  1. I assume round one is over and you all have moved on. How did you like or not like the Scenario I provided for round one. I always like feed back as to what I work on. This scenario was one I had done for another event, So I modified it to make it somewhat new and also to make it work better for the Tournament requirements that they needed.
  2. Since cm is not perfect as to if the unit can see or not see out of the woods, the easy answer is. When its time to spring the attack. move the units forward just out of the woods and the issue is solved. And since there is no spotting penetly for the moving unit, it clears up most of the issues here. And no, cm does not have anything built in it presently for making it harder to spot something that is covered in shadows or has its outline blocked by vegetation hidding its outline. So no it will not give them type of advantages that would be there in real world spotting.
  3. When is someone going to point out CM has a program switch that once you complain enough on the forum. they activate the switch on that gamers program which adds unpredictable events in their game just to irritate them all the more. We can see who has had their switch activated here.
  4. We live in a time where cloning appears to be happening, I say, lets get a "Go fund me" started. What should we say. I think we need a minimum of 3 more Charles for the first batch. see how they work out and then go from there. Not sure if it matters if they are "In the Jar" version or not!
  5. They would work together in real life. When one is observing with bino's, the other two are providing him security. This is practices that have been around from the WWII period and you just have not ever come across any information to let you kwow of such practices. We are trying to give you insight that these are formations that are real and why they have such units attached to them.
  6. Ok, actually, that is a very good scouting team. Scouting teams, just like anything else can be assigned different type of Missions Examples. Locate enemy troop locations Forward Observation post to report on enemy unit movement Arty FO post for calling in arty. Killing of High value targets behind enemy lines. Support of friendly lines - normally on an avanue of approach that you are not guarding with main line troops. In general, these type of teams are not to engage in direct combat. but if they do. The sniper would be the unit to use at range where they can kill the enemy, but in all likelyhood not receive any accurate return fire. Example, team is guarding a flank position with wire and mines in open fields, likely approach the enemy is not likely to use. A enemy scouting team is trying to move through this area. A perfect situation where this team could be allowed to fire at say 350 to 400 yards. Possible kill or at least pin the unit in place and suffer no losses. The two smg's are a good asset for the fact that this team is called on missions where they have no support generally. They dont want to get into firefights on most missions. But the fact is, they might run into the enemy or be ambushed by the enemy since they are to be used for scouting purposes. So those two guns give them a fighting chance in such a situation. nothing more. Modern teams still use the same concept. They have some method to reach out and kill if needed. Normally this is calling in heavy support, but are packing firepower for a up close and personal mishaps
  7. Some great advice has been given. And as we all have had to learn we were not great leaders when we started playing the game, All those skills we think we have until this game proves us wrong early on. Spoken as someone that also was a excellent ASL player and found it lacked a lot of the skills needed to be of help in this game. Also an ex-marine, which helped me much more at playing this game but I still had to learn to apply many things I had been taught but had never really used in real life, but to some extent, I do get to use in the game. So be patient and start trying to learn from your mistakes, and yes , you are not using your armor correctly. Never play with the concept that your steel is your defence and you invincible and that will help you alot. It does not matter you have that advantage, use tactics that dont require seeing rounds bounce off your armor. Set up a test map. make markers on it at 400, 600, 800, 1000 yards then select the tanks you want to test against each other and run the test a few times at each range. I set up 5 or 10 tanks on each side, I have maps that have lanes so each tank can only see one enemy tank. Anyway, you will get results very quickly as to the odds and the distances that are effective. And in truth the numbers are very realistic to real world results. Not only will you learn what to expect, but you will also know when you have had a unlucky result because of the results.
  8. Oh, I think if people could make a little money on the side selling Scenarios, I think it would add to the amount of content out there. Not sure it would be good content, but it for sure would motivate some. And soon enough, people would figure out who is making good stuff. I am sitting on 20 Tournament scenarios I have created right now, never posted for general use because I have not wanted to sit down and program AI plans for them. But If I knew there was a payoff for doing it. I think it would make a difference.
  9. Spoken from someone that has no clue what it takes to get all the details correct. It is clear the they make great efforts to get things right. But in the real world, and with all the massive amount of data that these games require, yes, you are correct, a few things are wrong and incorrect. But that attitude that if perfection isnt there, you have the right to act and say they have made no real efforts. Go fix yourself and your attitude, because there is way more imperfection there that what you see in these games.
  10. Before you buy CMBS, I would suggest CMSF2, you will get more content. ALl Sf1 scenarios are playable also. But both have their plus and minuses. I have enjoyed them both and in general I like all three periods over the WWII stuff now.
