  1. Sigh...no I did not... Thanks for the rapid reply! It looks like I need to go back to Devon..
  2. Hola all! Old CMBB/CMAK player back in the fold now that WEGO has made its long-overdue return. As it has been a while (and I have a touch of OCD) I decided to play both of the tutorial campaigns by the book. The basic training in Devon went just fine but I am scratching my head on mission #1 of the TF Raff campaign. On page 34 of the pdf manual, I am told to set up my PLT MTR in the Manor's courtyard, send the remainder of the PLT forward to an overwatch position and leave the F CO HQ section near the mortar to provide C2 (as the PL will be too far forward). Trouble is, my MTR now acts as if it has no-one spotting for it. The icon tells me that the MTR is in voice range of a HQ (which makes sense as it is 10m from my CO) but it cannot target what the CO can see. Then when I click on the voice icon, the PL is automatically selected (which I assume means that the PL is in fact in C2 for the mortar) but the PL is 128m away! I would add a screenshot but you already have it. Page 35 of the manual has a picture of my set up since that OCD I mentioned earlier forces me to do exactly what "the book" says to do. I did read the C2 section of the manual but as I read it, the F CO leadership should take command of the mortar as it is the only lower echelon asset around other than an independent scout team that is co-located with the company command section (also, BTW, in accordance with the pic in the manual). Has anyone else run into this problem? Am I missing something obvious here? Any help will be appreciated! Sarge
  3. Moon, It has now been a month and a half since I first raised this issue and emailed customer support. No resolution here in the forums and not a word from customer support either. I'd like my $10 back now please. As the forum is the only means of communication, please reply to this post and I will them PM you for the address to which you can send the check. Deal?
  4. Folks, Any word on this issue? The odds that I have successfully screwed up the "rename old .exe and then extract to folder with file structure intact" directions on three separate tries to make this patch work are kinda slim.
  5. Moon, Whew! Thanks for the reply. Getting mad tires me something awful. Appreciate the feedback, (almost) all better now. I understand vacations. I take vacations too and I don't answer e-mail when I am on them either
  6. Moon, Phillip, et al, Here I am STILL not able to play this game . Have I followed the installation instructions to the letter? Yes. Did I check the "Knowledge Base"? Yes. Have I posted my issue in the tech support forum? Yes, although only Redwolf has stopped in to assist (http://www.battlefront.com/community/showthread.php?t=88067). Have I e-mailed tech support? Yes I e-mailed Matt Faller, although I have received nothing in reply, not even an autoreply. Am I beginning to get a bit angry about the whole thing? I'll let you guess the answer to this one. I am not usually an "early adopter" as I get a slight case of the ass when things do not work as advertised. I took a risk in this case as Battlefront has always resolved any of my issues in the past (I have been playing CMBB/CMAK since they came out). I even bought these two patches the very day that they were available on Battlefront. When was that again? Ah, yes. 23 July. It is now the 15th of August and I haven't played either game once. Will someone PLEASE HELP? I would have posted this in my original thread but as I did not append a smiley face to the topic, it seems to have been ignored (unlike this thread). Here: Now that we are friends, you can help me, yes?
  7. Not to sound like a "Me, me, me!" type but does anyone have any more ideas on the original issue? I have given all the info that there is to give and I am at a loss here. I rely on the forum as customer service has been ignoring my email for six days now and I hold out little hope.
  8. Sandau, I have UAC off and CMBB is in a distinct folder in x86. Still doesn't do a thing.
  9. Yessir. I assume I need to nuke it? What does it do? P.S. - This isn't like when I am playing Team Fortress 2 and ask how to switch weapons is it? Because in TF2 4 different people will invariably tell me to hit ALT + F4. 'Cause thats funny...I guess.
  10. I have CDs for each game, stand-alone type. I do not have the anthology.
  11. Well, there are now two. One with the correct name and another appended with "Old" so as to avoid confusion. Update: I just removed the old file entirely - no dice. It was worth a shot though, thanks for the suggestion!
  12. GEN S, I did not, I was too excited about the full game I suppose.
  13. I read the forum posts that related to these patches before I bought them (force of habit) and I had to chuckle at those who had their panties in a twist over five or ten dollars to play these great games again. But...if there is an undocumented 64bit compatibility issue, I'd sure like my tenner back.
  14. Hola, I got my copy of the Battlefront newsletter and saw the new patches. Exciting stuff so I went directly to battlefront.com and downloaded both. I followed the instructions, renamed the .exe and extracted the files. New .exe in the old location (as mentioned in the how-to text). Next up is a game....or not. I try to run it and I get a DEP (Data Execution Prevention) message. Ok...I add CMBB to the "do not DEP" list. NOW for the game...or not. Now when I double click the .exe I go through the Open File Security Warning and then the UAC rigamarole and then nothing happens. Nothing at all, no process running, no nada. What have I screwed up? Or is this a Vista 64bit issue and I have wasted $10?
  15. The Javelin's minimum range is 65m for direct attack and 150m for top attack. Direct attack is the old-school "missile slam in the side" shot and top attack is the Javelin's special "missile through the roof" approach. That's real life minimum range(s) but if I know BF at all I am pretty sure that those are the in-game ranges as well.
