  1. Jersey I remember reading in Churchill's history of ww2 that he was affraid that if England was conquered that firstly, the navy should go to Canada. The Nazi's would kill the families of the British naval personnel. Secondly, that the new Nazi British Gov. would raise troops to fight against American, USSR, etc. So the UK may be more of a 2.0 or 2.5 than a 1.0. And if England fell, Vitchy France may become full blown Nazi Allies. Something to think about! Seawolf
  2. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to You all My all our troops come home safe this year, may God bless them. May all there hard work create a Democracy where one has never stood. I know it's very slim, but those poor people in that land have suffered a lot, and deserve better than there past history. I salute all our veterans, WW2, Korea, Viet Nam, Desert Storm, Iraq, and the US Navy which has kept the 7 Oceans open and safe for 60 years. Here is wishing that SC2 will ship soon! And final to the creators and keepers of Strategic Command, good luck this year and may you turn a profit. Hope in the Good Shepherd. Seawolf
  3. Hi Jersey and Rambo Just dropped in to see how the site is going. Sorry to hear that Rambo is gone. He should only have be suspended for a month or something. No free speech here, no first amendment, like in the USA. Well, Jersey, Merry Christmas to you and your family, and have a happy New Year. You have always been a upright and fine Gentleman (and you know your history also). Thought that SC2 would be out by now, oh well!
  4. Liam Your feeling your oats. It's hard not to be angry with Euro's so complacent and snobby. Sitting back criticizing everyone else and not lifting a finger to help. Great examples: Korea, Taiwan, Kuwait. UN troops couldn't stop a pack of dogs from raiding a chicken coop. It makes me think that all the good men of Europe were killed off in WW2, and the only ones left are the sons of misfits and girly-men. We from Southern California greet you!
  5. Great, President Kerry will shoot spit wads at the terrorist, or say "Now you little terrorist, behave yourselves or after you blowup another 3000 Americans we'll get mad at you and maybe do something really bad against you, like cut off your milk supply"!!! Americans have nothing to envy out of Europe anymore. The Continent is bankrupt, spiritually, socially, and financially. The English speaking poeple have saved Europe 3 times in the last century, WW1, WW2, and the Cold War. And the Europeans hate us for doing it! All the social programs have underminded the way most people think in Europe, the govenment will do it for us, don't be such a cowboy, the UN will make things right. Well we across the pond are more dubious of Europes way of dealing with terrorism. Off the subject of coarse.
  6. Thanks PZGNDR Sounds like there will be some great changes, and you're doing a good job of listening to the Forum. The bigger map is going to make the game much more realistic. I wish you would consider the amount of shipping a country could use during a turn. The largest amount of shipping ever used in history allowed only six divisions to be landed in one day (D-Day, the five beaches and the 29th Div on bloody Omaha) that's only two corps. To allow unlimited amounts of transports takes away from the way countries could perform. Again, great job, can't wait for the new battles! Please move this question to the SC2 area.
  7. From Cosmin "The Red Army (especially it's commanders) improved a lot as years passed and after 1943 it was at least on par with German Army from the point of the view of war tactics (they learned the blitz tactics lesson very well from the germans and applied it with devastating effects). Again, at equal tactic skills, the sheer quantity of manpower and war material fielded by the USSR won the war." Dear Cosmin I don't know what kind of history books you get in Bucharest, but Western Military History Books beg to differ. Russian tactic's usually were made up of large amounts of arty followed by mass charges of untrained ivans stiffened with T-34's and NKVD Political Officers. If it didn't work the first time they would follow it up with a second attack. If that didn't work they followed with a third attack, if that didn't work etc. etc. Russian lost 15 million soldiers, that is an incredable amount of deaths!!!! German losses on the Eastern front were about 2 million. That's 7.5 to 1. And these odds continued to the end of the war. It took a million russian dead to take Berlin. Russian equipment is a different story. They had quanity but very little quality. Things that were good: their tanks T-34/85 IS-1s and 2s and the tank destroyers, even though they didn't all have radio's(big mistake), artillery anti-tank guns and rockets, Tank busters IL2s. Crap: rifles, machine guns, trucks, most planes, supplies. The US duce and a half was their favorite vehicle. Along with K-rations. Life was cheap to the russian mind, you we there for mother russia to use in any way she felt needed. Generals didn't worry about high death reports, only defeat. Sure Marshal Zhukov had victories but at what cost. Any American, German or British General with the same losses would have been canned. I would hardly call any russian attack a blitzkrieg. German tactics usually had two pincers penitrating up to 200 miles inland, Russian tactics never went that deep. Sure Amry Group Central in 1944 was destroyed, but over a long amount of time, and they had hardly what would be called an Army Group. I just don't buy it, sorry. Convince me!
