  1. Hi Gang. I'm designing my first scenerio and have a question regarding reinforcements. An armored infantry company is slated for entry. How do I ensure the infantry will be mounted in their halftracks when they appear on the map?
  2. The equilizer is tactics. You simple cannot use a Russian force the same way as a similarly sized German force. Variables like reaction time, optics, gun characteristics (just to name a few)dictate that, yes, the German PZIVH can stand off 1500 meters and knock out T34s with relative inpunity. On the other hand, few German platoons can withstand a Russian SMG platoon's attack (if executed properly). Something you'll have to experiment with, finding the best techniques to maximize a unit's and a force's strengths while minimizing the weaknesses.
  3. Phillip Of Macedon. Remember him? He built the empire that Alexander inherited. After uniting the tribes of Macedonia, he took on City States like Catharge, Athens, Sparta - and, after a number of years, conquered them all. He was wise enough to know that there were other ways to defeat an enemy than through military force.
  4. Hmmm. I don't remember being able to cancel a human wave attack. Its been a while, I must admit. Once I set a Human Wave with a 60+ second delay and was unable to cancel it. My opponent bombarded the church they were destined for. My Wave got there just in time for it to collapse on them. I saw that it was going to happen but couldn't cancel the command. Lucky me...
  5. Thanks for the quick reply. That does partially answer the question but misses the core. In the new system, how would you cammand a squad to run from the woods they're currently in, to that building 60m away but if they "make contact," to stop and drop. Currently, they would just continue running through the HMG fire.
  6. There's a lot of great info in the forums on CMx2 - a bit much to see if this idea has been brought up. Please consider this.... In the current system we have move, advance, run, sneak, and move to contact. Once you move you can "tack on" the "rotate to" and/or "hide" options. I'd like to see "to contact" stripped out and made into an option. That way, you could have a unit "advance - to contact - and hide," or "sneak-to contact." The keyboard commands for the former could be A-E-H. Make sense? Has it been addressed? Good idea/bad idea?
  7. I had no idea that a Scenario Migration question would morph into a star chart discussion. Thanks, Steve, for your definative answer. Believe me when I say I understand data migration challanges between versions. Focus on what's important - the new version. As for Star Charts in CMx2: instead of playing a night scenario to see the stars, how about waiting until night, going outside and actually LOOKING up at the REAL night sky.
  8. There has been a lot of discussion about features we'd like to see added, enhanced, removed, etc, but has the Migration of CM scenarios been discussed. A lot of folks have invested serious time creating excellent games. My thinks to you all!! Is there a Scenerio Migration path planned?
  9. I'm in the process of playing Panthers Roll and am really enjoying it! Had to delay the finish because of a) too many beverages of choice, and; it was 3:30 am. Bad luck hit me the first turn I got shots on the T34s. Return fire disable the veteran SP's gun and the other was immobilized 2 turns later. There I was with no armor to speak of (halftracks only) facing what? A battalion of T34/85s. A little smoke and some fleeing allowed most of my forward infantry load up and fall back. Later (forever, it seemed) the panthers arrived and made an immediate impression. Love the sound of those high velocity 75's delivering an Armor Piercing Message of Love. Will keep you posted on progress MR. ***SPOILER**** Was very shocked to see all the "guests" appear on the right flank. The soft ground didn't appear to bother them.
  10. Hey V - Yes the game does come with a manual. If you bothered to look, you wouldn't see my question directly referenced. I've seen many posts you've made. Do you have anything to offer but sarcasm and worthless comments? Have a nice day.
  11. Anyone ever encounter this? Turn 1 of a PBEM Meeting Engagement and I can not set up a pre-arranged bombardment. I can set up a fire mission but the familier "unable to adjust later" message doesn't show up. Further, the delay of the fire mission is similar to a non-first-turn mission. Anyone know if there's a rule stating "no pre-arranged bombardments in a Meeting Engagement?" My opponent will be very disappointed Thanks
