  1. CMBB and we both have the same patch. Each of us has a retail version. My friend hosts the game and I can play. He does not have a router but goes from his computer to a cable modem. When I've tried to host, he says the game starts to download and then is gone. The same thing happens when I try to host with another guy; he says the same thing happens, but I can play when he hosts.
  2. I'm trying to host a TCP/IP game but it's not working. Here's what happens: my opponent starts the game at his end and the game starts to download and then stops. Any ideas?
  3. Yes, he's a friend and the issue isn't cheating. It's how can this occur? Either the game in its infinite electronic variety threw out these wacky numbers or there's some kind of bug. I'm wondering if anyone has come across this kind of anomaly before? The game wasn't via email but TCP/IP.
  4. Handicap was set to None; I'll have to ask my opponent about casualties, the game originated on his computer.
  5. I played a quick battle last night that was an axis assault in Finland in 1942. I was axis. As you all know, for an assault, the defense is typically greatly limited. The limit for troops is 198; but this morning when I looked over the map after the game, my opponent had a whole Pioneer battalion that costs 352 regular, 298 green, and 244 conscript; I don’t understand how he was able to do that. He had a green 203 mm arty spotter that goes for 203; the limit for arty is 114; how was he able to do that? He had 4 regular 57 mm AT guns that cost 67; the limit for Support is 119; how was he able to do that? The briefing says Rarity was set to None and Quality was set to Unrestricted; when I try to set up a new axis assault in Finland in 1942 (using all the settings from the Briefing) to see how he was able to get the forces he got, I see my numbers the same for buying forces and allied numbers similar to the limits above so I’m puzzled as to how he was able to get the forces he did. What am I not seeing? The only thing I can come up with is that there's a bug that made the game appear as an attack to my opponent (that would allow him to purchase the forces he did) and an assault to me.
  6. I seem to remember playing games where the pioneers would spot mines before I brought armour up. Lately, however, they don't seem to be discovering the mines; do engineers have the ability to discover mines?
  7. I started to play Quick battles recently where all the parameters are set to Random except for troop quality which is set to High and where we let the computer select the forces. Last night I played a Meeting Engagement where several of my tanks had guns of 45 mm while most where 20 mm; so did most of my opponents but I noticed one Panzer with a 75 mm gun. That caused me to play a cautious game that I ended up loosing. I saw the 75 mm tank for about 6 moves; in conversing with my opponent at the end he said he had no tank higher than 50 mm, and in fact, it was a 37 mm tank. This happened in an earlier game where I saw a tank with 122 mm guns that later I learned was a T-34. In many games previously, this had never occurred. It started only when we went to random selection and computer selection of troops. Why does this happen? Is it supposed to simulate battlefield intelligence?
  8. Is there a way to select a map before a quick battle to determine what kind of forces to use?
  9. I've had success with this command and enjoy using it. My experience is that you have to be fairly close to the tank; like hiding in rubble when a tank passes by; close enough so the tank cannot get its guns on you. If you cannot get to the tank in less than about 10-15 seconds it doesn't work to well. Kind of like in that movie with Tom Hanks and the guys are practically underneath the tank when they attack it.
  10. I tried to post this earlier. Last night I played a quick 20-move game (Oct 44 Allied Assault, South). It was a small map with trees and hills. I was defending as Axis 4 flags: 100 pt and 300 pt on left on hills and two 300 points on right side with one up front in the open and one in the rear in pines. I choose to defend with two Pioneer platoons, 2 heavy machine guns, about 24 anti-tank mines, and about 10 barbed-wires. My opponent had a 122 mm bombardment, 3 heavy tanks, 1 BA-6, and a lot of infantry. My opponent tried to get at my position on my left from about move 10 to 15 with infantry and couldn’t do much because of machine gun fire and barbed wire; no incursion there. At about move 15 his tanks started to move in on my right side towards the 300 pt flag in the open. One tank was immobilized and one abandoned at the mine fields. One tank and the BA-6 made it through. From move 16 to move 20 his infantry on my left was stopped by barbed wire and machine guns. On my right, his tank, BA-6, and infantry headed towards the 300 pt flag in the open. At move 20 he had made no progress on the right side and on the left he had the BA-6 destroyed, and the remaining tank and infantry at the 300 pt flag in the open. My score showed 57% to 44% in my favor. The closest he was to the other 3 flags was about 130 meters. But the result was a draw and I’m trying to figure out why. Tally at the end for the Axis was 106 Men OK, 20 Total Casualties, 5 Men Killed, 700 flag points, 309 enemy casualties. Allied tally was 193 Men OK, 42 Total Casualties, 10 Men Killed, 2 Vehicles Destroyed, 300 flag points, 527 enemy casualties, and 67 Prisoners Taken. Program said a 53% to 47% draw. I’m puzzled by the draw; I held 3 flags comfortably meaning no enemy was even close. Could it be the presence of tanks on his side, one immobilized and one near a flag?
  11. I'm on broadband with a Linksys router and cannot host a game. I've tried opening the port as well as configuring my router with DMZ but still my opponent cannot see my games. One thing I wonder about is that the address that I end up with (something like 198.152.1.111) seems to be too common; should I be putting my machine's MAC address in the router? Any clues?
