  1. I see that I'm not the only one interested in the field ;-) @ Gurra: you're right: static grass spreading can be a real zen activity. I watched your pics, and I have to admit my ignorance: I was not able to find the mistake. But I have to admit that I have not even the 10% of the knowledge about armor of the average grognard here. I agree with you: invigorates interest in building models of the machines and vice versa. I build only models from WWII, for the same reason that I enjoy CM1 and not too much Shock Force: WWII is a "far away" war (but still "modern") and it is in no way connected with actual conflicts... I don't feel comfortable when I have to deal with things "too real" if related with war. I build and planes and tanks: the plane in 1/72 and 1/48 scale, the tanks in 1/35. I like very much to build the very cheap Airfix kits that I builded when I was a kid, trying to replicate them with a little bit more skill. Here a couple of my model: a 1/72 PBY Catalina, from an Academy Kit. And -a little bit out of theme, because from WWI, a MK IV Male tank, from a Russian kit Ehmar. Nothing special... I build my models just to spend in a relaxing way some time, not for competitions ;-) I just finished a T34 but I still have to shoot some pics at it... I will try to post them later. Thanks to all for the answers
  2. Greetings! First excuse me if I'm out of topic. I was just wondering how many people here, in our beloved forum of WWII grognards, are doing plastic modeling of WWII tanks, planes, etc. I'm ready to bet that I am not the only one... If yes, what do you model usually? How do you enjoy this hobby?
  3. amazin job! The merging between old and new building is just perfect: this mean a perfect job during the shooting phase. They are just incredible. Thanks for sharing.
  4. As a general indication, you can doo some test with the LOS tool: with you squad in the woods, trace a line with the LOS tool in the direction of your opponent squad. Pay attention when the line change from blue to red, and measure the distance to that point. Then, just for safety add some more meters. In fact it is not the same distance each time: many factors affect it, from the time to the weather conditions, to the "stealth ability" of your squad, to the setting they have (hidden or not), etc. With the LOS tool you can make test with the different conditions
  5. Combat Mission: Liberty Day or Combat Mission: Liberty Days
  6. I'm guessing if at the strategic level, and with NO consideration for any kind of graphics, is possible any comparison with the classic Harpoon. Since long time I'm looking for a good strategy naval game (I'm not interested in taking control of the crew), with no results, and maybe this can be the right chance.
  7. Anybody knows a good naval warfare game Harpoon style, but not so old?
  8. The last AAR that I read was for CMBB (in that forum section), just some months ago, by Tux and.... (sorry I don't remember the other player's name).
  9. Thanks guys for your long support to the community
  10. Eden, to get a more "balanced" game, usually I use a mix of random troops and selected troops. This is my procedure: 1) In the scenario editor, I generate a new map, and I buy the units that I want that my side and enemy side has (let say: 200 points of armors for a side and 200 (or 100 or wathever you like) points of "antitank" troops for the opposite side. 2) Then I go in the QB editor, I set my parameters about point, random selected troops and so on. 3) When I reach the moment to generate the terrain, I select Import map, and I select the map previously created. 4) The QB will generate a game, on that maps; it will ADD to your previously selected troops his random troops: so if you choose in the QB editor 500 points, and in the imported map you have 200 point troops for the Germans, now Germans will have roughly 700 points. It's not a pefect solution, nut it can spicy a little the game.
  11. I always did in the same way with no problem... Are you sure that you unzipped the file? Extensione for battles is *.cme, and folder name is scenarios
  12. Greetings, I'm sure it's my fault, but this is my problem: I tryed to log-in in the new repository; I used what I believe to be my username and password that I use in the forum (but I am not sure at 100% that the password is correct, since it is stored in the browser since long time ago), and I got the classic error wrong username or pw. So I decided to go for a new registration, from the repository page, and this time I got this error message: This e-mail is already registered. If you forgot the password click on "Lost your Password" and a new password will be sent to you. My problem is that I cannot see the "Lost your password" button to have sent the new password, and so I am in a stall situation. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance
  13. Hi Moon, I think your proposal is very reasonable: a good mix/compromise in between BF business and community "desiderata" (wishes). The only doubt, because I don't remember average size of Mod Pack, is about the 10 Mb size (quiet enough for scenarios), but you already underlined that this amount is not yet really defined (needing some firsthand experience first). Even tough I am not an "uploader" (never uploaded a scenario or a mod), if I can give a suggestion, is to find some way to award the people that is uploading more valuable items: something like "you uploaded xxx items; these items were rated very good by the community; so you will earn some yyy extra Mb if you are not a "paying" user" (this is just the rough idea... you can find some best algorithm to perfect it). In this way there will be some incentive for the virtuos people that shared with us "lazy" users their efforts in these years. All the best
  14. Hi Steve, I read with great interest what you wrote about the equations governing the game. Since I'm a Physics student, I was curious to know if in the code (i.e. ballistic) do you use differential equations (in the "original" form with derivative e/or differentials) or just theyr solutions form (non differential equations, coming aout from differential equations, like the first law of kinematics in the form x = x(0) + V(0)t + 1/2(a t^2), that coume out from its differential form). When you wrote "there are a lot of equations going on under the hood of CM that don't translate well into predictable numbers" I was thinking just to differential equations...