  11. sign ups are closed. But We did pick up new players that joined the forum, so they likely heard about it from here or maybe steam. 24 players with some of the best out there participating in it. If you wanted to see how you do against top players and did not join, your loss. It will be approx. a year before the next one. ( maybe CMX3 by then) woundnt that be great
  12. Or is it for the simple fact, there is no way to see where one is going by driving backwards. The driver is on his own to get out of there it appears, the commander at no point shows up as to the fact the reversing was going to be a option.
  13. Time is running out if you are thinking of joining. Game files were just sent out to those players that are signed up. I will still invite and sign up new players for a short period.
  14. We have 20 participants presently, you have approx. a week left to join if you are thinking about it. Match ups for those already signed up will be posted in a few days
  15. When creating scenarios, not only can you maniputate forces you are allowed to select by changing (who is fighting who) as mentioned here, Which I have done multible times. but You can also change the date of a scenario to select forces available from another date period and then change it back to the present date you are wanting to use.
  16. Posting this now, likely start date will be Christmas or the New years. Its a tournament that has you playing 5 (approx. 30 minute scenarios) that no one has seen or played before and which they cannot access the files (so truly blind). The tournament has lasted 9 to 11 months in the past. The battles can be very challenging and you likely might be using units you would not see in QB format games.Three battles are ready at this point and I can say, two of them could be nighmares for some players. So if you are ready for a real challenge, sign up at that site. keep in mind other tournaments and commitments you might have. I know a steam tournament if coming soon, so dont over commit yourself .But I have a group of players that just love the format I have come up with and we hope to see new players now that we are going to WW2 instead of just the modern stuff I have run in the past.Make sure to review the rules below as to what you can expect in this tournament. Get over to The few good men web site and get signed on.General Rules:Looking for players that are committed and mature enough to complete what they start and grown up enough to play through battles that might be hard on ones ego since you might be on the brutal end of an enemies attack. In three tournaments hoisted in the past. I find all players are not, and they either fade away or I remove them. (They are not allowed in any further events I run. So don’t bother to waste your or my time if you are someone that is going to fall into that category. Please read through these rules and make sure you are willing to abide by them.1. A dropbox folder is to be maintained with an invite to the Tournament master (Slysniper), this will provide me access to the game files if for any reason we need to replace a player or verify slow play issues. Please name the dropbox files in a method that I can tell who is playing whoExample: ( Match 1 Jtimo vs grunt )2. Game files can stay in the dropbox folder and not be deleted until I have copied them and I will remove them.Or you can have the normal auto remove on but at some point I might pull them from achieve, copy them and then remove them once more.3. No surrender at any time is allowed, if you want to end a game early, then use cease fire with both players agreeing to those terms, if one player wants to play on instead, allow him to do so until he is satisfied. It is in your own best interest to put up the best fight you can no matter what, throughout the whole battle (No one wants to be that guy that has the best score posted against him)Also, some battles can be very one sided, so it’s not the point about if you are losing or not. It’s about the point as to not lose as bad as the other players playing the same side in the tournament.4. If for any reason a player needs to drop out of game play, just contact me and let me know of your intentions and I will make sure any non-completed game will be finished for your opponent.5. If pre-planned arty or air is available, you are allowed to use it. I will likely make sure the opponent will know that option is out there to possible be used against him in that battle. In my tournament, if it’s available. You can release hell on turn one or however you want to use it.Since there is at times no way for you to know where the enemy set up areas are since these are truly blind battles, it’s a risk reward decision in battles where I feel unit placement is not a given and you are taking a risk to use it in such a method. You might guess right and hit the enemy or miss. Then there is the targets that are logical, so both sides should expect such tactics at possible locations.6. If there is a problem with slow play by any participant, I will invite them to be dismissed from the tournament and will complete any unfinished game as necessary. (Slow play will be determined to be less than 5 Turns an week) exceptions allowed for vacations and trips and such as long as your opponent and myself are informed in advanced.Do not bother to join if your only method is to try and play all your turns in one or two days of the week, that likely will not work with many of your opponents.7. All battle have set time finishes, no variable endings are done in this Tournament format All games will be compared to each other playing the same amount of time. If by chance a setting is missed. Both players will cease fire at the expected end time of the scenario and then inform me of the issue.8. Any additional questions, just post them here and they will be addressed.9. And remember to have Fun, which is what it should be aboutScoring FormatThe format is you will be given a selected force. Your mission will be to do the best you can with the situation you have been given and the scoring will be given out to the top 50 percent from each side of the battle. So in other words, your side could be very challenging, but perform better than 50 percent of the players playing that side of the battle and you have won and will be given a point value as to how you have done.Winners will get a score of somewhere between 80 to 100 points per match depending on how they have performed to each other. So best player will receive 100 points, lowest winner will receive 80 points, and everyone else is somewhere in between.Scoring in scenarios will be your score minus your opponents score (as to how you will be selected for the top 50%).Each round you will be in charge of a different Nations forces, so skill with all forces will be a factor. As well as both offensive and defensive skillsBattles are designed generally to be short and intense ( I have been keeping all battles at 30 minutes or less so far generally.)If you are new to this, go review previous tournaments as to how this works if you have any question
  17. I dont recall any issues with the ntc missions and enemy arty strikes, but that has been a long while when we tested them.
