Any chance there’s a transcript? I can’t even sit down and watch a GOOD two hour movie in one sitting these days, let alone a conversation between two of the most detestable living humans in the entire world.

We had a whole thread on this somewhere.  It depends.  Napoleon was living in a time of offensive primacy, his strategy worked - the rest of the 19th century tried to emulate it.
Then came WW1 - and we won that one through defensive action that wore the Germans out through grinding attrition pressures.  So you can win a war defensively...in fact Mao wrote and entire doctrine on this.  You can even win a "real" war defensively.  One could argue Ukraine won back vast swaths of their country on largely attritional mechanics on over stretched Russian forces.  They can win again through defensive attrition.
They will go on the offence again but these become finishing moves after the heavy lifting of defensive attrition has done its work.  The truly great generals knew when to apply either approach.
Finally, there are plenty examples of "winning" a war is exactly that, not losing.  We have become so western-enamored with total victory complete with parades etc.  However, far more wars in history ended with stalemates or incomplete victories.  We have bought into this entire dogma to such an extent that Ukraine - despite remaining an independent nation and fending off Russia - is "losing" this war because they do not achieve a version of victory we basically made up in our own heads.  And then turned into movies.
Defining what "winning and losing" really means in this war has been a central strategic issue.  We need to stop projecting our definitions onto Ukraine, much like we need to stop projecting western judgements.

    Introduction
Being a CAF soldier myself, it bothered me very much to see the vest used by the soldiers was not period correct (1982 pattern load bearing vest) and to me did not look the way I wanted my pixeltruppen to look.
I started from scratch my vest mod and this time I made a chest rig worn over the fragmentation vest. I decided this based on a photo I found from infanteers in Afghanistan (2008-2010) wearing chest rigs (see picture library). I have made and tested several versions and I finally completed the one I think looks best. I am not the best texture editor but I have spent several hours working on this project. I will give it to you soon, but first care for some history about the Canadian tactical vest?

    History:
The CAF is known for using a two system armor carrier including a fragmentation vest and a separate load bearing vest.  However, the troops in Afghanistan did not like the 90s era issued vest very much. The problem is, it isn't nearly modular enough as it had fixed pouches, no MOLLE and simply can't haul enough gear required in the field without major jerry-rigging. Take the mags for example, the average combat load during the Afghan war was 10-12 mags per soldier and the vest can carry only four. On top of that, they are placed very high up on the chest, fully enclosed and hard to reach. The theory was that having the mags on the chest would protect soldiers which were hit in the lungs/heart area. The bullet would first have to pass through a steel mag and it’s ammo, essentially turning your reloads into somewhat of an armor. Except, we aren't in the 90s anymore, and we now have real purpose made armor plates.
It was a great idea at the time, but that time passed a long time ago.
Some units, especially infantry units, allowed their members to wear their own kit because they acknowledged that the issued vest did not meet real life war fighting requirements. Some bought commercially available chest rigs and some used older Canadian issue pattern 82 webbing.
Nearly 20 years later, the tactical vest is still issued today to the disappointment of soldiers across Canada. However, in the late 2010s when going in deployment in some areas (Iraq, Mali) soldiers were issued SORD SCS Chest rigs that had to be given back upon return. Some tests were conducted with various LBV's and chest rigs but there is no replacement in sight at the moment...
    Now back to this mod!

    Features:
-All pouches reworked with magazines showing from the side of pouches.
-Medical pouch with red cross and buckle
-Two front utility pouches with buckles.
-Uniform with IR Canada flag, IR identification patch and an ISAF patch.
-Made in great detail, the skin has contour shadowing as well as a custom mapping file.
-Worn and dusty look for all infantry weapons except for sniper rifles and AT launchers

This mod works great with @37mm's Afghanistan timeframe and I hope he might add mine into his.
    Notes:
    - This is a combination of my 2 previous projects packed in one mod for the sake of simplicity and upgradability.
    - I have made the pictures into an IMGUR library so if I add content onto this mod, I will be able to add more photos to the album. Same principle applies for the download, it is in a Google Drive folder.
    - The way the CAF soldier is made, the vest is not it's seperate entity and is included in the uniform skin along with it's pouches. Since the pouches are fixed by default, there is no way for me (Please let me know if there is!) to add pouch modularity to the vest even if the game files shows lots of pouches with canadian classnames. That's just the way it is I guess. This game is so realistic, even the lack of modularity of the vest is represented in-game LOL.

Exactly one year after the first announcement, the project is now finished. In order to avoid
misunderstandings on the part of the company Battlefront.com, I chose the name CampaignPack 😎.
The pack (as described in former threads) consists of 5 campaigns in which the player is thrown
into the events of the summer of 1944 in the sector of the German Army Group Center.
In total you will play minium 52 single missions, maximum 55 single missions (depending on one
branch). To avoid technical problems, I didn't add any mods to the campaigns. But I can, for example,
highly recommend the excellent work of @JM Stuff, especially his extraordinary mod collection of vehicles
    and wrecks 👍
I recently visited the forum regularly to stay in touch with people who wanted to register. However, I have
asked the people at Battlefront.com several times to delete my profile.  This request has not yet been
granted to me, so as a quasi "undead" I will always stop by - but I will no longer take part in any discussions
or answer any questions in the forum. To get in touch with me, please write to me at:
    E-Mail: f-s-zbg@web.de.😎
Of course, I can still send the campaign pack to anyone interested.

