RAF section of my school's Combined Cadet Force! But unlike Wisbech_lad's experience above there was no opt-out clause. I joined the RAF section because we got to go inside "to learn aeronatics" when it rained. The squaddies had to keep square-bashing, while the Navy section wore bell-bottom trousers that didn't look good in any kind of weather. Closest I came to action was the stampede for the chow line at weekend camps, and I hope I'm properly grateful for never being called to do more. I remember getting a half day off school to watch the fleet leaving for the Falklands.

Thanks taking time to post a great AAR. Things seemed to be going well on your left until the second factory, and then... disaster. It wasn't clear to me why it went sour. Just a factory too far?

I don't get a chance to play CMBO or visit these forums very often, but reading AARs has always been a great way to enjoy the game when I'm short of quality time. With thanks to all those who make the effort to write and post AARs, I'm offering one in return. Liking anything a bit out of the ordinary I wrote up a scenario set in the south of France, during Operation Dragoon (thank you Berlichtingen). Because of my casual playing habits it was against the AI, which is fine because I don't claim (or aspire) to be a great player. If you'd like to read about Captain Riviere's exploits as he attempts to bring Glory to France, and not a little to himself, please check it out here. AARs with pictures ar the ones most worth reading, so I tried to provide a few screenies to help follow along. Elsewhere on my website I have a list of links to other AARs with images and good design, that I know of.

If you're still interested you can get Juju's mod at the Combat Mission FTP site. There's another good one in Magua's Normandy mod. set, also on the ftp site. But I agree that MikeyD's is very cool.

There are a couple of suggestions that usually get made about mods, and I guess it's my turn to make them first for this thread. I'm not sure about the best sites to obtain CMBO mods these days, but the CMOutpost mod catalogue has always been really useful for figuring out what mods I like before having to spend time looking for them. I live in fear of it going away one day. Terrain is the mod I've spent most time "fine-tuning." Obviously it has the biggest impact on how the game looks. Which terrain you like is up to you, but having got this figured out I would mod other objects as they crop up in gaming. And I also use CMBB mods for CMBO, where the BMP number is the same.

This sounds familiar. At very close ranges the "window" reason sounds plausible, but when searching for the link above I found another example, for CMBO, that looks more far-fetched. I'm interested in your "Road to Toulon" series - I'm working on an AAR. having played the first one - and Andreas Biermann's "Bure", which I read was a good, small winter scenario. I've searched on the web for copies these but without luck. I'm glad I downloaded a few others, such as Andreas' "Leading the Way," before Der Kessel went away!
