  1. I believe Sergei is saying that Baneman should be banned becuase he's sturmelon, stukapalooka, lewis, and many others reincarnated.
  2. The best thing about a man is his dog. - A Dutch proverb My condolences.
  3. @Liam: The stalker bit was a joke. I'm no Euro, in another SC thread I'm defending America from a pack of bickering Belgians. I just try to take a more moderate view than some other people. (moderate does not equal liberal) America is still the arsenal of democracy, but the truth is few people still care. They'll care when they get bushwhacked by some fundementalists, but until then they will view us as extreme in our methods of national defence.
  4. @Liam: Just out of curiosity. If you are an ex-stalker, aren't you mandated by law to notify those you contact beforehand? And for everyone on this thread and the others: loose stool=diarrhea. I hope I spelled that right.

I knew it would come to this. Canada is now the standard to which all other countries are measured. [ August 14, 2005, 06:42 PM: Message edited by: stoat ]
  6. Best thing about slaves; you don't need to feed them much. If they die, you just get more. They are a renewable resource. How exactly would you go about this? Would slave labor be considered part of industrial technology, or would there be another way to apply labor to burying your resources?
  7. I agree. I don't know how many different walls there will be, but I would like to see a good number more, each with various heights and thicknesses. I would also like to see wooden fence sections destroyed by artillery or other HE shells so that infantry can move through it unimpeded, or forming choke points, depending on your point of view.

  9. My 150s remain stationary. If the enemy can take it out, bummer. If he can't, then my gun can fire every turn without movement and setup delays.
  10. Try to tone down the redderick, would ya? You bring up a few valid points but mostly skewed statements that can only be made by one not actually in America. The majority of fatalities in traffic accidents come from collisions involving drunk drivers. Want to know how to fix that? Let teenagers drink as much alcohol as they want. The fat kids, well, you got us there. All I can say is that I'm not fat, my friends aren't fat, and people who are should do something other than sue. Preferably something that burns calories. My grandfather died from emphysema and you know what he got from the tobacco companies? Jack squat. He had respiratory therapy for the last 15 years of his life. Vietnam? Right cause, wrong strategy. When we sent into Korea to stop the spread of Communism did Belgium protest? No. THEY SENT TROOPS! Nam was a war that could have been won had it been fought properly from the beginning. Iraq? Not nukes, but biologicals and chemicals. That all does seem very shaky now, and you can bet something like that won't happen again without much more solid proof. I do believe Iraq will be much better off in the long run without Saddam, and Iraq is not "ours". Its Iraqi, and we buy the oil, just like every other country, including Belgium.

@Qyusson: Feeling self-righteous are we? I believe what you just described: a nice place with family and friends, a good job, a great culture, a sense of pride can be summed up as this: The American way of life.
  12. At the other end of a butt kicking there is always someone getting their butt kicked. I find that some of the times when I enjoy the game the most are when I am hopelessly outnumbered and just waiting to be overrun. It is these against-all-odds scenarios where you realize the true values of interlocking fire, hull down positions, and proper mortar positioning. I wish more people would see the virtue in organizing a defense to inflict 5 to 1 casualties and the lessons that this teaches you that you can use on the offenseive.
  13. Could this just be a case of refusing to admit that your weapons technology is inadequate because it would take to long to retool your industries to produce something that worked? Much like the British 2 pounder, there may have been too many Stukas already in service to declare them obsolete( at least as tank-hunters), and thus combat units struggled along with inferior equipment. In the case of the Germans, when a designated tank hunting airframe was ready for production, even if they produced many planes, it was to late to turn the tide and air superiority had long been lost.
  14. I agree that the US is increasingly unpopular in Central and South America, but what are you thinking? Giving Iran the bomb will solve nothing. First Iran, then Syria, Jordan, Libya Morocco. And you think America is destabilizing the Middle East. When you were listing countries on your poopy list for now or once having empires, you left out a few: ALL OF WESTERN EUROPE! AND RUSSIA AND TURKEY AND AUSTRIA-HUNGARY. Every country with any kind of power at any point in history could not help itself but to influence everyone that they possibly could. America has seen what happens when we dictate to countries, just look at how our development of China backfired and led to the rise of communism. Spreading nukes around only makes global diplomacy harder because suddenly everyone gets concessions because they have a finger on the button. You're just mad because Canada doesn't have nukes or any global influence to speak of since you left the British empire.
  15. I was bored this morning and I did test it out. MG-34, -42, -34LMG, US .30, and US .50 all removed jam while hiding.
  16. Look at it another way. When they stick their heads up to fire on your infantry, they are exposing themselves to the AFVs. Take your time and use these weapons to destroy the enemy infantry position by position.
  17. Yes JJR, we know about the murder of the sleeping farmers, their wives, the old ladies, the invalids, the mentally challenged, the mimes. But we're not just talking about SS Totenkopf or Polizei. The German military machine was a great spectacle at its zenith and it just about brought Europe to its knees. Are you going to suggest the Tiger tank is so highly reveered in history because it was best suited to crushing sleeping infants? The Wermacht could have taken any army in the world 1v1 and probably 1v3. They failed because they got to greedy and went after things there was no way they could have. German generals were not all Nazis. Sorry for the brief mention of politics, but saying that is like saying every American general was a Democrat. The Nazis were a political party! Not everyone belonged to that party just like every Russian soldier in WWII was not a Communist.
  18. The US 37mm did fire a canister round and they were used by Stuarts, Greyhounds, and 37mm ATGs. The Japanese developed various forms of canister shells, the largest being an 18in. AA shell fired by Yamato class BBs. These are, of course, outside the scope of CM. There may have been other canister-firing guns in WWII but all that I could find have already been mentioned in this thread.
  19. Stop dropping the F-bomb, there are children around. Someone please lock this thread.
  20. A few more posts like this and you may well have a heart attack. While historical accuracy is a very large part of designing war games I'm sure that a game based on a war between federated states would not drum up as much interest. I in no way wish to trivialize the tradgedies that occured in the Balkan region, and I'm sure that the designers don't wish to either, but the game is not about genocide, it's about tank warfare. Playing a computer game does not mean that you support genocide or mass murder unless the game is "Gas Chamber: a romp in the Final Solution" or some such.
  21. When stealing becomes acceptable, the terrorists win. Seriously, if shoplifting and cattle rustling are looked upon as unacceptable behavior, what makes illegal downloading alright? Some games are flaming piles of poo, and you don't find out until you buy and play it(I'm am in no way comparing T-72 to a pile of poo, flaming or otherwise). You just have to take that risk and decide for yourself if you want to spend the money on an unproven product. If you think theft is no big deal, I suggest you become aquainted with the forums of the Cook County State Penitentiary, because you have a personaltiy flaw that may very well plant you there.
  22. Well, unless Norway is an Axis country(very unlikely), if Russian troops secure Norway it is considered "liberated" and not "captured" and Allied minors give their MPPs to Britain. There is no way for Russia to use those points. If you want Russia to get MPPs from Norway you will have to take all assets except Oslo, thus making Norway "occupied by Allies" and not "liberated".