So all I can say is:
It was a great pleasure for me to finish this project and share it with many people.
I hope you have as much fun playing as I did creating it 🙏

    Best regards
    Mr.X

I'll speculate it's because if it was there, players would want to use it for its primary purpose, which was towing various larger guns, which isn't a game feature.
    Thoughts?

As I posted in the other thread, I'm guessing this will mean Sheridans and the M114 for US units down the line perhaps?

P.S. I can personally verify the 2nd Cav was still using Sheridans until spring of 1978. As I was stationed in Bamberg at the time, and they had a battalion there.

    Guys
This thread will be used for me to advise you of updates and latest uploads to the aforementioned areas.
Its an ongoing process that Im working through but a quick update for this first post is....
The Scenario Depot III : Ive totally redesigned this and am working on fixing thumbnails so that the grid format looks good.  When uploading scenarios be sure to use a square image (any size) for your featured image.

The CM Mod Warehouse : A huge task that Im still plodding away at. Im tidying up all the downloads from the previous site and have also got a HDD full of mods from the mists of time that will eventually all get uploaded also.
The Proving Grounds II : This site is dead but I am going to work on it to turn TPGII into something new... possibly a challenge site or something along those lines... still to be decided.
Any updates I carry out or content uploaded you will be notified about in this thread.
    Thats all for now.
    Thanks

David, you did mention bringing features from other titles over. In another thread someone mentioned bringing over mine clearing equipment, by which I assume they meant vehicles. We can dream that right? Personally, and this is probably breaking your rule as well, I would also love to see UK, Canadian, German and Dutch trucks.

The issue is that CMBS revolves around a war in Ukraine.
You might say "but hey, there's a war in Syria, and that didn't stop CMSF!" However, Shock Force (1) and all DLCs were released prior to the Syrian civil war, and though the civil war bears no resemblence to the fictional war depicted in SF, it should be noted that no additional DLCs have been released since that war started (whether that is a coincidence or not, I can't say).
Add to this the fact that the war in Ukraine is more "sensitive" to the Western audience. It's not yet another war in a totalitarian dictatorship like the Syrian civil war is, but a very recent, very close to home invasion of a European democracy by a neighbouring dictatorship, something we haven't seen the like of since WW2. That obviously creates different "public relations issues" so to speak when it comes to potentially being regarded as profiting of it by publishing DLCs for CMBS while the war is still underway.

Hopefully the shelved DLC might be rerouted to Shock Force to add Russia as a faction there, but as for CMBS... I don't think it's fair to say that it's dead, but it's certainly in a coma.

It's because russia is losing and the war may not be over before the end of 2024. It won't look good to release a game about the war in Ukraine as the war will still be going on....
I  am pro-Ukrainian just calling it like I see it.

I hope I am wrong and this is all over soon and in a positive way for the Ukrainian people

I was thinking about a "Force Pack" for CM: Normandy that brings over the Free French, US Army Rangers, and perhaps a small number of vehicles that fought in the theater but aren't in the game yet but are in CM:FI. That strikes me as easy to implement. On the other hand, our programmer at work hates it when someone says it ought to be easy to implement.

I have a hunch it will be more than a few days until we get update part two (unless I missed something Steve said).
Some general recollections of old posts by Steve.
Western Front WWII sells best followed by Eastern Front.
No new North Africa Family planned. It sells fourth best after even Italy.
They will never cover Arab-Israeli wars.
They will never do a Pacific WWII family. The engine works best with combined arms battles. Thus both sides need significant combined arms forces so both sides can have campaigns.. (CMA was the exception to this but it was developed by a third party). Also there are terrain challenges with jungle.
They will not do a Vietnam family. See above.
What does that leave us?  My first guess is another Red Thunder module that may include Finns.
Of course Steve once said they will never do Cold War gone hot. Then a group of volunteers stepped forward and changed that. Perhaps that is happening again. I also recall Fortress Italy was moved way forward due to an investment by a private individual(s) but I don't think they will ever reveal the details on that.

You also are accepting zero actual risk in all this.  This entire issue comes down to risk/opportunity for BFC.  While for you it is entertainment and convenience.  Those are entirely different frameworks.
The opportunity for BFC is modest - DLCs do not make as much money as main title releases so ROI is limited.  They also have multiple lines of product, so they can offset any losses by shifting focus to offset lost investment in development.  The risk for BFC, in this environment, is significant.  Beyond the fact that releasing a wargame set in an active war zone (there are actual game maps that overlap RL) while people are dying, is going to be considered “bad taste” by most and “a social crime” by some - companies have been cancelled for less.  The risk of significant loss due to perceived exploitation of human suffering is high.
This is existential for BFC.  It is their livelihood.  Are you willing to personally pay for the financial damage this move could do to the company?  Are you willing to put your job on the line for a CMBS DLC?  Because that is what you would be asking BFC to do.  BFCs job is not to make you happy.  Their job is to sustain the business that makes you happy.  Right now risking everything on a single DLC does not make business sense.
