a draw. Game of the Year.
  3. Yeah if there were fireflies about I would've kept it well hidden, but the 75s and 76s the yank armour was carrying didn't worry me. That said, other threads here have suggested that KTs can be quite vulnerable to losing their main gun to direct hits from some of the weaker Allied AT weapons, so I'll have to be careful in the rest of the missions of the campaign.
  4. IIRC (its been a while since I did it) I used demo charges to get the KT out of its starting field, then reversed it back along the main road. I figured as it was virtually indestructible from the front it would be a risk worth taking. Given the amount of hits that it shrugged off, and Shermans it took out, it was a gamble that paid off.
  5. Yeah, Kampfgruppe Engel and Tiger Poaching in particular really are fantastic. As much as I enjoy the straightforward attack/defend missions, breaking them up with the odd fluid battle like this one is great. You have to make some tough decisions as to which forces to push to the tiger with (and how fast) and tactical withdrawl missions are always real nailbiters - you have to inflict as many casualties as possible, but leaving units in place for even a few seconds too long can lead to their destruction. Great fun. I managed to do pretty well on this mission, but I was super lucky. I pushed hard for the tiger with both PzIVs, a Panther and a support halftrack backing up a platoon of inf and what was left of my pioneers. I withdrew them under a smokescreen, but it cleared up sooner than I anticipated and my Panther found itself less than 50m away from a full platoon of Shermans, all of which it managed to KO suffering only a damaged track and radio. I parked the same Panther further back where it KOd a few more tanks before getting knocked out right at the end - it must have taken at least a dozen direct hits, but they kept pinging off the armour, giving me enough time to get lots of men to the exit zone. Like I said, a reeeeal nailbiter.
  6. Eventually I just re-installed the game and that seemed to fix the problem. Kind of a pain in the neck, but uninstalling doesnt delete your saved games so you might as well give that a go.
  7. Soooo, I after having a crack at the Marines campaign I decided to go back and restart the TF Thunder campaign, as I never got round to finishing it. Now I'm on the second mission, and I've noticed that the Red forces are deployed in really odd places, mainly a few meters forward of where you'd expect them to be. For example, during Breakthrough at the Berm several (not all but most) of the Red forces started in front of their trenches. Likewise, some of the troops i'd expect to be in the buildings in the centre of the map were situated in front of the buildings, in the open desert. I did'nt think much of it until I got to the second mission and a similar thing has happened again. None of the units I've spotted so far are actually inside the buildings, they're all out in open spaces. Naturally, this is making things perhaps a little too easy for my troops. This didn't happen during my first go at TF Thunder (waaaaay back in 1.2 I think) and it didn't happen when I played Marines recently. I'm all patched up to date. Any ideas what's up? Apologies if this has been posted before!
  8. Yeah, this US marines business is all well and good (getting it for sure), but what im really looking forward to is a British campaign.
  9. This happened to me in one of the tutorials. The team was set up, but the gun itself was about 100m below and to the right of the map.
  10. Generally, yes. I think I'll like it even more in the future when patches/addons and user made missions start appearing.