  8. Mr. Hubert would you please enlighten us ever waiting gamers to the nuances of the navel forces in SC2? I hope that transports will not be able to last for years without unloading, that always bothered me. Italian corps floating around for years without having to unload, never hungry, or out of fuel. What about ASW and Raiders? Will carrier planes be as strong as they are now? The Strategic Bomber, will they be able to kill troops(hardly ever done, and when tried big failures)? Will there be Medium bombers.... best against troops and Ships! Anxiously awaiting your reply. [ September 01, 2004, 04:41 PM: Message edited by: Seawolf ]
  9. To Jersey As always John your masterful. It has always confussed me about captured russian tanks. The Germans used Czech tanks after swallowing up the Sudenland, and french tanks after the glorious fall of frogland, but never Russian T-34's. Never seen any pictures of T-34's with swastika's on them? Strange.
  10. GENERAL COLT Why do you short change US Armed Forces. In 42 we were kicking the Jap's butts in Guadalcanal, the invincible jungle fighters. In 41 the jap's couldn't take Bataan until Apr of 42. Singapore the Gibralter of the Pacific fell in two weeks. In 43 after north africa we invaded Sicily, and fought the Herman Georing Division and it retreated to Italy. Only in Tunis did we recieve a bad name, and it was mostly because of bad Generals and not the troops. To compare troops lets use the standard of one German soldier of 1942 quality. What was a french soldier worth comparied to him. 1 Ger= 4 Fra, 1 Ger= 1.5 Eng, 1 Ger= 8 Rus, 1 Ger= 1.5 US, 1 Ger= 3 Ita, 1 Ger= 2.5 Jap, 1 Ger= 5 Chi, 1 Ger= 2.5 Empire. This would slide as the war went on. This however would not be true about navies or air forces, or Panzers for that matter. 1 Ger Pnz= 3 USSR, 4 UK, 5 US, 10 Fra. Fun to compare...very subjective however.
  11. Back to the question. If Germany would have waited until 1942 to attack the USSR, she may have discovered the T-34 thru intel, that would have been big. Also going back to my scenario of attacking North Africa before Russia, Germany would have had beter Oil supplies, and England would have had much less. Yes, Jersey John, England got most of it's oil from the US and So. America, but Mid East oil was used by all countries, encluding Russia after the Caucases were taken. Germany would not have to waist their time and materials making synthetic fuels. Germany lost a million young men in Russia the first year of her attack into Russia. She never made up the difference with new recruits or satellite forces. Waiting until 1942 would have(hinded sight) cut down on troops killed or wounded by the harshest winter in 500 years in the USSR. Normal weather in winter was 0 to 20 degrees below zero. 1941 saw 50 to 60 degrees below zero. That's deadly! As some have stated, even if Germany had made Uncle Joe quit, Germany didn't have the forces to occupy all of Russia, and she never would have beaten the US. But she might have fought to a draw?
  12. From Avatar Your pigs, all of you P.S. Canada is no better, but i'm living in Germany now, so I'm saved. That's so french, I wish America was as far advanced as france or Quebec is spiritually, culturally, and financially. Yah, Germany is your friend, you should feel right at home! Why not live in Socialist france, your fatherland. Too much chaos. Oh that's right they are so snobby that they don't even like the french from Quebec! I've mostly found that people that don't like America are jealous of our prosperity. They usually say "we like Americans but not America". You can't separate the two, America is it's people. If you like the people then you like their country also. I don't like the French, and I don't like france. Been their, no big deal! But I do like the Europeans. Germans, English, Irish, Greeks, great countries. But there is no place like, Southern California (Orange County). Best weather on earth, best golf, best economy, and the most excepting people anywhere.
  13. TO SHANVAK Your French attitude does not shock me. The next war you lose (and you're good at doing that) we may just watch. To Sombra Your right about Saudi Arabia, they are going to fall soon, then the whole world will be dependent on Russian Oil. Scary! I like your attitude about your grandfathers. Shows a lot of charactor. To Rambo Titus took Jerusalem in 70 ad, not 79. As a fellow Christian I wish that you would show more charity to the outsiders. Christ had mercy on us, predestinated us, chose us, died for us, we should have the same attitude towards the non-covenantal. (except for the French)
  14. To Sombra Nice posting, you are a man of sound principles. We are going to have to agree about disagreeing. I think that we Americans, and I'm assuming that I can talk for all Americans, would rather be like we were before World War 1, isolationist! But two world wars changed all that, both with Deutscheland may I add. After WW2 and the fall of the Colonial Empires, France, England, Holland, Belgium, and Italy (Germany losing all her Empire after WW1)a great void was left to fill. Two World powers raced to fill the void, the USSR and the USA. From 1945 thru 1991 was the Cold War. Thank God we prevailed! Does anyone regret that? Now there is one Super Power. How would Alexander handle that power? Caesar, Napolian, Hitler, Stalin, Mao, the Popes. etc. etc. I think we are very benevolent as a single Super Power. But it will not last, most great countries only last 200 years. Rome 400. So the end will come, and all you who distain American Arrogance will wish that we were still in control, instead of having to learn Chinese! The land of the free, and the home of the brave.
