  1. BUMP Does anyone have access to these graphics? As seen here: http://www.mobygames.com/game/windows/strategic-command-european-theater/screenshots
  2. I had to dig this up to ask, does anyone know how to find this alternative set of graphics of SC1? To show what the OP meant: http://www.mobygames.com/game/windows/strategic-command-european-theater/screenshots I understand it was part of the Australian release of a 'special edition': http://www.battlefront.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=286&Itemid=109 Does anyone know where: A - I can get these lovely sprites or B - I can purchase this version of the game Thanks
  3. Just to add to what Hubert already said, you cannot detach or attach a unit to/from an HQ if you've already moved /reinforced/upgraded that unit in the same turn.
  4. I just bought the bundle with Gold, perhaps I tried it o the vanilla version then gave up and didn't try it on Gold - would certainly help a lot with Japanese invasion of China!
  5. Could have sworn I tried his before and it didn't work, must try it again later.
  6. I'd just like to bump this and say that in the various pop ups in Patton Drives East, there simply isn't enough time to read some of them, which really spoils the experience. Ideally there should be an 'OK' button you have to press to exit the pop up. Thanks.
  7. Here ya go, compiled by SC's resident master, Terif: http://www.panzerliga.de/en/docs/lehrgang/lehrg_sc2_eng.php
  8. Actually nevermind, I bought the expansion anyway and see that this problem was fixed in the latest patch.
  9. I don't know if this is just reserved to the demo of PDE and not the full game, but in the Berlin Crisis scenario, when playing as the USSR, if I try to switch the Yugoslavian HQ to auto select, the game crashes and displays the following message: 'FAILED(draw_sprite_on_map_surface):Segmentation violation' followed by 'Runtime Error! Program: ...tegic Command 2 Patton Drives East Demo\SC2-PDEDEMO.exe This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an usual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information.' Another very strange issue i've encountered, is that upon starting up any scenario the game runs incredibly slowly, and yet when I went into the options menu, settings, then click back out of it, the game seems to reset itself then suddenly it works perfectly. My final gripe is that the popup message at the beginning of the Berlin Crisis scenario (from Stalin) is quite unintelligible and contains spelling mistakes (is this deliberate?!), and vanishes before you have time to read it fully. Just wondering if these issues have been corrected in the final version?
  10. I'm by no means an expert at this game, but I am surprised reading some of the comments of some of the better players who dismiss the value of both Intelligence and Production tech. Firstly, Intelligence is more beneficial than people think. The random unit spotting is only part of its benefit - researching it gives you a research % bonus and also negates any bonus from your opponents intelligence if yours is higher. For example, playing Fall Weiss in expert mode as the Axis, I invested heavily in Intelligence - 5 chits, so 500 mpps, however before I even invaded Russia I had achieved lvl 4 Intel, and it definitely helped the rest of my research as I'd also achieved lvl 3 Heavy Tanks, lvl 2 Infantry Weapons, lvl 2 Motorisation, lvl 3 production tech and lvl 1 Industry tech. I noticed I was getting several research 'breakthroughs' that wouldn't have come without the intel tech. If you think this came at the cost of unit production, it did not; I was able to invade USSR with 5 Panzer Groups, 8 Armies, 3 fighter units, 4 tactical bomber units, 1 strategic bomber unit, 1 special forces unit, 1 paratroop unit and a smattering of Corps - all fully equipped. Regarding Production tech, there is a common misconception that each level of Production Tech only reduces the actual cost of purchasing the unit by 5%, when in fact it also reduces the cost of the unit's reinforcement, before any unit upgrades, by 5%. I discovered this a while ago but it still seems commonly misunderstood: http://www.battlefront.com/community/showthread.php?t=67299&page=8 So in the above example, I had lvl 3 production tech which meant unit reinforcement was 15% cheaper before unit upgrades than if I had no production tech. Surely this makes it much more worthwhile, the amount of reinforcement required on the eastern front in a battle with the USSR is ridiculous - i'm sure the 200mpps I invested in getting to lvl 3 production tech will be more than paid back when you take into account the cost of unit purchasing and reinforcement, both of which are ever present factors from turn to turn. This obviously applies to subsequest releases since SC2 as well. I'm surprised this has been so overlooked.
  11. Awesome, I believe that fixed it. It now seems just as fast as what WaW was. Thanks very much, i'm glad I can enjoy the game now how it was intended
  12. Thanks for the speedy response! I checked the SC2.ini file and it was as it was meant to be, like you said. The game does run a bit faster with a lower resolution, but unfortunately it's just too much of a compromise for me. On reflection, it's not as bad as I first thought, but compared to WaW it's definitely not as quick. I figured it's just a product of the fact that the map is so much bigger, and that there is so much more going on than in WaW. I did notice that the map scrolls faster across areas where there aren't many units. For what it's worth, these are my system specs for my laptop: Windows 7 Home premium, 64 bit Intel Core i3 M350 @2.27 GHz 4GB RAM ATi Mobility Radeon HD 5470 Was there anything done at all in the patches to improve the speed? I'm tempted to get this game!
  13. I've downloaded the demo of SC Global Conflict Gold, and I don't see any option for video acceleration as there was with SC WaW. This option helped the performance of the game enormously for me, without it it runs painfully slowly. Can anyone tell me if video acceleration is in the full patched version of Global Conflict Gold? I had a quick skim through the patch notes and I couldn't see it, though I may have missed it. Thanks in advance.
  14. OK we played again last night and once again, I research intel to level three and never spot any units, that was up as far as June 1941. James says in our last game he also had intel for both Germany and Italy and never recieved any spots. I thought maybe it was because the screen goes black during the turn transfer and that these are skipped, but upon testing i've remembered that the intel spots come up after the military activity of the last turn has been displayed. So I get the military activity ok, but never any intel spots. There's no way that between both of us in two games that we wouldn't spot a single unit, there must be a glitch or something. As I said though, when I did a network game against myself just to test, there were intel spots. What's going on? I'd be suprised if i'm the first person to notice this.
  15. Heh, good call I tried that and much to my amazement it worked, I thought it was bound to crash or and error to happen or something. But yes, I was getting intel spots, it worked when i played myself in a network game. Me and james are going to start another game and i'll be researching intel again, i'll let you know if it's definitely working. You gotta agree though that the US having level 5 intel and not getting any spots is a little bit strange.
