  1. Hi again, Regarding getting your infantry to re-enter their APC. I must be thicker than most. I did what I was told - plot squad move path, with cursor over the vehicle so the cursor arrow pointed down, and left click. Same result every time. The squad moves to the APC and deploys all around it. No way am I going to get that squad to enter the vehicle. And while I am at it, in the setup phase, how do you place your squads/vehicles where you want them in the deployment area? Help would be much appreciated. I am not a newcomer, I have been playing computer based wargames all my adult life. regards sunray1
  2. Hi, I didn't want to create a new thread just for this. While you are discussing dismouting from vehicles, I must be a bit thicker than most, but how do you get troops to re-mount their vehicles? This has been really bugging me. regards sunray1
  3. ClaytoniousRex, Roger. Confirmed and understood. The final graphics will be interesting to see. All the best in your work. regards sunray
  4. Hi All, I agree "gameplay first and looks second". But I also agree about the graphics. In this day and age, with the power of the chipsets and graphics cards that are available, there is no reason to not have good graphics as well as good gameplay. I am a dedicated realtime tactical wargamer, but I also love good graphics. So much so, that if a game does not have a goodly amount of both, I will probably not buy it. So what you say, go and play something else. Point is, wargamers are becoming more discerning. I want it all. And there are a lot more out there like me. Inject some colour (camo), and give the vehicles good definition/detail, and you will have even more of a winner. After all, we talk about using real physics etc, look at the camo schemes that real armies use, in real life. It is definitely not my intent to be negative. Just trying to offer some constructive help. regards sunray
  5. Hey, come on you guys. We want infantry!! It is not a complete tactical game without infantry. Or quite believable, for that matter. They are what is missing in all those vehicle only games. It's like having a war without weapons. All us realtime wargamers won't be happy you know..... On another note, I just finished viewing the summer screenshot bonanza for Drop Team. I know the game is far from finished, and I don't want to be critical at this stage, but those vehicles reminded me of some very early screenshots I saw from Steel Beasts. I sincerely hope they are going to be much more detailed, camoed, and generally polished before they become final. regards sunray
  6. WimpBastard, I think the models you suggest are an excellent choice. Thick, advanced and lightweight body armour, along with helmets that protect and are equipped with coms/targeting devices, are essential. Couple this with a mixture of advanced, and compact personal weaponry, and heavier squad/platoon based weapons, and you have exactly what you have shown us. The ideal futuristic armoured infantryman. Having some power suited heavy infantry is probably a good idea, but if they get too big, they simply look like “walkers” (mechs). Then they no longer assume the role of infantry, and fall into the category of vehicles. I see your ideas, including your suggestions for a pressurised suit look, as the ideal solution for the standard (although futuristic) infantry grunt. regards sunray

    Camouflage

Gen. Lee Annoying, Agreed, first and foremost is the gameplay. But I want it all. Good gameplay, and good graphics. And with the computing power available to us these days, why shouldn't we have it all? And in my books the good graphics add to the atmosphere. Good vehicle camo schemes, and detailing, are part of the games appeal. I can name several futuristic armour games from the past (one was actually called Armour Command) whose unit graphics were quite bland and uninteresting. They certainly didn't do anything for the appeal of the game. That was a number of years ago, and I think we have come quite a long way since then with computer power. Anyway, if the developers don't want to take the time to create those mickey mouse skins, I'm sure there are a number of modders out there who are quite willing to produce a batch of quite stunning skins for us to use. As long as they are helped with the right tools to do the job. regards sunray

    Infantry

Gen. Lee Annoying, Thanks for the tip. I didn't think to enable earlier threads, I thought that what I saw was all that existed. Put my foot in my mouth with my second post. How cool is that? Now that I have read the other threads on infantry, I am somewhat encouraged that they will be added at some time (squads even). So thanks again. I will be coming to this forum frequently, to check the latest. My main interest is on the Histwar forum. regards sunray

    Camouflage

Hi, I know it is only early days yet for this game, but one thing that has crossed my mind while looking at the available unit models/screenshots, is that they all have that metallic colouring, no matter what terrain they are currently on. Is there any plan to have camouflage colour schemes on the vehicles? Surely, on the battlefield of the future, technology will be available to equip military vehicles with some form of reactive/programmable coating that will allow them to blend in with the terrain they are currently traversing. And, as an extension of this concept, will the vehicles have a high level of detail/pneumatics displayed, that will make them truly come to life, and look real? regards sunray

    Infantry

Hi, I’m new to this games section of the forum. I thought I would try and find out more about Drop Team. I know that in your overview, and several other places, you talk about armoured combat in the future. So obviously much of the action is vehicle based, if not all. But you also show, in your vehicles section, a unit for carrying a number of armoured infantry. And, in at least one of your responses on this forum, you mention that you believe that the battlefields of the future will always require the presence of infantry. So I live in extreme hope that there will be infantry present in this game. Games that are purely based on vehicles tend to leave me somewhat cold, because they immediately loose that element of realism. Please tell me that there will be infantry, and they will be geared up with all the technology and trappings that go with the infantry of the future. And they will definitely not be those cop out metal droid stick men with lasers, that game developers seem to think are a compulsory component for a futuristic game. Infantry also add an extra level of realistic tactics to a game. The game looks really promising from what I have already seen. Keep up the good work. regards sunray
