  1. I agree with c3K : trees branches should detonate HE round but they should be damaged/destroyed in the process. As it is now, HE rounds can hit repeatedly the same tree branches without any consequence for the tree. Not a showstopper by any means but it can be extremely frustrating...
  2. Hi, I use to run into a serious problem when playing online with an Italian player. He sets up, give me his IP. I connect, we start the game and inevitably after a few minutes, we get a synchronisation message. Game stops, the resumes, then stops again and it never resumes. My opponent says it could be a firewall or router problem and asks if I opened port 7023. I'm puzzled because I thought that if the port was not open, we could not even start the game. BTW I'm using Windows 7, 64bits. Thank you for your help, Best regards from a long time supporter, JHM PS : does Hamachi bypass this port 7023 hurdle ?
  3. Wow found another video with some more fumbles when firing AT grenades with a FAMAS : http://www.asiadog.com/video/video/F.L.G./chauN53W1tI/compil_Tir_famas_flg Poor noobs ! PS : and the instructor yelling "goal !" to celebrate
  4. I happened to fire an AT grenade with a FAMAS during my military service. The instructors showed us a very stranger firing position which is different from the picture shown in the thread. Thanks to Internet I found a funny video that shows it : I remember one old lieutenant said that this way af handling the FAMAS was lame. He told us you 'd better wrap the weapon's strap around your forward hand in order to reduce the kick (which is pretty strong as shown in the video).
  5. I read this thread while listening to "Let it bleed" from the Rolling Stones. Just figure what the last song says, again and again ? "You can't always get what you want, you can't always get what you want, you can't always get what you want but if you try sometimes you just might find you get what you need" With CMSF I found what I needed Blessed be the Stones ! PS : very interesting thread, as always in this forum. It's a pleasure to practice one's english reading skill here...
  6. Thank you for your reply, Schrullenhaft. I submitted a ticket (VTE-677034) with a copy of the file causing the crash to desktop.
  7. Thanks for the reply. It appears that my last save file causes the crash. It weighs only 6,55 Mo . Some official reaction on this bug, maybe ? Is this a know issue with v1.21 ? Shall I send a copy of the file for Battlefront to have a look at it ? Life would be easier if CMSF did not crash that way, but displayed instead a message indicating that a saved game is corrupted. I also wonder what causes the corruption of the save file. Is it possible to have CMSF check the integrity of the save file on the fly ? It's a real pain in the arse to have to restart a big campaign scenario from scratch. A real show stopper for me I'm afraid !
  8. Hi, I've been using CMSF for quite a while now and last night I was playing the second battle of the campaign "Warriors in the Sands". I saved and quit. This morning, the game crashes everytime I click on "saved game". I can start a battle, a quick battle, a campaign or the editor, but no saved game I'm using Win 7 + Marines and British, all patched up to v. 1.21 I uninstalled and reinstalled the game but the problem still occurs. If I erase my saved games files, the program doesn't crash when I click on "saved game". Maybe one of the files causes the crash ?
  9. WOW ! That grenade throw is a world cup winner, hands down ! Your grunts went down like pins in a bowling game :-)
  10. The other day I got a lovely fumble with grenade throwing : Beginning : End : And seen from above it gives this : Green = intended throw, red = resulting throw : A bit far fetched, uh ? Or is it possible to screw up that bad ?
  11. Wow, that's a nice one ! Is it me or are they twins ??? ;-)
  12. Ok, I'm new to taking pictures, but here we go : Once upon a time there was a Toyota hidden in the trees It believed it would be safe in the shade, but it was not Target in sight ! Woooosh !!!! Target not in sight anymore, but it is too late now Kabooooom, end of Toyota #2 :-) [sorry Souldierz, but this little bugger of yours eventually got what it deserved for many turns :-)] I'm puzzled by the look of the sky in photos #2 to #5. Maybe it's a distortion due to the zoom ? It makes for a true extra-terrestrial atmosphere !
  13. Thank you for this top notch AAR. As many others I guess, I was eagerly waiting for the next post to see how the battle would unfold. Great snapshots and, most important of all, great writing ! Your work really makes CMSF shine. PS : I can't help underlying that this battle was a mirrored battle... Battlefront please include a "mirror battle" option in the QB builder !
  14. MeatEtr : thanks for your message. I don't feel all alone anymore, what a relief ! With a mirrored game option, CMSF QB system as is it is now would instantly cease to be a massive frustation production utility... I bet my ticket that it would work real good. CMSF fans, please make a step forward and give this thread some support !
  15. That would be appreciated, +1 ! And while you're at it, Battlefront, please provide us with a simple way to create mirrored forces in Quick Battles. That too would help a great deal.
  16. I am interested in a pbm battle as well ! Any side will do (British troops and Marines also welcome). Just mail me a turn and let's roll :-) jh_morneau@hotmail.com
  17. Sorry, I made a mistake, here is the good link : http://sgmcaen.free.fr/bombcomplet.htm 72 days of bombardment, starting on the 6th of june 1944. You can click on the calendar to read what happened on a specific day.
  18. If you want to kow more about the battle of Caen, I suggest this website : http://sgmcaen.free.fr/bombardement%20du%207%20juillet%20temoignages.htm Lots of impressive photos and a day by day account of the "action". Poor town...
  19. I never thought I would ever kiss Santa Claus' feet for bringing me barbed wire, but hey, Battlefront made it happen :-) FoW defensive works, blimey, this is a fantastic piece of news !!! I've been following you guys since about 1998 and I'll stick around some more. Am I the only one feeling that we are part of some sort of family? Joyeux Noël à tous ! JHM
  20. Sorry I should not have spoken about Blue vs Red. What I had in mind is a simple option to have mirrored Blue vs Blue or Red vs Red quickbattles. Would you tick this option, you would only select options (nationality, branch, experience and so on) for one side, and the other would get exactly the same units. This would be soooo much quicker than having to fiddle with the scenario editor. What do you think?
  21. I have played a few online quickbattles during the last few days an ran into desperately uneven fights. Nothing new under the sun, I know, but I thought that if there was a simple option in the QB setup screen to have mirrored units, then I wouln't have any reason to moan anymore ! It would work like this : computer picks troops randomly for Blue, according to player's wishes (nationality, type, branch, experience and so on) and then gives the very same units to Red. Period. That way, I would not be able to blame it on my units if I get another online spanking ;-) That would not need too much code, would it? A simple additonal option to make us happy while waiting for CM2X WWII. Small enough to be included in a patch. Please Battlefront, do us this favor !
  22. This is getting extremely frustrating. Isn't there something Battlefront can do to speed the process?
  23. I bought CMSF directly from Battlefront + the 2 modules, so no problem for me. But 2 weeks ago I ran into a real bargain in a french "FNAC" mediastore : 3 PC games for 10 euros. Among the many crappy titles, I was amazed to find several copies of CMSF Paradox version !!!!! Apparently they did not sell... So I bought 3 for 10€ because some of my friends hadn't bought the game yet :-) The problem is they are now waiting for the Paradox patch to be able to play online with me :-(
  24. Yeah, that looks promising indeed and I share your excitement... BUT (because there is a huge but here) Just picture this gorgeous Tiger... burning the way all vehicles currently do in CMSF... ...and instantly there is no joy anymore, but just a real pain in the ass ;-) So Battlefront pleaaaaaaaaaaaaase tell us that you will implement damaged / wrecked models for the WWII game ! The ones you used for CM1X series were simple but did the job. Pleazzzzzzzzzzzzze !!!!
  25. Salut Cyberstratege !
