  1. Certainly, all the really best games are old dos games. The 80's and early 90's were full of them. I still play C=64, Amiga 500 and 486sx25 games. Graphics do not a good game make. Gameplay and longevity do. Besides show me an updated "Typhoon of Steel" by SSI, come on show me one <taps foot> I'm waiting. Show me an updated "War of the Lance" one of the best PC games ever with an AI to boot. Come on show me! hehe I could list 40 more that are still great and fun today to play that nothing comes near.
  2. Awww and you think us PC gamers don't have to move over to old computers just to play old DOS games also? Join the crowd, get inline and quit pushing. hehe
  3. Yeah and then we can trade leaders, I'll give you Rommel for Patton and (2) minor league players. hehe
  4. I never setup my units during QB's anyways. I always leave them at the back of the map and the only thing I place are mobile units that are in restricted trees or other terrain. This gives the AI another fair advantage and then as I move forward is when I start deciding on good places for my units to travel through. Makes for some great and challenging games vs AI.
  5. Oh gawd that's disgusting. lol I like a good steak medium rare, but, if it's still mooing, no thank you. But, the way I cook mine any cut of meat it will be juicy and tasty even that $1.49 stuff.
  6. Yeah but you can't mimic everything, even so, how often do you walk diagonally?
  7. Yeah but don't forget you still have to own the 4 flags of the quadrant to own it. So, you might get suppy degradation if you don't also capture the flags as well as speed across to the other side. Gotta play the game as it is intended, not the way you want it to play.
  8. Understanding defense. Understanding the Objective is to WIN. Combat Mission would be the number one game of all time, but, the AI is stupid near the end of the scenaro. It's on a defensive mission and it breaks out of it's foxholes near the end and does this parade of death towards my well protected line of attack toward objective flags. It's practically suicidal. It does the same thing in meeting engagements when IT'S AHEAD, it would win the stupid battle if it would just hold it's ground, but, those "objective hexes" have been programmed to be too important and it breaks its line and it's defense trying to take the sole and only objective hex I occupy and thus my men slauther it and I end up winning. That's just sad, really sad. Anyway you can fix this or adjust this somewhat Steve and Battlefront peoples?
  9. I tend to agree with you Drusus. One bad leadership is just going to be replaced by another. They are a differnt culture and will not 100% accept our doctrines or contitutions and freedoms we enjoy as Americans. It may be a deocratic government, but, it won't be like ours. It will have their rules and their laws and their chosen freedoms, etc. etc. And the Sunni's and Kurds will continue to reap the agony of it in the future. Thing is we got the OIL rights, which was the origional plan all along. Unspoken of course, that wouldn't look good in the papers. [ November 28, 2005, 01:27 PM: Message edited by: Kellysheroes ]
  10. I just think SOME people are spoilt and want their cake an eat it too in every game they get now. Just because one game has an option every game should have that option isn't the way it works. I personally don't see any trouble with PBEM strategy and then dropping to the CMBB game to play online. You're going to be playing that CMBB game a longgggg time anyways. (for the most part) Then you come out and go right back into PBEM mode, man that's such an effort (makes me tired just thinking about it! LOL NOT!) Quite being fat and lazy work those muscles, hut two hut two hut two.three...four. Back in MY day we had to do everything with the keyboard, you guys got it so easy today you don't even know what "playing" a game is. Back when you had to use the numbers at the top of the keyboard to move one single unit and then we got numberPAD oh man that was like a gift from heaven, then we just used numPAD to move every single unit. haha So, quit whinning, learn to "adapt".
  11. Wow thanks, so THAT's where Alice lives. I'm COMING TO GETCHEW ALICE!! muahahahahah hehe
  12. Are you running for congress BigDuke? Cause if you are I'll come vote for yah. BRING OUR BOYS HOME!!
  13. What I can't figure out is. Here I am sitting here considered the most evil man in the world (Saddam) and the most powerful nation in the world is barreling down on my doorsteps and I got all these supposedly WMD at my fingertips and I just sit there and do nothing with them. I've scratched my head over that one since day 1 of the war. Now, I'm a NORMAL man, have my evil days muahahahaha, but, I don't care who it was, I woulda used everything in my arsenal against whoever invaded my country. I would have launched every missile, every bomb, planted mines from here to kingdom come leading into Bagdad. Built underground ambush points to hit them from behind, etc. etc. And Saddam just sat there and then eventually just ran away. SOmething don't add up here.
  14. Wouldn't it be kewl to have a GeoPolitic game like this to play now? US vs the World. The player is G. Bush (haha yah think that would sell a lot of copies?) China invades Taiwan, N. Korea invades S. Korea, Japan mobilizes a republican army. US skirmishes in Syria lead to a declaration of WAR. Egypt & Jordan attack Isreal unannounced!! India and Pakastan have finally had enough of each other. Iran takes advantage of the US weakness!! Saddam escapes prison and joins up with Bin Laden!!! woohooo wouldn't that be some game?
  15. Hrmmm Combat Mission and Pong aren't so different. They both use mathematical code to project an image onto a screen for fun and entertaining purposes. There differences being one is a wego (hit the ball sort of game then wait for the other guy to hit it or miss and then show the results) and the other is (real time action where you see results constantly). They both portray an "illusion" of something real, pong like ping pong or tennis, CM hypothetical warfare with little army men to give it that WOW affect. But, CM just has a bunch of bouncing balls (those little tracers of simulated bullets), hitting or missing the paddles (the little men or tanks or equipment). Even bouncing off on tanks sometimes and even equipment cause you hear the ricochet. Both boil down to bits and bytes, with Lights on, Lights Off, like Karateah Kid rax on, rax off. If you look at the code behind both games it would be hard to tell them apart in general. One having a much longer line of code I'm sure..PONG! haha Yes, CM is really just a more advanced PONG in reality, more glitz and glamour, but, basically the same in the long run. One just has more paddles and pongs.
  16. I perfer PBEM so I have no quibbles about no TSP/IP. Just release the game already so I can get started on my PBEM games. Hunter already said you can play the tactical games online, just not the strategic one. So just PBEM the strategic part of the game then setup your online tactical battles, simple as that.
  17. Lol hamburger is nothing more than ground steak, why would you think a thing like that?
  18. Oh you think that's funny huh Alex!! grrrrrrrr >
  19. This game should offset the loss in sales of your new game cause it's going to be a modern series. Probably a good move to release them about the same as the other. I know which ONE I will be buying.
  20. Nah, I don't care for historical replays. I'd rather play an ahistorical scenario with historical troups and equipment. I rarely played any scenarios of any of the CM series, or ops. I played nearly every game a random quick battle setup and being fair to the AI I never used the pre-setup to setup my units, I always played that I had to advance and maneuver, even when playing the defensive ones.
  21. As someone said in another thread on another forum. There's a set of rules for the US and a set of rules for the "rest of the world". That's how the US goes about playing their wargames. Basically they make them up as they go. lol
  22. All I wanna know is when does the SECOND module come out, I'll be bypassing this first one definitely. I'll download the FREE demo though. hehe
