  1. When your forces is "dug in" and you want to put one in a trench, is there a "bonus" in keeping it "dug in" or is it better to "press D" before? Same question goes for forces in house or rubble. Thanks in advance!
  2. MM 1.15! What have I missed? I thought 1.11 was the latest! Can anyone please give a link where to find v1.15.
  3. I don't realy understand, what can I expect to happen if I do that? If I'm the attacker in an assault I think that the AI perhaps will start to attack me and get slaughtered.
  4. Hi! Me and a trusted friend have a lot of fun by playing an "OP" by combine a huge scenario with a series of QB. We started off with a scenario that simply is to much to accomplish in one round, with the designed goals, time and resourses. The scenario map has setup zones at the ends of the map. We save the AAR and import map with troups for a new round. Then we have PWTL (+ reinforcement at the ends of the map)- unfortunatly with knowledge of the opponents positions but he can always choose to withdraw them. The big problem so far is to decide when to stop - "give me more points in the next round and I sweep the floor with you!" [ August 31, 2005, 01:22 PM: Message edited by: Sgt AA ]
  5. Thanks, great tip! This can be very handy. Hard to think that this is not a bug, could there be any other rational explanation?
  6. "There is something about CM that is painful to me to even consider moving my men backwards. However, in cases like this I just had to do it with my blue platoon." Arrg, that time-factor will always ruin my strategy
  7. "You have to look at the portrait of the tank crewman. The commander is different." I play at maximum FOW, so for me that is seldom a possibillity. But the AI always seems to know the differens. Regards/
  8. Hi! Interesting question. Perhaps it's different depending on if the scenario is a ME or Attack/Assault. In meeting ju don't have any time for recon and in the other type the designer should give the attacker enough time for recon and planning of the attack (if not the breefing has enough information of course). I guess that Probe should require a lot more time than the other one. Just my thoughts. Regards/
  9. Thanks! A couple of years now and still so many thing to learn. This is a great game! Regards/
  10. Hi again! I'm glad that you - after some small corrections - can use the map I send you, the 100 meter looked easy to fix. I just give it another try; reduced speed to 7 (one more step) and set the attacker from north this time (elevation 1,25). Unfortunatly, exactly the same result. Waiting eagerly to hear from anyone else if they succeded. Regards/
  11. Hi! I sent you the map - created with MM1.11. I set it to a static OP with attacker from the south. In my PC it becomes an 4960x2000 map! Perhaps in the future I will have to further reduce export speed (today "speed 6"). As you can see there is some damage to the map. The "wasteland" in the north is easy to remove and the part with none terrain wouldn't be to troublesome to fill in. If you get a correct map from someone that use MM1.11 please let me know because I haven't had much time yet to evaluate this latest version. Very interested in knowing if it's me or the the program that still have some problems. Regards
  12. I read in the manual that "FOW" set to "none" could be a tole/help when you play-tested your designed senarios. Sounded first like a great idée to me, I now have the opportunity to actually see how the AI behaves! But second thoughts, isn't the AI's behaviour affectet by the fact that he can see my troops and moves as well? That means that the AI probably will use a different approach when you play the scenario under extreme FOW  IMHO the "FOW - none" is of really no use for people that really play the game, so it could have been a nice thing to have a combination of "extreme" for AI and "none" for player as a help just for scenario design. Or am I missing something here? Any thoughts would be welcome. Regards! [ June 04, 2005, 03:29 AM: Message edited by: Sgt AA ]
  13. Hi! Have you read the manual at all? You can manually add craters in the edit state. Yes, some infantery and guns will be automatically riding on/attached to vehicles. Seems to be a bit random and you can't expect your platons to be kept together. Use Mapping Mission when you create landscapes from real maps, makes it a whole lot more easier. 1.5 x 2 km doesn't sound so big to me! No need to make it an OP. Create the map in MM and then you can make both senarios and OPs - maximum flexibility  Regards! [ May 05, 2005, 02:07 AM: Message edited by: Sgt AA ]
  14. Another big day for us addicted "map makers". And now we own Leland J. Tankersley even more! Thank you, Leland!!! ******************************************* Changes in 1.11 (released 28 April 2005) * fixed a bug that could cause internal data corruption (resulting in a variety of symptoms, including the map being displayed as all white) tied to an internal directory path variable. * fixed a couple of bugs in operation map export logic. This required the addition of a second operation map menu choice in the Options menu. For proper export of operations maps, you must specify whether the operation is oriented east-west or north-south (this setting corresponds to the "Attacker direction" setting in the CM Operation Parameters screen). *********************************************** PS I will of course run some test this weekend and let you know if N-S is now working properly
  15. Thanks you all for caring! You make me belive that there is hope for mankind after all. The sound crashes even in small scenarios and without any conflicts, but after deliting the driver with help from the SB installation CD and done a manually installation of the driver (right-click on "my computer" and so on) now everything works just perfect again. I might me a stange man, but when my computer don't works perfect, nothing else in the world matters. Doesn't leave the house and no time for anything else (it's just like being sick)! Best regards!