  18. Ok, bridge design and weights. Here in the US, bridges are designed to handle the load of the heavest item that generally is going over it. That is a 18 Wheeler, a standard truck loaded is 40 Tons. but keep in mind, that is over the full lenght of the truck with so much weight on each axil. Also, part of the design is that you have to design it for bumber to bumper traffic, So when someone says a 50 ton bridge. it is a simple term used to reflect that if you are driving something 50 tons in weight, the bridge is designed for it in the worst case situation. Like bumper to bumper trucks all weighing in at 50 tons. Plus engineering design has built in safety factors also included. Plus some engineers pad their design numbers even more. So what I am saying to the non-engineer. If you drive a 60 Ton tank over a 40 ton bridge. And you did it one at a time, its likely no problem at all, even with Russians making the bridge poorly. The fun part of it is, if the bridge is long, the numbers jump to it not being a issue at all. The only bridges likely to collapse is real short small ones since you would be getting close to maxing out the load of all the traffic it was designed for. Another reason a tank is a chalenge is all that load is in a small area, somewhat of a point load, that is where the bridge might lack the design for it. But I know of truckers running loads off the books up to 80 Tons and managing to get from point A to B and crossing many of a bridge. So yes, a bridge can take way more load than a posted call out that is there for traffic.
  19. I was listening to a soldier that had worked on the exo skeleton (robotnics) program that seem to be also in the possible future as to men and warfare. But its another aspect of future transport. Once you start to enhance a man by having to wear such a thing, how much room does he take to transport and how much gear does he have. needless to say, all the high tech stuff has its own logistics that will need to be created as to how its supported. But for sure, this war is showing armor as nothing more than targets to be detroyed. Because, can anyone point out one battle in ths war where armor units have been used to be a important factor as to the success of the battle yet. They have become a tool to use against civilians more than anything else.
  20. Here is a good example of what might happen to armoured warfare, or the death of the tank as we know it. A small platform with weaponry that can be controlled by remote Once you can build things like this for much less than a tank but have them provide the fire power similar to a tank. Without a crew that needs to be directly exposed with the weapon to threats. How in the world is it not going to remove tanks from the battlefield as we think of them presently.
  21. well, the 5000 trucks per day would represent almost 4 trucks per minute. Of course its not a logical answer, even if there was multible route that could be developed as to flow for the movement of the grain, there would still be the logistical challenges as to fuel and such. So of course its not the answer. But I look at it if you even manage 500 trucks a day, well at least you have 10%, 10% is better than none. Rail system is not the answer, even if it is possible to get it working as to infastructure issues. No way to increase the availability of grain cars that would carry the product, not like there be a lot of them sitting around available to be used to form the needed trains. So again, not the answer, but At least some of the stocks could be saved. The amount of food from the region is just amazing as to the numbers.
  22. thanks for the input on the grain issues, with those type of numbers as to amounts to transport, it is correct to say, no simple answer is going to be available as to the grain getting saved. It sounds like a massive amount of it will be lost. But It still seems like more effort is needed as to trying to get as much effort as possible as to transporting what they can. I doubt rail can be adjusted much from what is presently available. I have no clue what trucking could do as to amounts, but it seems like it is the only other option and that it should be attempted. But again in eurupe, trucking might not be near the size it is here in the states. All I keep thinking is we basically live in a time where hardly anyone alive has ever had to deal with food shortages. I have a feeling that is going to change and the world is in for a shock. And if you live anywhere where more food is imported than grown within its own region for the needs of the people. You are really in for a challenge, because exports from food rich countries could take on a whole new economic structure.
  23. well, Just been thinking, plenty of effort to give military aid by sending all the weapons to ukraine. but there is a lack of effort to get the grain that will start going to waste within the country out to the rest of the world that will suffer a food crises without it. The grain silo's are full presently from last years harvest and this years havest starts in a month. The food stocks should be used to pay for all the support given. I just saw how they are talking about the russian navel blockade preventing it from leaving the country. if weapons are getting in by land, food should be getting out. Once again, the political leaders are not addressing some real simple world needs in this crises.
  24. Very good points. I agree that is what is needed. But, do you really think any of that would ever be given, The odds of that happening is likely slime to none. Ukraine will not be given those type of assets. So all they can do is grind Russian forces that are there on their lands. and It appears they can do that for as long as needed. So I see major operations coming to a end at some point this year and then that prolonged grind that has happened in most conflicts in recent history.
