the tank was in a wooded area and my soldiers ran across an open field, just to the left of the tank, and ended up on its flank, 5 meters away. soon after they stopped, the tank started to move and that is when they saw it.

sorry, that should say, when they stopped.

they were moving forward, when the spotted, the tank suddenly moved and that is when they spotted them. I was playing low difficultly. well that is want AT seemed to do in cmbb, here they seem invulnerable, but I am new to this engine and am probably not engaging them properly.

does anyone else have a problem with the way spotting works in this game. I had a squad of soldiers not spot a tank until they were only 5 meters away from it. not to mention my tanks getting killed by AT guns and no one being able to spot them? I don't know if I am just really use to cmbb, but a lack of spotting seems to take the fun out of the game for me. am I doing something wrong? are there orders I should be giving to my men? when I give moment orders, should I have multiple pauses in there moment path.

thanks for the info, very helpful. I guess cmsf left me with a bad taste in my mouth because it was impossible to PBEM with my long time gaming partner. but with what you guys said in my other thread about the different ways to transfer the large files, I think I will give it a try. thanks again.

besides graphics, what is better with this game compared to CMBB? is the gameplay any different? how large is the community? I originally bought CMSF when it came out and didn't really care for it, are the more recent titles any better? if you own all of them, could you put them order of your most preferred.

how does that work?

long time cmbo, cmbb, cmak pbem player here (still plays cmbb). just wondering if they made the pbem system more viable with the new engine. I found it completely unplayable with cmsf as the files were too huge to send by email. is this fixed? would love to come back to the community!

my long time opponent and i have become tired of the CM series (being playing since CMBO). we are looking for another PBEM game to play. does anyone have any suggestions? doesn't have to be a war game either.

nevermind, after installing 1.07, everything seems to work fine.

i installed 1.06 and it is asking for my cd, i'm pretty sure i downloaded the game. what do i do? i am installing the 1.07 patch now, maybe that will work.

yes, i gave up on it. the map had too much detail for my computer to play it. so i made a smaller one, 1/3 of the size and while it ran okay, it ended up being pretty boring. i might revisit now, with the info from that website. really nice. a problem i have was when 800 taliban started shooting, my computer would freeze up. even with 500 of them, it still ran super slow. if i tried it again, probably would only use 100-150. if anyone else feels like trying it go for it. in my free time, i have been working on a town assault map and have put this scenario on the back shelf.

pete, your map is great. however, i tried to create a infantry scenario using it pitting a heavily reinforced american infantry battalion against 3 + enemy battalions. when i tried to play it, i couldn't even get past the first information screen. so i got rid of everything except for 1 company on each side. i got past the first screen but when i was trying to set up my guys, the performance is just too choppy. i am starting to think that all the maps are just suppose to be flat dirt maps. i am starting to be real disappointed in this product.

all i know about my computer is that i upgraded almost 2 years ago. yes, way to many people to be playable, i will have to keep it to compnay level from now on.

when i take everything away except the troops, it runs fine. i just think my computer can't handle everything. will try something smaller.
