  1. At minimum AI should be able to fight at static positions on it's own. It should do the following without separate orders: - Seek cover when under fire - Pick up ammo and weapons from nearby bodies (if needed) - Fall back towards cover if taking lot's of casualties - Surrender if it just gets too much It sounds like a serious design flaw if the player is expected to be acting as each and every soldier on the battlefield.
  2. If it takes just few more weeks to get everything together with the editor then I'll rather wait than rush and get everything in one big update.
  3. I think it would not matter to wait a while longer (since it has been already months)in order to include the quick battle editor.

    patch?

That's sad to hear, but as a tester you have some rules to follow. I did testing with CMBB and got the CD and manual as a reward. (Which I still play today )
  5. Played a CMBB mission today. German attack vs. Russian defence in 1942. Mortars, tanks and men did their job very well. The game ended up in major Axis victory. Mortars were essential to this victory both providing smoke screen and pinning down and routing enemy strong points. What wonders me most in ToW is man to tank ratio. There seems to be a very large number of tanks and very little infantry. Some obvious weapons of the era are also missing. Looking back -> ToW was supposed to be a realtime strategy game, but Company of Heroes got there first and stole the show. 1C lost their publishers. The ToW was then moved to BF and was converted into a real tactical game. I guess that all this moving back and worth between genres shows in the end result. Somehow ToW has been a victim of "almost but not quite there" syndrome. Addon and patching can help to smooth the rough edges that came from the RTS inheritance. patch?

Considering what BF said on the other thread it won't be out in weeks. Unless they are bluffing and plan to pull out a surprise.
  7. Considering ToW's long history it has been plagued with huge delays and lack of information. How many years it was under developement? When it finally came out it turned not to be a show stopper it was said to be. Now more or less the same seems to continue with patching. I'm afraid that even if addons and patching turns out to be ok and nice improvements are introduced many of the potential customers have faded away a long time ago.
  8. I believe it after I see it ToW has always been a game of big promises and long delays. But let's hope for the best.
  9. After so many negative comments and some bad experiences with the demo I have not played the game. It is gathering dust among the old games. We are still playing games of CMAK and CMBB and having good time, even that the graphics are already really outdated. Lets see what the patch brings. Maybe I'll get started with it.
  10. Sounds like real a mess... Wasn't the engine supposed to be easy to upgrade, adapt and maintain in the first place?
  11. More about post (and WWII) conflicts: - None of the post WWII era conflicts have been fought with the same brutal mentality and determination as for example Barbarossa was. It could only end in the total destruction of the other nation - by any means available. They managed to kill tens of millions without nuclear weapons. It is hard to comprehend the scale of fighting that took place on the Eastern front. Compared to it Pacific theatre was a small fart. [ December 19, 2007, 01:01 PM: Message edited by: track ]
  12. In my mind this translates into: " Recent modern conflicts are not comparable to WWII". A comparable all out modern war would be EU vs. USA or Russia vs. EU or USA.
  13. It is obvious that one usually gets "blinded" to his or her own work after spending so many hours with it. Give testers their time. It is better to a have a working patch released a bit late rather than one that does not work or creates some new issues.
  14. Unless it in it's current state causes more problems than it fixes. In which case I'm ready to wait for a month or how long it takes.
  15. Nice to see that I'm not entirely alone with my ideas about the next theatre. The only Korean conflict computer game that I can recall is Mig Alley Ace and that's ancient history. Korea or early Blizkrieg in the west and I would be a very happy gamer.
