I think this is the most important question that needs answering. Will the raid force Syria to put a tighter lid on the insurgents operation, or did it piss them off enough to help the insurgents even more openly, if only just to stick it to the US?
I remember a particular sketch of a ragged soldier kneeling around fallen comrades, cigarette packs tied around his helmet, bayonetted M-16s laying around or stuck to mark a shallow grave with the word "WHY" hung above his head. I often saw it printed on T-shirts.