  16. This is a bit of a *bump* I tried to install only the drivers and no other "utilitys" and then my computer and CMBB works perfect, not a single crash for over a year in any game. But now, after a total reinstallation (virus  ) the problem is back, both in CMBB & CMAK (installed only drivers for SC). Is there anything that I can have done wrong or missed in the installation process? No conflicts and DX 9.0 finds no problems. (After that sound has dissapeard in the game Direct Sound will not work in DX test, but Direct Music will.) Am I the only person who have had problem with SB Audigy 2? Any comments/help will be welcome! PS. OS is W98SE.
  17. "they don't need to throw the demo to disarm them." Are we only talking about Daisy-chain Mines here?
  18. "But as artillery-'baits' only heavy equipment, like tanks, trucks or guns are "effective"." In my experience it seems that the AI use smoke in that situation (spotted tanks), maybe it's a result of lack of heavy arty (over 75mm/81mm mortar)?
  19. I'm not a "grog" and I have a hard time myself to keep track of the different formations. The size and the OoB also changes over time. But I can give you "A russian tank brigade (as of 1942): Brigade HQ HQ Battalion Rec. Comp. (tank) Enginner Comp. AA-Comp. Machine Pistol Company Military Police Platoon 1st Tank Battalion HQ (at all 21 tanks, T34s) 1st Comp. (1+3x3) 2nd Comp. (1+3x3) 2nd T B " 3rd T B " Mechanized Infantry Battalion HQ Comp. 1st Infantry Comp. 2nd " 3rd " MG Comp. Trench Mortar Comp. ATG Comp. and Repair Comp. Transport Comp. Sanitary Comp. Hope it´s of some use anyway. Regards/
  20. Thank you! I shall try to understand the MS-articles. I'm really glad for your help. Regards/
  21. I'm running CMBB without no problems and my system never crashes, but I would like it to be a bit faster. My guess is that a faster processor is the best solution, but here my two questions? 1) Is more RAM going to make any differens? 2) I have tried to put in another 512 but the system just keep restarting. Is it possible to have 1024 under W98se at all? I'm planning to clear the HD an install the additional RAM and then do a new install of everything, but that's something I want to avoid if it's possible. Any suggestions? My system: Motherboard ASUS P4S8X Grafic ASUS Ti4600 Sound Audigy2 CPU P4 2533 RAM DIMM 512 OS W98SE Syncmaster 161T res. 1260x1024 Greatful for any sugesstions! Kind regards/
  22. JasonC You´re absolutly right in your military/economic analys, I'll give you that. But there are more than one angle to wiew a problem. Stalin's biggest fear was that the russian population would turn against him, and he was wery pleased with the fact that the germans treated POW very bad. Of course, the aim with Barbarossa wasn't to "liberate" the russians so my political argument is simply not realistic (in that sense it's a myth). But it´s a fact that Red Army was suffering from heavy losses and without reinforcements from the liberated areas they would have had serious problems. It's a big differens between being a "hiwi" for food or fighting for an independent Ukrine (Zukov and some other importent leader was from Ukrine). The partisan movement later in the war wasn't unimportent; disturbing logistics, gathering informations and lower the german morale. Without it, the germans would have had one significant problem less. Regards/ [ May 10, 2004, 11:10 AM: Message edited by: Sgt AA ]
  23. Acually, I think that Germany could have won in the east - not by force - but if they had "liberated" Ukraine and the Baltic (instead of terrorize them), then the USSR probably would have collapsed from the inside. Hitler was an idiot! Regards/ PS "We had to choose between to dictators, we choose the one that speak russian!" Unknown russian soldier.
  24. In real life, I guess, is the meaning with good strategy to make sure that you are superior to your opponent when attacking. But that's probably not very funny in a game, or is it? So I guess that a scenario designer tries to give you a hard time, with losses that wouldn't be accepted in real life. Regards/ [ May 05, 2004, 09:36 AM: Message edited by: Sgt AA ]
  25. Yes. But I have a hard time to accept the fact that vehicles is so superior against infantry at night, compared to daytime performance. Arty looks good at night [ May 03, 2004, 02:29 PM: Message edited by: Sgt AA ]
